In last Thursday's debate, Mrs Palin didn't need to be much more than a Pygmalion politician: to show she is a fast study, able to muster an appearance of competence and fluency, to leave the Saturday Night Live team scratching their heads for easy one-liners.

 

Eliza Doolittle didn't win hearts for her newly acquired grasp of polite manners, but because of the hot, unschooled heart that oftentimes beat through her shell of shallow learning. And the joy of Mrs Palin, what endears her to Middle America and fascinates every British woman I know, is her quality that cannot be bottled and sold: authenticity.

 

It shines out, even through her shopping-channel presentation, the Day-Glo patriotism of her XXL Old Glory lapel pin, her talent for talking while perpetually smiling, the cheeseball winks, the local DJ shout-outs to kids at her brother's elementary school, the exaggerated nose wrinkles when uttering something as disgusting as “single-sex relationships” or “redistribution of wealth”. She is Nicole Kidman as the driven weather girl in To Die For, Reese Witherspoon, the ruthless high-school candidate in Election. A candy-coated ball of granite.

 

When she offered “a bit of reality from Wasilla Main Street”, Joe Biden had to counter quickly with the word down in Kay's Restaurant and the Home's Depot in Wilmington. Read article.

The 2008 presidential election in America is the most crucial election in this country's history, not because the issues are that critical but because of Sen. Barack Obama. The Democratic presidential candidate's language, posture and demeanor suggest that he may suffer from narcissistic personality disorder, or NPD. NPD is a pervasive pattern of grandiosity, need for admiration and a lack of empathy. The following are some of the symptoms of NPD that can be seen in Sen. Obama:

 

He subtly misrepresents facts, opportunistically shifts positions, ignores data that conflict with his fantasy world, is overly confident and acts presidential despite commensurate merits and his modest life achievements, considers himself above the law, talks about himself in the third person, has a messianic vision of himself and his "mission," displays false modesty while often evincing haughtiness, sublimates aggression, holds grudges and behaves as an eternal adolescent. These are narcissistic traits as seen in Sen. Obama by Dr. Sam Vaknin. The author of "The Malignant Self Love," Vaknin states, "Barack Obama appears to be a narcissist."

 

NPD is the prime disorder experienced by all the madmen of history – from Hitler to Stalin, Mao, Kim, Pol Pot, Osama, Khomeini, Saddam and Idi Amin. These men wreaked havoc and killed millions. They looked normal. Few suspected their insanity until it was too late.

 

Obama shares something else with these infamous narcissists: a chaotic childhood. One determining factor in the development of NPD is childhood abuse, such as the neglecting of his or her emotional needs.

 

Pathological narcissism is not run-of-the-mill narcissism – someone with a hedonistic or self-centered sense of self – but rather someone with a very weak sense of self. Read article.

Wells, whose last work, The Holy Terror, profiled the psychological development of a modern dictator based on the careers of Stalin, Mussolini and Hitler, said of Roosevelt’s reign, “The great trouble with you Americans is that you are still under the influence of that second-rate—shall I say third-rate?—mind, Karl Marx.”

 

That admonition is equally true today—even more so.

 

In October 1939, a month after Great Britain declared war on Germany in that unpleasantry a few of us history buffs remember as “World War II,” Winston Churchill said of communist Russia: “It is a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma...” In true Churchill form, he added wryly, “But perhaps there is a key. That key is Russian national interest.”

 

In other words, if you want to decode “a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma,” just consider the underlying “interest.”

 

A year ago, Barack Hussein Obama was something of an enigma, but his interests are now clear—crystal clear.

Introducing himself to the nation at the 2004 Democratic national convention, Barack Obama spoke not only of his black father, “born and raised in a small village in Kenya,” but of his white mother, “born in a town . . . in Kansas” to a father who “worked on oil rigs and farms through most of the Depression” before enlisting in military service “the day after Pearl Harbor.” What brought them together was “a magical place, America,” he said, adding, “I stand here today, grateful for the diversity of my heritage . . . knowing that . . . in no other country on earth, is my story even possible.”

 

Not only was Obama the real, living embodiment of America’s racial diversity. He was a dazzling presence, outshining the party’s nominee with his look, stage presence, oratorical mastery, and the brilliance of his rhetoric. Nor was that all. This avatar of reconciliation talked of transcending divisions not just racial but political and ideological.

'Indoctrinated' children ushered into Obama-ism

A group of 5- to 12-year-old children in Venice, California, is writing and singing songs promoting Barack Obama's presidential campaign and his familiar messages of "hope" and "change." Some critics say the adults behind the "Sing for Change" choir are indoctrinating the young children involved.

 

Donning blue T-shirts bearing the phrase "Imagine Hope," the group of 22 children recently recorded songs that repeat Barack Obama's "Yes We Can" slogan and declare, in a religious tone, that the Democratic presidential nominee is going to "change the world" and "spread happiness and freedom." A video of the presentation is posted on YouTube and was produced by several Hollywood film industry professionals.

 

Bob Knight, director of the Culture and Media Institute, believes people in Hollywood are convinced Barack Obama is the "messiah" for America.

 

"I think this video is more evidence that a lot of powerful figures in Hollywood are behind Barack Obama," Knight contends. "And this gives him an edge because these are the people that run the networks, they run the studios, and they're doing everything they can to make sure that their candidate is cast in the most positive light possible, while the networks blast his opponents." Obama's Marxism Steps Out of the Shadows

While American politicians were trying to perfume the $700-billion Wall Street bailout with the smell of roses, and while average Americans were worrying about their future, something even more disturbing was in the works this weekend.

 

Marxism stepped out of the shadows to make its first bold public outing in St. Louis, Missouri.

 

Prosecutors and sheriffs from across Missouri have teamed up with something called the Barack Obama Truth Squad, announced KMOV’s News 4, at 6 p.m.

 

“The Barack Obama campaign is asking Missouri law enforcement to target anyone who lies or runs a misleading TV ad during the presidential campaign,” News 4 reported.

 

“They want to remind voters that Obama is a Christian who wants to cut taxes for those making less than $250,000 a year,” said KMOV reporter John Mills.

 

The Barack Obama Truth Squad is an initiative based on pure unadulterated Marxism, a Marxism where the end justifies the means. Through the Marxist dialectic, Marxists are taught to lie and to accuse their detractors of lying.

Obama, with his supposedly high IQ, has a dangerously low EQ (Economics Quotient). As I said in my article last week, this election will hinge on economics. (See “It’s the Economy…” at www.ConservativeTruth.org.) Right now Obama’s friends in the press have the electorate convinced that Obama is the man with a plan for the economy, according to the polls. But the lack of leadership and knowledge of the economy he exhibited on this Democrat bailout plan will put the lie to that in short order. All of his flowery speeches cannot make up for that.

 

It was the corruption at mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac that started the whole sub-prime mortgage disgrace. And guess who “reformed” Jimmy Carter’s Community Reinvestment Act” to force lenders to give mortgages to people who didn’t qualify and who couldn’t afford them? Borrowers who would eventually be financially devastated because they couldn’t make their payments? The clue to this riddle is the tear the “reforms” took place; 1994. Let’s see, who was president then? Oh, yes. Democrat Slick Willie Clinton.

 

As all the financial problems have unfolded, Obama, who claims to be all about change, has clung desperately to the only thing he “knows” about economics. He has continued to parrot the tired old liberal mantra of class warfare. “Those Fat Cat Capitalists on Wall Street are getting rich on the backs of The Workers. Workers of the world, unite! Throw off the chains of bondage and join my Socialist Revolution.” Read article.

The American Spirit was demonstrated in the daily struggle for survival on the frontier, on whaling ships, in work shops, taverns and inns across the lands that would become the United States. The American Spirit burst into life when farmers, shopkeepers, tradesmen and clerks stood their ground at Lexington and Concord. That spirit survived the deprivation and hardship of Valley Forge to emerge victorious at Yorktown. More than a century later, that same American Spirit, with the pride of its navy resting on the bottom of Pearl Harbor, reversed its misfortunes and pursued the enemy to their homeland.

 

The American Spirit isn’t dead but has been severely wounded by people who call themselves Americans without the slightest clue of what it means. They have no sense of history or heritage. These people are largely dependent on the 535 princes, one monarch and nine mages they have empowered to provide for their security, needs and wants.

 

These non-Americans living among us include the rich and poor, men and women, black and white, Democrat and Republican. Their blessings come from government, or so they believe.

 

The American Spirit faces enemies, internal and external, determined to snuff it out. Whether their name is Chavez, Ahdmenijad, Kim Jong-il, Assad or Bin Laden, they all have the same hope, and that is sitting at the bargaining table with the new non-American messiah who is ready, willing and able to indulge his narcissism. Wooing the new messiah with praises, lies and false promises worked before and will work again. Dictators can be quite chummy when it comes to hood-winking the naïve into decisions that inflate their ego at the expense of their country.

 

The obituary may be premature, but it is being written. Here lies the American Spirit, Born July 4, 1776, Deceased November 4, 2008. Rest in Peace. Read article.

I am that segment of America you all currently call Main Street. I am as Middle America as middle gets. I have much more than blue collar roots. Well at least you could see Dad’s blue collar, rest his black lung racked soul, when he shook the coal dust out of it. I also did some time on the factory floor in Chicago before enlisting in the Army. There was no community organizer pretending to look out for me.

 

Life is not always easy out here where people live a real life, but most of us wouldn’t trade it for anything else that the rest of the world, including the alternate universes you live in, has to offer us. Your universe? That is where the basic principles of honor and morality were discarded long ago – replaced by self-adulation. You lie to one another; you lie to us and worst of all you, with relative ease, you can look at your image in the mirror and lie to yourselves - all for the sake of political power, some self-perceived prestige or some utopian ideology that history has repeatedly proven a failure.

 

I am not the Joe Six-pack you envision. I know you better than you know yourselves and that of course will ultimately lead to your end. Read article.

Tom Wolfe, the eminent novelist and sociologist, has a theory that explains what the Democrats are doing to themselves and on Nov. 4 will do to the country. What they are doing is bringing to the presidency, in a time of war and financial crisis, a total novice. That would be Sen. Barack H. Obama. Oh, yes, and his running mate is Sen. Joe Biden, a total airhead.

 

Recently, in stentorian solemnity, this airhead declared to a bemused audience of Democrats that at the time of the 1929 stock market crash, the president of the United States was "Franklin Roosevelt," who addressed the financial peril straight away by getting "on the television." This is the same clown who we are told tapped a reporter on the chest, saying, "You need to work on your pecs." I assume the reporter was male. Though the Democrats insist Gov. Sarah Palin is a boob, she has yet to equal Sen. Biden's buffoonery. Read article.

In an unusually candid interview, a top official for the largest union backing Obama said that internal union polling shows that the race remains much more volatile and fluid in key battleground states than public polling suggests. He warned that low-information swing-state voters are saying they still don't have a firm enough grasp on Obama's life-story, character and record for the Illinois Senator to close the deal with them.

 

The comments by the official, AFL-CIO deputy political director Mike Podhorzer, are surprisingly frank and seemed intended as a reality check at a time when polls show the momentum has clearly swung in Obama's favor.

 

"This election remains extremely volatile in the battlegrounds," Podhorzer told us. "The public polls are giving a false sense of precision about where the race is. That's a story that's not really being told."

 

Strikingly, Podhorzer said that his union's internal polls -- which push voters hard on the question of whether people are really firmly committed to their pick -- show that as many as "15 to 20 percent" of battleground state voters remain "persuadable," as he put it, despite what public polls say about the level of undecided voters. Journalists continue to ask, “What was John McCain thinking in selecting the gaffe-prone Gov. Sarah Palin?”

 

In what has now become a disturbing pattern, the Alaska governor seems either unable or unwilling to avoid embarrassing statements that are often as untrue as they are outrageous. Recently, for example, in an exclusive interview with news anchor Katie Couric, Palin gushed, “When the stock market crashed, Franklin D. Roosevelt got on the television and didn’t just talk about the, you know, princes of greed. He said, ‘Look, here’s what happened.’ ” Apparently the former Alaskan beauty queen failed to realize that in 1929 there was neither widespread television nor was Franklin Roosevelt even President.

 

Sometimes the Idaho-native Palin seems to confuse and embarrass her own running mate. Shortly after her nomination, she introduced a “John McAmerica;” then she referred to the Republican ticket as the “Palin-McCain administration;” and finished by calling Sen. Obama, “Senator George Obama.” The Palin gaffes seem to be endless: on her way to Washington to meet the national press corps, Palin, the mother of five, once again stumbled — this time characterizing Senator Biden as “Congressman Joe Biden,” who, she chuckled, was “good looking.” Read article.
