Family Security Matters does not stand behind or endorse any candidate for president (or any other public office). However, as the President is also Commander-in-Chief and is responsible for setting national security policy, we will be publishing a variety of articles on both the Republican and Democrat candidates for President during this election year. As always, the opinions of our Contributing Editors are their own, and do not necessarily reflect those of Family Security Matters.

Rep. Sue Myrick (R-NC), co-chair of the 120-member, bipartisan House Anti-Terrorism/Jihad Caucus and a tireless promoter of educating the public about the dangers that Islamic Jihad poses to America, recently sent a letter to President Bush as he prepares to travel to Saudi Arabia to meet with King Abdullah:
Dear Mr. President,
As you prepare for your visit to Saudi Arabia next week, I strongly urge you to raise my concerns regarding the use of textbooks that are sanctioned by the Saudi Government for use within the country and around the world, that preach hatred and violence toward non-Muslims and Western ideals of liberty.
When you are celebrating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of U.S.-Saudi relations, it is extremely important to continue the necessary dialogue that the Saudi Government must end its sponsorship of divisive, violent ideas and embrace the freedom of choice that forms the foundation of a free society. While Saudi Arabia is our ally in the Global War on Terrorism, the textbooks used to educate their children, as well as some of our children who attend schools receiving Wahhabi-funds, are spreading a dangerous ideology that attacked us on 9/11 and continues to threaten the United States and its allies around the world. As more young Saudi citizens take part in the scholarship student visa program, we must be sure that we are not permitting Saudi citizens into our country who seek to do us harm, as we saw with the fifteen hijackers from Saudi Arabia who attacked us on 9/11.
In pursuance of religious toleration, I respectfully urge you to seek reciprocity with our R-1/R-2 visa program that allows clergy to come and preach within the United States. I believe it is essential to a true dialogue between religions to allow clergy to come and speak to foreign audiences. No one should be prohibited from entering a country based on their religious beliefs.
As we continue to work with the Saudi Arabian Government, it is essential that they end their practice of exporting terrorism. Reports claim that the Saudi rehabilitation program of released Guantanamo detainees conditions the release on agreement not to attack within Saudi Arabia. If true, this is obviously detrimental to defeating the jihadist ideology that inspires our enemies.
I hope you will raise these issues when you are with King Abdullah and wish you a safe and successful trip to Saudi Arabia, as well as Egypt and Israel. These points and several others are part of my 10 point "Wake Up America" agenda that I recently released. If you would like to discuss this agenda in detail, I would welcome the conversation.
Sincerely,
Sue Myrick
Member of Congress
As Family Security Matters informed you last month, Myrick's impressive "Wake Up America" agenda aims to reverse the trend of public complacency about the dangers of Islamic Jihad due to the fact that we have not been attacked since 9/11. Myrick wants to "explain to people what the roadblocks are" regarding the fight against terrorism here in America.
Terrorism is not a partisan issue, but an issue critical to all Americans, and you can count on Family Security Matters to continue to bring you the latest on Myrick's activities and other information you need regarding these vital concerns.
