The so-called "mainstream media" is planning to ignore a speech to be given by Ann Romney, the wife of the presumptive GOP nominee, on Monday night, the first night of the RNC convention, the New York Times reported Wednesday.
Instead, the Times said that CBS will air a re-run of "Hawaii Five-O" while NBC will broadcast a new episode of "Grimm." ABC plans to broadcast "'Castle,' a series about a best-selling mystery novelist who helps solve crimes," the Times said.
"The networks, which reap considerable advertising dollars even from summer reruns, have told the Romney campaign that they will broadcast an hour of convention coverage on the final three nights - but no more," Jeremy W. Peters wrote.
The Romney campaign is understandably upset.
"I don't think it's the decision that Bill Paley would have made," Romney campaign adviser Russ Schriefer said.
The networks also plan to air only one hour of the Democratic convention for three nights, Matthew Sheffield wrote at Newsbusters.
On Wednesday, talk show host Laura Ingraham and Newsbusters senior editor Rich Noyes discussed a Rasmussen poll showing that 51 percent of likely voters believe that reporters will work to re-elect Barack Obama.
"The media, by and large, are staffed with liberals far in excess of the way the country looks," Noyes said.
While liberal journalists outnumber conservative journalists by a factor of three to one, a January 2012 Gallup poll said that conservative Americans outnumber liberals by 40 - 21 percent.
