While You Were Sleeping
Rich Carroll, 2SistersFromTheRight.com
"While you were sleeping, your tax dollars were hijacked by a leftist liberal agenda that embraces every anti-American thought and group in the world. You were too busy enjoying the good life to notice that “change” would be the end of capitalism and the beginning of a socialist state."
While you were sleeping, a man with far more roots to Islam and Africa has risen to our sovereign nation’s pinnacle of power with a one word campaign: Change. You were too busy enjoying the good life of prosperity to notice his “change” would be the end of capitalism that made this nation the envy of the world to turn America into a socialist state.
While you were sleeping, you failed to notice this candidate garnered global support and money from every terrorist Muslim organization on Earth. You were not outraged and did not demand background investigations into his ties, his citizenship, or his friends and associates. You kept quiet and did nothing. This same candidate could not get a job with the post office because of his terrorist and communist connections, yet you sit quietly while he “assumes” the role of President.

Barack Obama and the End of the Republic
Sher Zieve, NewsByUs.com
Evidence appears to be mounting that strongly indicates Democrat Presidential candidate Barack Hussein Obama is not a natural-born United States citizen, which is required of all who run for the presidency of the USA. Attorney Philip J. Berg filed a lawsuit against Barack Obama and the DNC (Democrat National Committee) on 15 September 2008. Neither Obama nor the DNC have responded to the suit - indicating that they admit the charges brought by Berg are accurate. Even after the filing of the Berg suit, Obama and his campaign have still refused to present a proper certified birth certificate showing that he is a natural-born US citizen.
By his lack of response, candidate Obama is admitting that he is not. Thus, Barack Obama is admitting that he is, indeed, Kenyan. But, as he is the Democrat candidate and apparently a true African running for the presidency of the United States of America, he is being allowed to get away with it.
For the first time in history, US voters are being asked to choose between continuing the Republic or bending to the will of a totalitarian Communist candidate. It would seem to be a “no-brainer,” but with the great4est voter fraud in US history being perpetrated it just might happen. We must all vote and vote en masse for John McCain if we are to save the country from a self-proclaimed dictatorship. If we don’t, Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez will have a new ally.

What are the candidates hiding?
Kenneth P. Vogel, Yahoo.com
In the past week, Cindy McCain released two pages of her 2007 tax return, and Joe Biden let reporters review — but not copy — 49 pages of his medical records.
But those steps did not satisfy critics, reporters and opposition researchers, who pressed for McCain’s tax schedules and the previous years’ returns for her and her husband, Republican presidential candidate John McCain. And they demanded the results of follow-up exams given to Biden, the Democratic vice presidential candidate, after his 1988 aneurysms.
And those aren’t the only hotly sought but unreleased records that could shed light on the candidates — and the families of those candidates — who are seeking to run the country. With less than two weeks to go until Election Day, each presidential campaign is accusing the other of withholding key documents that could answer outstanding questions about the personal and professional lives of the people at the top of the tickets, resulting in something of a transparency race subplot.
So without further ado, here are 10 of the top missing documents.

The Truth That Will Not Be Told
Paul Eidelberg, Political Mavens.com
If you are wondering why the deluge of information about Obama’s shady past has not eliminated him from the presidential race; If you are wondering why Obama may become America’s next president despite voluminous evidence of his being a liar and a fraud; Let me reveal the secret underlying this grotesque state of affairs. We are living in a postmodern world where truth and falsity are no longer relevant.
In Barack Obama postmodernism (moral relativism) unites with the modernism that began with Machiavelli, who deified the self—the self-creating self that dispensed with the verities of the Bible.
Countless people who support Obama care not an iota about truth and falsity. Nihilism is pervasive. Propagated initially by the universities and subsequently spread by the mass media, nihilism permeates the Democratic Party, where the liberal-left is now triumphant. How appropriate that Obama should be the presidential candidate of this party! Obama is not only postmodern but post-American. He has created his own identity, which means he is a pure opportunist.
What attracts so many people to Obama is the very fact that he is a liar obviously infatuated by his own oratory, What matters to such Obamanites is not truth but the SHOW, the SHOW, the SHOW. That’s what Obama’s campaign is all about: not ISSUES, which require sound knowledge and proven experience, but SHOWMANSHIP. ENTERTAINMENT is all.

Obama Torpedoed, Biden Suspected
Paul R. Hollrah, NMJ.us
Those of us who’ve served in the military and who understand military customs and courtesies cannot help but wonder what terrible emotional conflict our active duty military personnel will suffer if, by some stretch of the imagination, Barack Obama becomes their commander in chief.
Barack Obama is the farthest thing from what it takes to be a Marine or a soldier. And for those Marines from the 8th & I Barracks who perform escort duty and other ceremonial functions at the White House, one of the most coveted assignments in the Corps, an Obama presidency would likely turn what has always been a plum assignment into something much to be avoided.
In a recent Military Times poll of 4,300 subscribers, there was overwhelming support for John McCain. According to the poll, 68 percent of active-duty and retired servicemen and women support McCain, while 23 percent support Obama. The numbers were nearly identical among officers and enlisted troops. All of which brings into question the impact on morale and reenlistment quotas if Obama is elected on November 4.
To what extent will they be willing to “fall on their swords” for a commander in chief for whom they have little or no respect? And if Obama is elected on November 4 and sworn into office on January 20, how long will it be before our enemies around the world put him to the test, and how will he respond?

Maybe Obama Needs Testing, Sen Biden, But Americans Don't
Arnold Ahlert, Political Mavens.com
“Remember I said it standing here. if you don’t remember anything else I said. Watch, we’re gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy.”–Democratic VP candidate Joe Biden on our enemies’ likely reaction to an Obama presidency.
In one incredible statement, Joe Biden has encapsulated one of the principle fears of clear-thinking Americans: our enemies know a naif when they see one. They see a man who said “tiny” countries like Iran, Cuba and Venezuela pose “no serious threat” to the United States. They see a man who would have allowed Americans soldiers to lose a war they’ve won in Iraq. They see a man who urged “both sides to show restraint” when the Russians seized control of Georgia. They see the true meaning behind Barack Obama’s promise to “restore our image around the world:” we will accommodate those that hate this country, and “negotiate without pre-conditions” with those who would destroy us.
In a time of economic turmoil, it is easy for Americans to forget that our enemies are always plotting. It has been made immeasurably easier by a mainstream media which has done everything possible to minimize one of the Bush administration’s most enduring triumphs: there have been no other domestic terror attacks for eight years.

An Instructive Candidacy: What Sarah Palin taught us about ourselves.
Victor Davis Hanson, NRO.com
Soon this depressing campaign will be over, and we can reflect on what we learned from our two-month introduction to Sarah Palin.
Clearly, it is more than we would have ever wished to know about ourselves.
First, there turns out to be no standard of objectivity in contemporary journalism. Palin’s career as a city councilwoman, mayor, and governor of Alaska was never seen as comparable to, or — indeed, in terms of executive experience — more extensive than, Barack Obama’s own legislative background in Illinois and Washington. Somehow we forgot that a mother of five taking on the Alaskan oil industry and the entrenched male hierarchy was somewhat more challenging than Barack Obama navigating the sympathetic left-wing identity politics of Chicago.
So we seem to have forgotten that the standards of censure of her vice-presidential candidacy were not applied equally to the presidential campaign of Barack Obama. The media at times seems unaware of this embarrassment, namely that their condemnation of Sarah Palin as inexperienced equally might apply to Barack Obama — and to such a degree that by default we were offered the lame apology (reiterated by Colin Powell himself) that Obama’s current impressive campaigning, not his meager political accomplishments, was already an indication of a successful tenure as president. The result is that we now know more about the Palin pregnancies — both of mother and daughter — that we do the relationships of Tony Rezko, Bill Ayers, Reverend Wright, and Father Pfleger with our possible next president.

The Truman Show - How McCain Could Pull Off a Final Week Upset
Dick Morris, NY Post.com
The most reliable surveys put McCain five to seven points behind Obama as we enter the last week of this interminable campaign. But in a race that will be famous for years afterwards for its volatility, it is not too late for the Republican to pull out a victory.
For Harry Truman in 1948, the presidential race shifted dramatically in the final week, and it's happened three more times in the past 30 years. In 1980, Reagan came from eight points behind to a solid victory by winning his sole debate with Carter in the last week of October. In 1992, Clinton, who had fallen behind in the polls because of the pounding he was taking over his liberalism and propensity to raise taxes, surged ahead of Bush when Special Prosecutor Lawrence Walsh announced that he was indicting Defense Secretary Casper (Cap) Weinberger, an indication of Bush's possible complicity in the Iran-Contra scandal. And in 2000, Bush's three-to-four point lead in the polls was erased over the final weekend when reports surfaced that he had been cited for DWI 20 years before and had not revealed the fact to the public. Bush still won the election, of course, but Gore won the popular vote by half a point.
What does McCain have to do to pull off a similar shift this time?

Investors' Real Fear: A Socialist Tsunami
IBD Editorials.com
"Why has the market dropped so much?" everyone asks. What is it about the specter of our first socialist president and the end of capitalism as we know it that they don't understand?
Right now it looks like the U.S., which built the mightiest, most prosperous economy the world has ever known, is about to turn its back on the free-enterprise system that made it all possible.
It isn't only that the most anti-capitalist politician ever nominated by a major party is favored to take the White House. It's that he'll also have a filibuster-proof Congress led by politicians who are almost as liberal. Throw in a media establishment dedicated to the implementation of a liberal agenda, and the smothering of dissent wherever it arises, and it's no wonder panic has set in.

What Independent Voters Want
John P. Avlon, Online WSJ.com
Independent voters, once a political afterthought, are now the largest and fastest-growing segment of the American electorate.
This shift led to the nomination of two candidates who ran against the polarizing establishments of their own parties, while preaching the need to reach across the red-state/blue-state divide. Now independent voters may determine who is elected president.
Forty-three percent of undecided swing voters are independents and 47% are centrists, according to a recent Wall Street Journal/NBC poll. Independent voters have been on the rise while the parties have been playing to a shrinking base. This is a generational change. There are now six states where independents outnumber both Republicans and Democrats -- the swing states of Colorado, Iowa and New Hampshire as well as New Jersey, Connecticut and Massachusetts.
Key battleground states this year such as Pennsylvania, Ohio, Virginia and North Carolina each have more than one million independent voters. In California, Florida and Nevada, the number of independent voters has increased more than 300% in the past 20 years, while Democratic and Republican registration has flatlined.
Back in 1954, only 22% of voters identified themselves as independents, according to the American National Election Survey. Fifty years later the number was nearly double. Now, two out of five Americans can't name anything they like about the Democrats, and 50% say the same about Republicans. What happened?

Obama's Publicists
IBD Editorials.com
Have the feeling Barack Obama gets more favorable coverage than John McCain? It's not just a perception, it's a reality, according to yet another study confirming media bias.
The right-of-center sector of the blogosphere has for months maintained that the mainstream media are "in the tank" for Obama. The observant bloggers were right.
"Coverage of McCain has been heavily unfavorable — and has become more so over time," says a Pew Research Center Project for Excellence in Journalism study that looked at newspapers and cable news shows from the end of the conventions to the last presidential debate. Coverage of Obama, naturally, was much more positive than negative or neutral. His ratio of favorable stories to overall stories was more than 2 1/2 times as large as McCain's.

The 'Fact Checking' Fad - opinion journalism disguised as straight reporting
James Taranto, Online WSJ.com
In a September 1984 campaign speech, Walter Mondale, the Democratic presidential nominee and former vice president, asked, "Do you really want Jerry Falwell to pick the next two judges to the Supreme Court?" What reminded us of this was a story from yesterday's New York Times, written by Patrick Healy, which begins as follows:
There is no way, of course, that Senator Barack Obama would ever nominate three controversial figures from his past to serve on the United States Supreme Court: the convicted felon Antoin Rezko; the former Weather Underground radical Bill Ayers; or Mr. Obama's former pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr.
Yet the names and faces of the three men appear in a new television advertisement--running in Michigan and Ohio this week and nationally on Fox News on Monday, at a total cost of $500,000--arguing that Mr. Obama's judgment about his associates shows that he cannot be trusted to pick justices for the Supreme Court.
We wondered if the Times had thought it necessary back in '84 to point out that only the president has the power to make nominations to the federal bench, that Falwell was not running for president, that there was no way he would end up holding any office that would put him in the line of presidential succession, and, therefore, that the premise of Mondale's question was false.

Socialism, Obama-Style
Morris & McGann, Vote.com
If Obama wins and takes a solidly and overwhelmingly Democratic Congress with him -- including a filibuster-proof Senate -- we will have to entrust our system of private ownership, limited government and free enterprise to the tender mercy of the left. But the newly empowered liberals will not have to breach the walls of the private sector, justifying each new intrusion by argument and logic. Rather, they will already be inside the gates, invited there to save these institutions from their own history of greed and mismanagement. Will the left simply leave government there, effectively converting our private enterprise system, where government absorbs about a third of our GDP into a social democracy, à la Europe, where the public sector accounts for almost half of the economy?
