To Palinize.
Victor Davis Hanson, NRO.com

Palinize: to slander and caricature a working-class female public figure for the noble advancement of liberalism.

Sarah Palin—self-made woman, and governor of Alaska—is being reducing by the left to a hickish, white trash mom of five, analogous to the manner that esteemed jurists like Kenneth ("cigarette lawyer") Starr and Robert Bork were slandered by the media as incompetent right right-wing fanatics, and Clarence Thomas was pilloried as an affirmative action sex-maniac.

Why does the left and liberal media, in McCarthyite fashion, now seek to destroy rather than just oppose these public servants?

First, there is the annoited's notion that the noble ends justify the slimy means, that whether the issue is abortion or affirmative action or any other hot-button social gospel, the supposed interests of the many override the common decency that should be afforded the few.

We are supposed to think that given one's cosmic sense of fairness and caring, the white knight always is afforded a little human leeway in slaying dragons in the here and now. To save the utopian vision of "two nations" John Edwards, presidential candidate, hundreds in the media passed on verifiable stories of his adultery, the financial support of his mistress, and his blatantly untrue assertions in public press conferences

Not this week, perhaps—but soon there will be a backlash against all this creepiness. Just watch. Read article.

Why Obama Can't Close the Sale
Al Hubbard & Moam Neusner, Online WSJ.com

Even before John McCain shook up the presidential race by tapping Gov. Sarah Palin to be his running mate, polls weren't showing the late-August lead that Barack Obama (and many Republicans) expected. Why so?

It's not because of the brilliance of the McCain campaign. Rather we believe that -- despite the media's best efforts to exempt Mr. Obama's policies from critical examination -- American voters aren't sheep. They pay attention to the candidates and positions and make wise decisions about who should lead the country.

True, Mr. Obama enjoys several advantages. Republicans are struggling nationwide in head-to-head contests. Democrats lead in voter registration, and have a well-funded presidential candidate.

Yet Americans have not committed to Mr. Obama. Why? Read article.

McCain: Palin More Qualified than Obama
Mike Allen, Politico.com

Mounting a ferocious defense of his embattled running mate, John McCain said he is buying a TV ad arguing that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has more experience than the Democratic presidential nominee, Barack Obama. In an effort to rev up conservatives, a campaign statement issued a list of critical media mentions that it called “smears” of Palin, who speaks in primetime at the convention on Wednesday night.

The campaign announced: “The McCain campaign will launch a television ad directly comparing Gov. Palin’s executive experience as a governor who oversees 24,000 state employees, 14 statewide cabinet agencies and a $ 10 billion budget to Barack Obama’s experience as a one-term junior senator from Illinois.”

The ad is what the campaign calls “a forward-leaning effort to counter the shameless smears that have prevailed during Gov. Palin’s introduction to the American voter.” Read article.

Who Vetted Obama?
Cliff Kincaid, AIM.org

The Washington Post reported that John McCain’s vetting process for picking Governor Sarah Palin included an FBI background check. Other reports dispute this. But when did the FBI investigate Obama? Who vetted him?

We are living witnesses to an incredible media double standard, whereby a Republican vice-presidential candidate’s personal life is being torn apart, while the Democratic presidential candidate continues to get a free ride. Obama has a 30-year history of associating with unsavory characters, beginning with communist Frank Marshall Davis and continuing with Jeremiah Wright and communist terrorists Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn, which should disqualify him from getting a security clearance in the government that he wants to run.

An FBI investigation of Obama might get at the truth about the Democratic candidate. But an FBI background check is something that the presidential nominee of the Democratic Party has not been forced to undergo. How many people even know that?

But whether the FBI investigated Palin is now becoming a controversy.

In contrast to the focus on Palin and her family, the Post on August 24 ran a 10,000-word piece about Barack Obama’s growing-up years in Hawaii that completely ignored the role of his acknowledged mentor, communist Frank Marshall Davis. There was not one word devoted to an identified communist, who also stands accused of drug use, alcohol abuse, and child molesting, being in intimate contact with the Democratic presidential nominee for about nine years of his young life. Sarah Palin and the narcissistic wounds of the Left
James Lewis, American Thinker.com

Senator O is entitled to the presidency. You may not think so, but millions of Leftists do. He's black, he's cool, he makes the Left drool. As the fringe likes to say, "It's only justice." Think about that word "justice" and try filling in "revenge." "Social justice" means the revenge of the poor against the rich, of the radical women against the men who've stood them up and hurt their feelings all their lives, and the revenge of black people finally doin' down the whites -- as Jeremiah Wright makes so abundantly clear.

"Social justice" is the revenge of the psychologically oppressed against people who look happier and more satisfied with their lives.

The Left always counts its presidential chickens before they're hatched. They did it with Algore, they did it with Kerry. They think they have victory in their grasp, and when reality says otherwise they feel robbed and betrayed. They have to find dark plots and conspiracies to explain the impossible; the Supreme Court was corrupt in stopping the Al Gore assault on the election rules in Florida. Ohio's voting machines were hacked to give George W. Bush his win there. Today, Algore is still bulking up with rage, eight years after Florida. Kerry still thinks he was "swiftboated" -- when his Swiftboat chain of command finally got its chance to tell the truth.

It's the gangster theory of electoral democracy. They're all counting on victory. It's theirs already. Like the Obama campaign keeps telling us, the election is just a formality. We have a new president, and his name starts with an O.

The Left is entitled to power, because in their own eyes they have Truth and Morality on their side. They are Mahatma Gandhi, they are Dr. King, they are the vanguard of the marching proletariat. It's not just Big O who has the incomprehensible egomania. His inner circle and vast numbers of his supporters do, too. Entitlement, grandiosity, narcissism: In psychiatric thinking they all suffer from secret feelings of inferiority, narcissistic wounds to their self-esteem. Every time they lose, those nagging feelings come up again. So they are always overcompensating, trying to bully reality into the shape they need. Read article.

Miss 80 Percent
Monica Crowley, Political Mavens.com

There has been a lot of talk during this campaign about percentages. In his acceptance speech the other night, Barack Obama got big applause when he said that John McCain had voted with President Bush 90 percent of the time, and that he didn’t want to gamble on a 10 percent chance for change.

What Obama didn’t tell you is that he has voted 95 percent of the time with the liberal Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid. That would be the same Harry Reid, who along with uberliberal House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, head up a Democratic-led Congress with a sensational 9 percent job approval rating. Obama is part of that liberal Congressional leadership of which 91 percent of the American people disapprove. Obama votes with them 95 percent of the time.

Watch Hillary closely over the next few weeks. She will say and do all of the right things in support of Obama, of course, but she also won’t be able to hold her tongue if sexist criticisms of Palin grow louder. She will point out the sexism as something she herself suffered, and thereby forge something of a sisterhood bond with Palin—and with a lot of other women across the country. It’ll be Hillary’s way of helping the McCain-Palin ticket—and her own cause.

For any undecided, moderate, or Independent voter who felt the pull of Obama because of the historic nature of his ascent, you now have another place to go. Palin’s placement on the Republican ticket allows you to vote for another historic run. It allows you to vote for McCain without feeling guilty about dissing “a first.” Now you don’t have to choose between “tastes great, less filling;” You can have both with McCain-Palin.

In a campaign of dueling percentages, Sarah Palin has one that Obama, Pelosi, Reid, even President Bush would walk over their grandmothers for: as Governor, her job approval stands at 80 percent. Even apple pie doesn’t have 80 percent approval.

She is McCain’s secret weapon: solidly conservative, living family values, attractive, warm, and—what do you know?—NORMAL.

She’s also stealth: underestimated, under the radar, dismissed. And therein lies her power. Read article.

My Interview with Alaska Governor Sarah Palin
Larry Kudlow, CNBC.com

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has exactly the high energy, political toughness, and conservative reform message that would boost Sen. John McCain’s presidential run if Big Mac were to put her on the ticket. In an interview last evening on CNBC, Palin was very clear on her drill, drill, drill message for Alaska and the rest of the U.S., along with her strong supply-side tax-cutting and free-market economic views. She did not shirk from questions about an investigation of her firing the state’s safety commissioner. She told us she has nothing to hide — let them bring it on.

Palin is dealing with Alaska’s culture of corruption by supporting all manner of reform and investigation. She basically dissed Ted Stevens, calling him a distraction. She then talked about cleansing the Republican party of all the pork-barrel corruption that cost it the congressional election of November 2006.

Palin’s response to all the vice-presidential talk is fascinating. It was a point of view I have never heard before and it underscored her independence. I have interviewed all the veep prospects, and I still have Gov. Palin at the top of my list.

I hope readers will enjoy this interview: GO HERE.

Obama’s Fear Of A Woman
Tom Barrett, Conservative Truth.org

In his coronation speech Obama proved that he could lie better than most politicians. The next day his worst fear was realized. John McCain picked a strong Conservative leader with executive experience as his running mate. The news so electrified Conservatives that it totally stole the thunder from Obama’s speech. Obama proved how afraid he was of her when he began his attacks on her even before the official announcement was made.

Let’s discuss a few of Obama’s more outrageous lies in his speech before we get into Governor Sarah Palin’s strong credentials and experience.

He began his speech by fawning over Bill and Hillary Clinton. Everyone (including the Clintons) knows that he both hates and fears them. His insincerity was palpable, but he had to say the words because he still hopes to get most of Hillary’s supporters to vote for him. And the Clintons had to pretend they believed him because she still wants to run again. She must appear to support Obama now, or the party bosses won’t support her in the future.

So the Clintons will pretend to campaign for Obama, hoping the whole time that he will lose so that Hillary can run in four years. And Obama will continue to lie about how much he admires her, because he desperately needs the women voters who have stuck with Hillary, and have vowed they will never vote for him.

Next he called Joe Biden “One of the finest statesmen of our time.” Obama has no more respect for Biden than I do. He is not, and has never been, a statesman of any kind. A statesman is defined as “A respected leader in international affairs.” Biden has no experience in international affairs. And even the members of his own party don’t respect him. He was a last-minute choice forced on Obama because he has lots of experience with the good-ole-boy pork-barrel politicians that Obama needs to support him.

I’ll skip his fairy tales about his roots. That’s a subject that will require an entire article. But I will tell you this. Obama is far from what he seems to be and claims to be. Once America knows the truth about him, all but the most liberal Democrats will turn away from him. Read article.

The Bad Company Of Barack Obama
Andrew McCarthy, CBS News.com

Why is Barack Obama so comfortable around people who so despise America and its allies? Maybe it’s because they’re so comfortable around him.

He presents as the transcendent agent of “change.” Sounds platitudinous, but it’s really quite strategically vaporous. Sen. Obama is loath to get into the details of how we should change, and, as the media’s Chosen One, he hasn’t had to.

But he’s not, as some hopefully dismiss him, a charismatic lightweight with a gift for sparkling the same old vapid cant. Judging from the company he chooses to keep, Obama’s change would radically alter this country. He eschews detail because most Americans don’t believe we’re a racist, heartless, imperialist cesspool of exploitation. The details would be disqualifying.

Ayers and Obama had teamed up for three years on the board of the Woods Fund, a Chicago charitable organization. Together, they voted to donate $75,000 of the largesse they controlled to the Arab American Action Network. The AAAN was co-founded by Rashid Khalidi, a longtime supporter of Palestinian “resistance” attacks against Israel, which he openly regards as a racist, apartheid state. Despite considerable evidence to the contrary, Khalidi peremptorily denies having been a PLO operative or having directed its official press agency for six years (from 1976 to 1982). There can be no gainsaying, though, that he was an influential apologist for Yasser Arafat, the terror master who spawned two Intifadas and ordered the murder of American diplomats.

Read the short interview and ask yourself: Could anyone, let alone someone as sophisticated as Barack Obama, chat with Bill Ayers for about 30 seconds and not know exactly where is coming from?

Could they really have been friends? Well, Ayers is virtually channeling Michelle Obama and Jeremiah Wright when he wails that American “society is not a just and fair and decent place.” Read article.

Iran's Most Useful Idiot
Editorial, NY Post.com

Barack Obama may genuinely believe, as he promised in last week's acceptance speech, that he can prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons. First, though, he'll have to overcome his running-mate's resistance.

Israel's Army Radio just reported that Sen. Joe Biden told Israeli leaders in 2005 that they would have to accept a nuclear Iran.

The report says Biden told the Israelis that he doubted economic sanctions would be effective against Tehran, "and I am against opening an additional military and diplomatic front."

Biden's camp yesterday termed the report "a lie."

But despite Biden's recent remarks that "Iran's acquisition of a nuclear weapon would dramatically destabilize an already unstable region," the fact remains that the senator has long shown antipathy for getting tough with Tehran.

Indeed, according to a devastating profile in The New Republic in 2001, Biden suggested, in the wake of 9/11, "this would be a good time to send, no strings attached, a check for $200 million to Iran."

He even voted against a resolution designating Iran's Revolutionary Guards a terrorist organization and calling for tough sanctions against it - one of only 22 senators to do so.

Biden has been pushing for "engagement" with Tehran - as opposed to sanctions - for more than a decade. Read article.

Obama and the End Of Racism
Denish D'Souza, Townhall.com

Obama's campaign is based on the premise that America is no longer racist. Far from making race-based appeals, to blacks on the basis of solidarity, and to whites on the basis of guilt, Obama campaigns on the expectation that whites share his economic values and foreign policy positions and view of America.

In other words, Obama's public message is that race doesn't matter and that transracial alliances should be built on shared political and cultural values. It's a good message, and how it must dismay professional civil rights activists to hear it. I wouldn't be surprised if Jesse Jackson is telling family members, "If race relations keep improving like this, I may have to get a real job."

Racism, which used to be systematic, is now only episodic. In fact, when I ask young blacks on the campus today whether America is racist, many say yes. But if I ask them to give me examples of how that racism affects their lives, they are hard pressed to give a single one. The best they can do is to mention "Rodney King" or provide some well-known, recycled horror story.

Even though Obama's candidacy signals that America is overcoming its racial past, neither Obama nor his wife recognize that. Their personal statements, as seen for example in Obama's books, are suffused with race-consciousness, race-obsession and even racial resentment. The more privileges they have received on the basis of race, the more embittered they seem to become. The source of these pathologies is the very liberalism that the Obamas have embraced: a liberalism that declares them equal while treating them as inferiors who need preferential treatment.

The solutions are obvious. If we appreciate the significance of our current moment, we are driven to an ironic but rational conclusion: perhaps the best way to recognize Obama's historic achievement is to vote for John McCain this November. Read article.

Barack Obama–or Else?
Arnold Ahlert, Political Mavens.com

There is a meme being developed by the leftist media regarding Barack Obama that can be boiled down to one phrase: anyone who doesn’t vote for him is a de facto racist. Surprising? About as surprising as the sun rising in the east.

For years, Americans unimpressed by the “race hustle” and its proponents–Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Louis Farrakhan, Maxine Waters, John Conyers, Jeremiah Wright, et al, and the legions of guilty white liberals who have aided and abetted them–have been forced to endure similar charges of racism. Those of us who believe the “content of one’s character is more important than the color of one’s skin” have watched this charade play itself out to the point of absurdity. How else can one explain the schizophrenia in which decades of blind allegiance to a Democrat Party has–according to the hustlers themselves–done virtually nothing to alleviate the plight of black America?

It’s easy. “Progress” only counts if liberal blacks make it. Conservative blacks don’t count.

Once one understands this dynamic, ignoring the likes of Clarence Thomas, Condi Rice, Colin Powell, Thomas Sowell, Walter Williams, Ward Connerly, and a host of others–along with their monumental contributions to America–can be blithely ignored. In fact, such people MUST be ignored if racial grievance is to survive. Why?

The success of racialism depends on a steady supply of victims. Read article.

Saudi Arabians Back Obama
Tzvi Ben Gedalyahu, IsraelNN.com

Saudi Arabians, including expatriates, are backing Democratic presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama. According to the Arab News, which describes itself as the Arab world's leading English daily newspaper, the reasons for Saudi support of the rookie senator range from his being black to his middle name being Hussein, which has led many Saudis to believe he is a Muslim. Sen. Obama was born to a Muslim father, who had several wives, but the presidential candidate is Christian. Read article.

Why McCain Still Has a Chance To Win
Peter Johnson, Online WSJ.com

With Barack Obama already established as a skillful rhetorician, people keep asking me, a former White House speechwriter, about John McCain. Can he say anything -- anything at all -- that might place him in the company of Ronald Reagan, the president for whom I used to work?

The answer, I believe, is yes. Before I explain, I need to note one way Sen. McCain has already placed himself alongside President Reagan: by being wildly underestimated.

As recently as July 4, even the most loyal Republicans privately expected the summer to go badly for their candidate. Sen. Obama had already opened a lead over Mr. McCain. He would proceed to raise far more money than his opponent and then spend heavily on advertising, increasing his lead. Reaching Denver ahead by five or 10 points, Mr. Obama would leave with a lead well into double digits. Republicans would then find themselves preparing to undergo the exquisite agony in St. Paul of putting up a brave front while the mainstream media looked on and chortled.

None of that happened.

Reaching Denver only even in the polls, Mr. Obama left with a lead in single, not double, digits, experiencing only a modest bounce. And as Republicans began gathering for their convention this past weekend, restaurants and dining rooms throughout the Twin Cities resounded with the whooping and cackling of the suddenly reprieved.

Two factors contributed to this astonishing turnaround. One has already been widely remarked upon: the uneven performance of Mr. Obama. Read article.

"Change" the channel!
Mark Alexander, Patriot Post.us

"We have heard of the impious doctrine in the old world, that the people were made for kings, not kings for the people. Is the same doctrine to be revived in the new, in another shape.?" --James Madison

At the opening ceremonies of the Olympics in Beijing, I found a small Chinese flag had been placed on my seat, and on 90,999 other seats in the Bird's Nest stadium. Needless to say, I did not wave that flag -- we smuggled in our own 3x5 foot American flags, which we displayed with honor. But there was a sea of little Red flags around us.

Apparently, the organizers of the big Demo confab in Denver took a cue from the Chinese and supplied small American flags on every delegate's seat, which the cadre of Obamaphiles waved obediently and incessantly. (I suspect those flags were made in China.)

No small irony here that the subject of all this fervor, Barack Hussein Obama, refused until recently to wear that flag on his lapel, much less recite a pledge to it.

Of course, all the flag waving played well for the TV audiences, but liberal protagonists have always been about appearances, appealing to feeling, style over substance.

Indeed, as I previously summarized in an essay entitled, "Why the Left can't get it Right," ask liberals about some manifestation of their worldview -- for example, why they support a charlatan like Obama -- and their response will be predicated by, "Because I feel."

On the other hand, ask conservatives about what they believe, or why they do or don't support John McCain, and their response will be predicated by, "Because I think." Read article.

The “McCain/Palin Economy”
Dick McDonald, DickMcDonald.Blogspot.com

The conservative knock on McCain is that he is really a populist; that he really opposed the Bush tax cuts because they unfairly favored the rich. He doesn’t say so now just like he now says he wants to build “the” fence first – and implement his populism (amnesty) later. Republicans call him a maverick mainly because he believes that “freedom” should not favor the rich – a trait known as a cornerstone of liberalism. Unfortunately John McCain has never found a way to adequately satisfy his compassion for fairness with his fiscal conservative beliefs.

Republicans in Alaska say Sarah Palin is cut from the same cloth – a fiscal conservative with a “fairness doctrine”. She sent “everyone” in Alaska a $1,200 check with the windfall Alaska got from oil royalties that rose along with oil prices. She took on big oil and won. She took on the rich and powerful members of her own Republican party and not only won but the voters rewarded her efforts by making her their governor. Her populist streak is understandable, she is a mother of five and underneath it all is concerned they all have a fair shot at the American Dream. She knows that government and those that run it are not always “fair”.

There is nothing wrong with being a fiscal conservative with a heart but Republicans can’t tolerate taxing the people who drive the economy thereby impeding its growth and tightening the collar of socialism around their necks. So the question becomes what can real fiscal conservatives do to help John and Sarah be fair and at the same time deliver the “freedom” fiscal conservatives demand?

How about giving them a plan to deliver the American Dream of financial independence to ALL Americans. Read article.

Team Obama: It's awful that in 2012 use of birth control has become controversial
