Classified briefings to Congress today about the emerging threat from North Korea must address its most ominous - but least discussed - feature.

For years, a group of national security professionals working together as the Secure the Grid Coalition have been warning that North Korea may already have acquired - and perhaps deployed - the means to destroy the United States, perhaps with a single nuclear bomb.

Two of the Coalition's top experts, former Clinton CIA Director James Woolsey and Dr. Peter Vincent Pry, assess that Pyongyang could already have placed aboard one of its two orbiting satellites a nuclear device optimized to conduct a devastating electromagnetic pulse attack. If detonated over the United States, one such weapon could destroy our unprotected electric grid - and our nation.

Trump officials and lawmakers are on notice: This threat must be neutralized, and the grid secured.

The latest from Frank Gaffney, Jr.  Frank is the Founder and President of the Center for Security Policy in Washington, D.C.  Mr. Gaffney formerly acted as the Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Policy during the Reagan Administration, following four years of service as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Nuclear Forces and Arms Control Policy.
