The Islamic Society of North America Holds Annual Conference; Many Speakers Tied To Global Muslim Brotherhood

by THE GLOBAL MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD DAILY REPORT September 12, 2012

The Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) held its 49th Annual Convention over the weekend. While the event appears to have attracted no media attention, the convention program identifies a myriad of speakers tied to the Global Muslim Brotherhood including:

  • Tariq Ramadan (grandson of the founder of the Muslim Brotherhood)
  • Jamal Badawi (leader of the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood)
  • Rachid Ghannouchi (leader of the Tunisan Muslim Brotherhood)
  • Radwan Ziadeh (Center for the Study of Islam and Democracy)
  • Tawakul Karman (Yemeni Muslim Brotherhood)
  • Nihad Awad (leader of Council on American Islamic Relations)
  • Yaqub Mirza (ISNA, former SAAR Foundation)
  • Fatima Mirza (ISNA, relative of Yaqub)
  • Susan Douglas (International Institute of Islamic Thought)
  • Jasser Auda (International Institute of Islamic Thought, colleague of Youssef Qaradawi)

Other individuals of interest included University of California professor Hatem Bazian who once called for an "Intifada" in the US and Reform Rabbi David Saperstein who has been engaged in a longstanding interfaith effort with the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood.

One of the scheduled conference sessions was titled "Partnering with Our Government for the Common Good" to included " Representatives from the US Agency for International Development, US Dept. of Justice, US Dept. of State, US Dept. of Homeland Security, US Dept. of Health and Human Services, The White House, and USAID. Also scheduled to attended was Rep. Keith Ellison, the first Muslim Congressman. Previous posts have discussed the controversy over his trip to Mecca which was funded by the Muslim American Society, a well-known U.S. Muslim Brotherhood detailed [2] his ties to the USMB.

As documented in a Hudson Institute report, claim [3] that ISNA has a "long record of fighting hate, extremism, and bigotry, including anti-Semitism", the organization actually has a long history of fundamentalism, anti-semitism, and support for terrorism and during the recent Holy Land Foundation terrorism financing trial, named [4] as an unindicted co-conspirator as a result of what the government called "ISNA's and condemnations [5] of terrorism which for the first time identify Hamas and Hezbollah by name, there is no indication that the organization has ever addressed or acknowledged its history of support for terrorism. Also, as the Hudson Institute report observes, almost all of the ISNA founders remain active in the organization and ISNA maintains close relations with all other components of the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood. A previous post discussed the ties between the ISNA Secretary-General, a former leader of the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) Chicago chapter, and an Illinois school with close links to the Mosque Foundation, itself tied to fundraising for Hamas. Despite it's long history of association with fundamentalism, terrorism, and anti-Semitism, ISNA has been successful of late in building post [7] from October 2011 reported on a  controversial conference associated with ISNA that was accused by a critics of being sponsored by organizers who made of anti-Semitic and anti-gay remarks.

Obama comment on ‘divisive' Catholic education means class in session for #ObamaApprovedSchools

June 19, 2013  10:37 PM

At the G8 Summit in Northern Ireland, President Obama suggested that Catholic schools are divisive. The controversy over the president’s comment prompted a Twitter user to wonder exactly what kinds of schools Obama would approve of. It only takes a tweet to get things going: I propose a new hashtag: #ObamaApprovedSchools – Hogwart's Academy – […]

“May we, in humility, confront this national sin, & may we mourn what abortion reveals about the conscience of our nation.” – @VirginiaFoxx— Sister Toldjah (@sistertoldjah) June 19, 2013 Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC), speaking on behalf of the unborn and in support of the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act (HR 1797), was brought to tears […]

Sen. Ted Cruz blasts Gang of Eight's shamnesty bill

June 19, 2013  09:13 PM

Unlike many in the GOP, Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, is willing to speak bluntly and honestly about the Gang of Eight’s amnesty proposal. Of course, he is absolutely right. It is 1986 all over again. And if the Gang of Eight bill passes, the low-wage-worker lobby will be pushing another amnesty proposal down our throats […]

‘Evidence of the depth and breadth of Obama's radicalism': President suggests Catholic schools are divisive

June 19, 2013  07:15 PM

That’s exactly what happened, as evidenced by this quote from President Obama at the G8 summit in Northern Ireland: 'If towns remain divided—if Catholics have their schools and buildings and Protestants have theirs, if we can't see ourselves in one another and fear or resentment are allowed to harden—that too encourages division and discourages cooperation,' […]

Amanda Marcotte: GOP politicians obsessed with young women having sex

June 19, 2013  05:46 PM

Logic is not exactly Amanda Marcotte’s strong suit. Case in point: Marcotte can’t seem to wrap her head around the idea that Republicans are capable of having opinions about abortion. The only way she can explain it is that they’re icky: It is always unnerving to realize how many creepy Republican politicians were once gynecologists.— […]
