Obama Rests Comfortably after Paris Attacks

At last, a Western leader is at war with radical Islam.
Too bad it is not Obama.
Leave it to a French socialist, namely President Francois Hollande, to take the battle to ISIS. "It's an act of war," he declared, soon after the terrorist group's deadly rampage killed 132 and wounded 352 others, 99 of them critically. "We will lead the fight and we will be ruthless," Hollande promised. True enough, he then unleashed military aircraft against Raqaa, Syria - essentially the capital of ISIS.
Hollande Monday addressed a joint session of the French Parliament gathered at the Palace of Versailles.
"The acts committed on Friday night in Paris and at the Stade are acts of war," he said. "This constitutes an attack against our country, against its values, against its youth, against its way of life. . . . This is not a war of civilization, as these assassins don't have any. This is a war against the jihadist menace that threatens not just France." Hollande added: "It's not about containing, but destroying this organization."
Hollande Tuesday invoked Article 42.7 of the Treaty of European Union, for the first time ever. The pact's mutual-defense clause requires every member of the 28-nation bloc to support France's campaign to annihilate ISIS. In a major diplomatic triumph, Hollande's request in Brussels was adopted unanimously.
Hollande's profile in courage is a jarring contrast to Obama. The French leader understands that ISIS is fixated on brutalizing France and the rest of Civilization. Under Obama, however, America is unfocused, unsteady, and unserious about crushing radical Islam. Obama and his team see this existential threat as little more than random noise, if that.
"I don't think they are gaining strength," Obama hallucinated on ABC News on Friday morning, referring to ISIS. "From the start, our goal has been, first, to contain. And we have contained them."
Nine hours later, a decidedly uncontained ISIS lit up the City of Light with gunfire and grenades.
And, on Sunday, Obama said at the G20 Summit in Atalya, Turkey, that ISIS's slaughter on the Seine was "based on a twisted ideology." He also stressed the importance of "hunting down the perpetrators of this crime and bringing them to justice."
Here, again, even two days after this mayhem, Obama still did not get it.
This is not "a twisted ideology" in action. These are not vegans with Kalashnikovs or animal-rights activists with explosives. These, specifically, are agents of militant Islam. Obama needs to identify this problem, so he and other world leaders can concentrate on it and demolish it. Obama, alas, is like a doctor who examines a patient with lung cancer, offers to help him fight "a serious disease," and then gives him anti-cholesterol drugs.
As for bringing ISIS "to justice," the point is not to put these butchers on trial in a Manhattan federal court room. Instead, ISIS immediately needs to be blasted into a thousand pieces and prevented from doing the same to America, its friends, and its allies. Imagine FDR telling Americans that U.S. troops had landed on the beaches of Normandy "and hope to have Herr Hitler under arrest and Mirandized in the weeks ahead."
Friday's barbarism was not "a crime" as Professor of Law Obama claims. This was an act of war by a fledgling Middle Eastern nation that calls itself the Islamic State.
Obama's blunders in this vital struggle compose a museum of tragicomedy.
- Obama decided to spend $500 million to train and equip some 5,400 moderate Syrian forces to battle ISIS. Instead, the program was scrapped last month after generating a grand total of60 fighters. Rather than a credible anti-ISIS force, Obama characteristically fathered a big-government flop.
- A recent report found that Transportation Safety Administration staffers let undercover agents whisk guns and bombs through security checkpoints at eight major U.S. airports95 percent of the time. "The abject and consistent failures of TSA screenersshould frighten everyone, particularly when they are considered in terms of recent terrorist acts that occurred in Paris," a law-enforcement source told theNew York Post.
- Meanwhile, ten handguns and six M4 rifles werestolen from the U.S. Army Reserve Armoryin Worcester, Massachusetts last weekend. Intermittent vigilance has its risks.
- Amid all of this, and almost unbelievably,Obama released five hardened jihadists from Guantanamoon Saturday. These Yemeni enemy combatants were shipped to the United Arab Emirates, where they no longer will be surrounded by well-armed U.S. GIs and sharks. For this stomach-turning development, thank Obama's infantile insistence that Gitmo fuels jihadist rage.
Only someone with Obama's childlike grasp on reality could imagine that if Gitmo had been padlocked, Metrojet Flight 9268 would have flown safely from Sharm el-Sheik, Egypt, and landed softly in Moscow on October 31. If Gitmo were kaput, Obama fantasizes, the Eagles of Death Metal would have finished their encore on Friday and bid goodnight to their delighted audience. Instead, ISIS blew to bits 224 souls on that plane and wiped out 89 rock fans at the Bataclan Music Club.
ISIS made no mention of Guantanamo in its justification for Friday's carnage. Instead, ISIS struck Paris because it is, in the terrorists' words, "the capital of prostitution and vice, the lead carrier of the cross in Europe." Three ISIS killers detonated their suicide vests at the Stade de France because, as an ISIS communiqué explained, that night's soccer match there was "between the teams of Germany and France, both of which are crusader nations."
As for the concert, an ISIS manifesto explained: "The targets included the Bataclan theater for exhibitions, where hundreds of pagans gathered for a concert of prostitution and vice." ISIS previously has displayed its toxically tin ears: "Songs and music are forbidden in Islam, as they prevent one from the remembrance of God and the Quran and are a temptation and corruption of the heart." All told, ISIS declared, the attacks caused "the deaths of no less than two hundred crusaders and the wounding of even more. All praise, grace, and favor belong to Allah."
And now, it turns out that at least one ISIS killer in Paris was a Syrian "refugee" who floated into Europe with the tide of those escaping that country's chaos. Never mind. Obama wants America to accept even more such refugees, even though there is no way to determine which are homicidal, which are harmless, and which are placid now, but could be radicalized later.
While America can and should find room for those escaping the anti-Christian genocide that has exploded in that region, it is just too risky to accept Muslim refugees, other than small children. While most of these people are non-violent, ISIS pledged in February to send a half-million refugees into Europe as a "psychological weapon." It would be foolish for them not to mix radical-Islamic terrorists into this human flood.
Does Obama care?
ISIS websites now state that "American blood is best, and we will taste it soon."
The FBI has some 900 different ISIS-related probes underway in all 50 states, according to its chief, James Comey.
None of this seems to faze Obama. Yesterday, he called the Paris bloodshed a "setback." If he were president in 1941, he would have called Pearl Harbor a "dustup."
Amid such potentially lethal lassitude, Anonymous deserves applause for its initiative. The underground hacking group announced Monday that it would deploy its cyberskills to cripple ISIS. "Expect us," Anonymous warned ISIS. "We will not give up. We will not forgive." Anonymous pledged to "Stop suffering. Stop death. Stop blood."
Meanwhile, the not-at-all-anonymous President Hollande's jets over the last few nights have pounded an ISIS arsenal, training camps, and a command-and-control center in Raqqa, this war's de facto Nazi Berlin.
This is excellent news. However, why the hell are these targets still standing? American drones patrol this region, probably 24-7. While one of them killed ISIS leader "Jihadi John" last week, why did it take Hollande to do to Raqqa and its enemy installations what Obama should have done to them as far back as January 2014, when this city fell to ISIS?
ISIS's training camps should be vaporized. Its armories should be ablaze. Its command posts should be rubble. Raqqa should become re-christened "Dresden in the desert."
While Hollande dispatched the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle to the eastern Mediterranean to help slam ISIS, the United States of America, for the first time since 2007, has no aircraft carrier in the Persian Gulf, one of Earth's most predictably dangerous waterways. This is dereliction of duty by the commander-in-chief.
This all seems like a sideshow for Obama. Unfortunately, militant Islam in general and ISIS in particular have nothing to do with NCAA basketball brackets or leisurely rounds of golf. This is about finding each and every ISIS murderer and turning him into a corpse, before he and his comrades come to America and turn Obama's constituents into cadavers.
Too bad Obama is snoring through this.
Francois Hollande is leading the War on ISIS and rallying the world against radical Islam. As for Obama, will someone please wake him when it's over?
