The Human American Eagle: 12,500 officers, nurses and men at Camp Gordon, Atlanta, Georgia, 1918. The photograph was taken from a specially constructed scaffold tower. It was made by Arthur S. Mole, an Englishman, and John D. Thomas. The pair made several such photographs at the start of the 19th century, using military men to create striking images.
