Exclusive: No Matter Who Wins Next Tuesday, National Media are the Big Losers
Less than a week from the end of this historic display of media political bias, I feel permanently and profoundly disgusted by this country’s national media. For the purposes of this discussion, I will lump entertainment and news together because both have made a sport of savagely bashing one side while giving the other side a relative free pass. While it was never a secret that the media favors liberals and the liberal agenda, this particular political cycle has reached absurd depths of such bias.
Historic “News” Hypocrisy
A study by the Pew Research Center has found that John McCain has gotten four times as many negative stories as positive ones, that 60% of stories on McCain were negative and that Barack Obama has gotten twice as many positive stories and only half as many negative ones was John McCain. Sarah Palin gets pounded for the wardrobe expense issue while Barack Obama’s trips to Hawaii, for whatever reason they were made, were a far more expensive use of campaign funds. In addition, a designer once admitted to donating outfits to Hillary Clinton, which is illegal, yet that was never focused on by this media.
The national media’s bias against McCain/Palin has reached such blatant levels that one wonders how any serious member of that propaganda cadre could seriously deny this bias, which spilled generously into the debates. Numerous stories pointed out, for example, how Tom Brokaw filtered out any “viewer questions” that might prove difficult for Barack Obama, such as abortion, immigration, gun control and ACORN. Furthermore, how can we forget the absurdity of having Gwen Ifill moderating a debate when she stands to profit from a fawning, adoring book on Barack Obama. Imagine the odds of having debates moderated by Rush Limbaugh, Anne Coulter and Michelle Malkin and you will get a sense of the ridiculous bias in favor of Obama/Biden we have witnessed.
Mockery Mostly Goes Right
As if the pathetic bias of the news media were not enough, we have seen the GOP ticket pounded on late-night television as well. From September 1st to October 24th, for example, jokes about the GOP ticket outpaced comedy about the Democrat duo by a ratio of 7-to-1 on Letterman and Leno alone, according to the Center for Media and Public Affairs. What is even more astonishing is that in no other campaign in the last two decades has one party’s ticket been mocked by even a 2-to-1 ratio. In other words, the GOP ticket of John McCain and Sarah Palin has been disproportionately bashed in major comedy circles at least four times more than any other ticket in the last 20 years.
Two clear examples of this despicable bias in favor of the Democratic ticket were Barack Obama calling the Penn State mascot the “Nitally Lions” (instead of Nitanny Lions) and Joe Biden commenting that FDR went on television during the 1929 market crash. Barack Obama is portrayed as an athlete, but no athlete I know would make such an absurd mistake. Imagine what would have happened if Sarah Palin made the asinine, ignorant error that Biden made: the media would have swooped down on her with cries of “air-headed Sarah, history guru.”
Nothing but Vile Bullying
We often hear stories of students being bullied by abusive classmates, sometimes to the point of suicide. This society pretends to frown upon abuse in all forms, displaying shock when someone is verbally or physically brutalized. Don Imus and others know what happens when stupid remarks meet politically protected agendas. At the end of the day, liberals scream blasphemy whenever any of their sacred items get bashed, whenever any member of their side is ridiculed or whenever something they hold dear is trampled upon. However, these same liberals have no problem mocking and disrespecting that which they do not agree with and those they detest.
Only a moron would deny that the media, both so-called news and entertainment, has just engaged in the most blatant, vile and despicable display of bias against one side in a national political campaign. The numbers prove it, the stories prove it and common sense demonstrates it. We have witnessed nothing short of a taped, public mugging by the media against the GOP ticket, coupled with perhaps the most detestable favoritism toward a Democrat ticket in recent memory, if not ever.
Conclusion
If Michelle Obama only recently scraped together some pride in the country that allowed her to reach her present position, then I can sincerely say that I have recently lost whatever respect I ever had for this country’s national media. With their present scourging of the GOP ticket and fawning adoration of the Democrat side, the media have sunk to the lowest depths of injustice ever seen by supposedly objective journalism. I have no respect for the parade of clowns that come before me each day in the national news programs propping themselves up as pundits, gurus and objective conveyors of the news.
There was a time, long ago, when true journalists were this society’s information sportscasters, conveying the score before us on important issues. The African-American community has given so much to this country and has endured so much injustice and bias over the years. It is the height of irony that the first serious African-American candidate for the Oval Office will be assisted to his throne by the most biased and unjust barrage of media favoritism ever witnessed in our national stage. The society that hopes to move beyond the days of pushing citizens to the back of the bus because of their race is watching its media push the GOP to the back of the bus because of their politics. What makes matters worse, that same biased media has shoved objectivity, fairness and truth back there as well.
I remember reading that societies thirsting for freedom suffer from the strangling grip of a media that only serves them political and social propaganda. It looks like our society’s freedoms will soon be heading to the sunset behind a parade of useful idiots carrying their new king to his spoils.
