Inspired by Monday night’s Republican presidential debate over immigration, Rep. David Rivera, R-Miami, filed a bill that would give young people who serve in the military — not college students — a path to U.S. citizenship.
 
State & Local Update:
 
Republican Gov. Susana Martinez suffered a temporary political setback Thursday in a bid to stop New Mexico from granting driver's licenses to illegal immigrants.
 
In a letter to President Obama, Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer offered to visit the U.S.-Mexico border with President Obama -- an offer that may be on ice after the two leaders' now-famous argument Wednesday on an airport tarmac.
 
No surprise that the Springfield Chamber of Commerce opposes E-Verify. Their titular head immediately declared it unwarranted when the ordinance was first announced, even though the local chamber has sought and received certification to use the system.
