Exclusive: Let’s Face It, This Political Quartet Was ‘Glad It’s Sarah’ and The Pits
Gabriel Garnica, Esq.
I was always liked Gladys Knight and The Pips. One of my favorite singing acts growing up. That being said, this past political cycle featured a singing act of its own. We can call this one “Glad It’s Sarah” and the Pits.
The Only Real One of the Bunch
Many agree that of the four folks who just competed for the top two posts in our government, only Sarah Palin was the real deal.
Barack Obama has so many faces that he needs a rolodex to figure out which one he should use at any given time. One minute he speaks of unity and bipartisanship; the next minute he takes pot shots at Nancy Reagan’s occult dabbling while in the White House. It is real classy stuff to see the media’s messiah trying to harvest some yuks at the expense of an elderly former First Lady. One minute he sounds like Robin Hood, taking from the rich to give to the poor; the next minute he sounds more like he’s just robbing from the responsible to give to the lazy. One minute he speaks of listening to everybody and the next minute he sounds like that everybody will surely not include conservative talk radio. In case you have not figured it out yet or have not snapped out of the media’s Obama worship tour, BHO’s suave, debonair savior routine is about as real as a cheap Halloween costume.
What of Joe Biden? Anyone who has not figured it out long ago that this Joe the bummer is more likely to stick his foot in his mouth than shop at the local Home Depot is two brain cells short of a moron. After all, anyone who thought that FDR was the president and televisions were around during the 1929 market collapse might just indeed be dumber than a fifth-grader. Numerous people came forward to contradict Biden’s Joe Everyday routine during his debate with Sarah Palin to point out that most of what he brought to the table was nothing but fable.
Finally, we get to John McCain. Nobody can deny that McCain is a legitimate American hero and an inspiration to anyone who has served this country. However, honesty demands that we admit was is blatantly obvious. Namely, that John McCain is not a genuine conservative, nor does he represent core conservative principles. If anything, John McCain is the poster child for the losing strategy of watered-down, appeasing and apologetic pseudo-conservative broth. One needs no further evidence of just how imbecilic the notion that conservatives can win by moving to the center than what happened just a week ago. John McCain, as is his pattern, appeased moderates and independents, and those voters dropped him faster than a hot pan when push came to shove.
Despite the disaster that is wimpy conservatism and its unmitigated failure on November 4th, we still have fools like Connecticut’s Chris Shays playing useful idiot to a mainstream media seeking a losing Republican eager to say that the GOP’s path to future victory lies in being less conservative and even wimpier than it has already become. If we learned anything on November 4th, it is that if GOP leaders are too scared to be true conservatives, then there are millions of Americans ready to defend conservative values with their votes regardless.
The Reincarnation of Ronald Reagan
As many have observed, Sarah Palin has come out of nowhere to point out the right direction for the GOP. This intelligent, genuine and unassuming woman is just what the doctor ordered for a party so accustomed to running with its tail between its legs that the only time it even remembers it has a tail is when some Democrat is kicking it in a recent election. She is Ronald Reagan with lipstick when the Republican Party and the conservative movement need a makeover.
If anyone had any doubts that Sarah Palin represents the future of conservatism, the vicious and despicable attacks by Hollywood, the media and the liberal establishment provides the only evidence necessary. Let conservatives who want to win realize that such victory will never come at the table of appeasement and retreat from core conservative principles. Conservatives cannot win by becoming junior liberals, or “liberals lite.” Not only are they pathetic at imitating liberals, but they do not look very attractive wearing the garb of betrayal to the very principles they pretend to embody.
I could not go food shopping without seeing some rag accuse Sarah of being unfaithful, a liar, a slut, a diva or God knows what else. These vile people defamed, mocked and savaged this woman mercilessly in ways they never would have tolerated one of their own to be treated. They ridiculed her intelligence while ignoring the gaffes of their own candidates. They downplayed her experience while magnifying Obama’s blatant inexperience. They questioned the brevity of her service while ignoring the fact that Joe Biden proves that having extensive experience in being wrong is nothing to brag about. In short, the Left perpetuated a public, political and media mugging of Sarah Palin with a barrage of lies and vicious ridicule. As they bashed this woman, liberals revealed themselves to be nothing but thugs out to bruise a perceived threat.
The more an opponent attacks you, the more they must fear you. The more they fear you, the more you must be doing something right. The more you do right, the more others on your side should follow your example. That is, of course, assuming that the others supposedly on your side really are on your side. The recent anonymous attacks on Palin by some in the McCain camp only extends this abuse into a cowardly betrayal within the GOP itself. John McCain lost to Barack Obama because he could not, he did not, answer Obama’s genuine liberalism with genuine conservatism. McCain did not lose because of Sarah Palin. Rather, he lost despite having Sarah.
Conclusion
Few will forget the beautiful music of Gladys Knight and The Pips. A woman out in front and three men playing backup. Anybody dreaming of a future revival of the Republican Party better make sure not to forget this summer’s version of that famous quartet. A genuine conservative woman out in front and three men playing make-believe.
