Senior Intelligence Officials: Attempted Terror Attack "Certain"

The five senior leaders of the U.S. intelligence community told a Senate panel they are "certain" that terrorists will attempt another attack on the United States in the next three to six months.
If true, why do you think the jihadists feel emboldened?

Understanding Obama: The Making of a Fuehrer
Ali Sina, Faith Freedom.org

America is at the crucial moment of its history. I cannot think of any disaster greater than putting a pathological narcissist in control of world’s most powerful army.

Narcissists are empty in substance but full on promises. Obama has not proposed a single concrete workable plan, but he has raised the hopes and expectations of millions of people with his promises. The glorious tomorrow that he offers is no more real than the Styrofoam Greek columns that adorned his image during his acceptance speech. The world of the narcissist is a world of smoke and mirrors.

I must confess that I did not like Senator Barack Hussein Obama from the first time I saw him. At first I was excited to see a black candidate. He looked youthful, spoke well, appeared to be confident – a good package. However, I was put off soon, not just because of his shallowness but also because there was an air of haughtiness in his demeanor that was unsettling. His posture and is body language were loader than his empty words.

There is nothing more dangerous than the cult of personality. When you fall for someone to this extent that Obama’s followers have fallen for him, you surrender your reason and individuality to him willingly. When millions of people surrender their hearts and their minds to one person the result can be catastrophic. This is what happened in Germany with Hitler, in China with Mao, In Soviet Union with Stalin, in Cuba with Castro, in Iran with Khomeini, so on so forth. Today, we think these men were monsters, but that was not what millions of their worshipper thought. Those people loved them. Dictators can’t dictate, unless people are willing to be dictated.

It is surreal to see the level of hysteria of his admirers. This phenomenon is unprecedented in American politics. Women scream and swoon during his speeches. They yell and shout to Obama, “I love you.” Never George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Franklin Roosevelt. Martin Luther King Jr. or Ronald Reagan aroused so much raw emotions. Despite their achievements, none of them was raised to the rank of Messiah. The Illinois senator has no history of service to the country. He has done nothing outstanding except giving promises of change and hyping his audience with hope. It’s only his words, not his achievements that is causing this much uproar.

During 1979, when the Iranians were tired of the dictatorial regime of the late Shah, they embraced Khomeini, not because they wanted Islam, but because he promised them change. The word in the street was, “anything is better than the Shah.” They found their error when it was too late. Read article.

Action and Substance vs. the Debate Game
Colonel Bob Pappas, USMC, Ret., Gulf1.com

John McCain has proven his dedication to this country with his time, his talents, his fortitude, his body and his blood. Obama has done nothing at the personal level for the country (but has been a Community Organizer) and would do everything he can to "change it." To what? Let's get it straight, from the time he began his campaign to date his rhetoric has been forced to become more centrist, not because he believes what he is saying, but to score points with an unwitting public.

In regard to the question: "What happens if he (McCain) dies in office?" That question cuts both directions. I trust Sarah Plain's instincts if not the breadth or depth of her experience more so than a Harvard trained attorney and his choice of a Vice Presidential candidate who by his own admission is not Obama's best choice.

Obama's first major decision as Presidential candidate was to choose Biden. If that does not give liberals, Democrats and other socialists pause, at the least it calls into question his ability to arrive at a sound decision. Obama has been so profoundly molded by his handlers that he doesn't know what he thinks despite nearly two years of campaigning - and it shows. Read article.

Why Obama will lose
David Deming, The Edmond Sun.com

When Benjamin Franklin was dispatched to France as ambassador of the United States in 1776, he won the hearts of the French through his authenticity. Rather than take on an affected and phony continental style, Franklin eschewed the powdered wig of the European gentleman and donned the fur cap of an American frontiersman. Original genius and polymath, Franklin understood that the French would see through any false pretension but respect an authenticity that sprang from an unpretentious and naive love of country.

What a contrast there is between Franklin and Barack Obama. Obama is a Harvard lawyer who is a mile wide and an inch deep. He is only the latest in a long line of shallow elites that consider it stylish and intellectual to despise their own culture and heritage.

Nothing exemplifies Obama’s antipathy for American culture better than his statement that Americans “cling to” religion and guns out of frustration or bitterness. We only can suppose that Obama regards religion or firearms as aberrations that need to be eradicated.

Of course, both guns and religion are essential aspects of American culture. The United States was founded by people seeking religious freedom. Does the word “Pilgrim” ring a bell with anyone? Our freedom and the right to self-government were won by farmers with guns.

The choice of Sarah Palin as John McCain’s running mate has been devastating for the Obama campaign precisely because she is everything Obama is not. Palin is not ashamed of her culture or country. She is not embarrassed by being an American, but naively embraces her birthright. Unassisted by affirmative action, Palin has risen to national prominence on the basis of her character, intelligence and natural gifts. In a word, she has guts. This is a woman who is proud of her country, not because it has granted her personal success, but because she respects what America stands for: freedom, opportunity, and individualism.

Obama is a vapid demagogue, a hollow man that despises American culture. He is ill-suited to be president of the United States. As the weeks pass, more Americans will come to this realization and elect McCain/Palin in a landslide. Read article.

Guilt by Association?
JB Williams, NMJ.us

The long list of evil Obama associates seems to grow daily and although Obama has spent the last few years dodging questions, ignoring demands for full open disclosure of his past and making excuses about a plethora of bad associations, one fact seems glaringly obvious...Obama has far more to hide than to share!

A Christian?

For months, despite his Arab Muslim name and background, Obama told the public via his surrogates in the press, that he was not a Muslim but a devoted Christian and he offered as proof, his twenty year membership in the Rev. Wright’s church of radical racism, where he and wife Michelle were married, their children were baptized and the Obama family sat in a pew for twenty years without ever noticing that they belonged to a radically anti-American church of racism.

A Community Organizer?

Listed as the sole accomplishment on Obama’s résumé was “community organizing.” So, people naturally wanted to know what his community organizing was all about.

That’s when the names Saul Alinsky and William Ayers surfaced. Saul Alinsky was the father of the communist practice known as “community organizing,” the practice of exploiting poor and under-educated communities through race-baiting and class warfare. William Ayers is of course the famed convicted terrorist from left-wing homegrown terror organization Weatherman.

The basis for this particular group of community organizers is the communist strategy of exploiting poor, youthfully ill-informed and easily manipulated pockets of the population into mobilizing on behalf of their organizers’ agenda. In this case, Alinsky and Ayers set the radical left-wing agenda. Read article.

Hiding the Ball
David Limbaugh, Townhall.com

Why does Barack Obama play hide the ball with his personal resume, concealing his extreme leftist ideology and denying his damning associations? Question kind of answers itself, wouldn't you say? Be concerned, very concerned.

Obama hides his liberalism for the same reason every other liberal presidential candidate has: The electorate tilts center-right. This isn't just my gut speaking or some self-serving theory I'm propounding.

The Battleground poll -- a well-respected bipartisan affair conducted by the Terrance Group, a Republican polling organization -- and Lake Research Partners, a Democratic organization, tells us 60 percent of Americans identify themselves as conservatives.

But the specifics are even more telling. Read article.

They Gave Your Mortgage to a Less Qualified Minority
Ann Coulter, Human Events.com

On MSNBC this week, Newsweek's Jonathan Alter tried to connect John McCain to the current financial disaster, saying: "If you remember the Keating Five scandal that (McCain) was a part of. ... He's really getting a free ride on the fact that he was in the middle of the last great financial scandal in our country."

McCain was "in the middle of" the Keating Five case in the sense that he was "exonerated." The lawyer for the Senate Ethics Committee wanted McCain removed from the investigation altogether, but, as The New York Times reported: "Sen. McCain was the only Republican embroiled in the affair, and Democrats on the panel would not release him."

So John McCain has been held hostage by both the Viet Cong and the Democrats.

The Senate Ethics Committee lawyer who investigated McCain already had explained that scandal away -- repeatedly. It was celebrated lawyer Robert Bennett, most famous for defending a certain horny hick president a few years ago.

In February this year, on Fox News' "Hannity and Colmes," Bennett said, for the eight billionth time:

"First, I should tell your listeners I'm a registered Democrat, so I'm not on (McCain's) side of a lot of issues. But I investigated John McCain for a year and a half, at least, when I was special counsel to the Senate Ethics Committee in the Keating Five. ... And if there is one thing I am absolutely confident of, it is John McCain is an honest man. I recommended to the Senate Ethics Committee that he be cut out of the case, that there was no evidence against him." Read article.

Who is the bigger issue, Rick Davis or Jim Johnson?
Ed Morrissey, Hot Air.com

Today the New York Times launched its latest attack on this campaign in its capacity as an Obama advocacy organization. Let us be clear about what this story alleges: The New York Times charges that McCain-Palin 2008 campaign manager Rick Davis was paid by Freddie Mac until last month, contrary to previous reporting, as well as statements by this campaign and by Mr. Davis himself.

In fact, the allegation is demonstrably false. As has been previously reported, Mr. Davis separated from his consulting firm, Davis Manafort, in 2006. As has been previously reported, Mr. Davis has seen no income from Davis Manafort since 2006. Zero. Mr. Davis has received no salary or compensation since 2006. Mr. Davis has received no profit or partner distributions from that firm on any basis — weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly, semi-annual or annual — since 2006. Again, zero. Neither has Mr. Davis received any equity in the firm based on profits derived since his financial separation from Davis Manafort in 2006.

Further, and missing from the Times’ reporting, Mr. Davis has never — never — been a lobbyist for either Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac. Mr. Davis has not served as a registered lobbyist since 2005. Read article.

Obama's Patriotic Tonic
Kenneth Blackwell, NY Sun.com

During his Fox News interview with Bill O'Reilly, Barack Obama responded to one question where the statistics contradicted his position by saying that "there are lies, damned lies, and statistics." He then went on to say that 95% of Americans would get a tax break under his economic plan.

That's ironic, because his comment on "damned lies and statistics" is the perfect commentary for his own plan. Taken with Joe Biden's novel definition of patriotism, Team Obama is making an argument that Americans have never bought.

The statistics speak for themselves. Only 62% of Americans pay federal income tax, meaning that 38% get a 100% refund of any taxes withheld. So Senator Obama's 95% that will receive money from the government includes roughly 33% of Americans who pay no income tax. One-third of Americans pay no income taxes yet would receive a government check of perhaps $1,000 or more.

That is pure income redistribution. Some pundits argue that this is Keynesian demand-side economics. It is not. Having the government take money from business entities or affluent individuals and giving it to those who pay no federal income taxes is not Keynesian. It's Marxist. Read article.

Render unto Obama
Ed Morrissey, Hot Air.com

First we had the Vero Possumus seal, and then the Barackopolis. One might have thought that Team Obama would have learned their lesson on hubris and self-absorption, but a deal with a British firm goes even farther. Democrats have begun striking coins with Barack Obama’s profile — and already proclaiming him President:

The coins already sold to the Democrats will be presented to the senators, congressmen, governors and other politicians they are being given to within the next two weeks.

There will also be a television advertising campaign launched in the US.
The company directors got the idea of producing the coins after seeing actress Meryl Streep talking about Barack Obama on a television programme.
When they got in touch with the Democrats the party jumped at the chance. And the coins have proved such a hit that locally produced versions have already been launched to compete with the UK originals.

The coins show Senator Obama’s face, along with a picture of the White House and the legend “President of the United States of America.”

Apparently, the coin does not include the new motto of the United States: Vero Possumus. Instead, it declares Obama President, well ahead of when Americans get to make that choice. If that seems rather presumptuous, it only appears that way to those who have not watched the cult of personality grow over the last few months.

Julius Caesar was the first Roman to put his image on coins, which started his downfall. Barack Obama may be the first person in history to start striking coins in his image before taking power. Maybe he just wants to look like all those other presidents on the dollar bills, but this is starting to get … creepy. 'The Taranto Principle'
R. Emmett Tyrrell, Jr., NY Sun.com

Years from now, in journalism schools, they will call it the "Taranto Principle." At least that is what they will call it, if they still have journalism schools years from now. What is the Taranto Principle? It is a principle laid down by the Wall Street Journal's perceptive editorialist, James Taranto.

Like all other thoughtful observers of American press, Mr. Taranto recognizes that they are heavily biased toward the Democratic Party and the left in general. Yet, while many who hold that this advances the Democratic Party and the left, Mr. Taranto believes that it has a harmful effect on left-wing politics, often causing left-wing candidates to lose at the polls.

According to the Taranto Principle, the press's failure to hold left-wingers accountable for bad behavior merely encourages the left's bad behavior to the point that its candidates are repellent to ordinary Americans. According to Mr. Taranto, in 2004 the press quietly went along with Senator Jean-Francois Kerry's exaggerated claims to heroism and military prowess, thus encouraging his braggadocio and leaving him utterly unprepared when his fellow vets stepped forward and demonstrated that he had been a dreadful showoff in Vietnam.

The same process is playing out with the MSM's attacks on Gov. Sarah Palin, helping rather than hurting her. Read article.
