Exclusive: Has the National Media Moved from Spinning the Present to Dictating the Future?
It has become painfully obvious that the national media long ago gave up the practice of simply reporting the news and moved into the business of reshaping the past and spinning the present to suit its liberal agenda. This is why the disaster that was Jimmy Carter is presented as less disastrous by the day, the glory that was Ronald Reagan is increasingly less shiny and Bill Clinton’s years mysteriously move from embarrassing to the stuff of legend.
Any casual observer of the recent political cycle can attest to the fact that the media threw itself at Obama’s feet like a lonely loser desperate for at least one date. The mounting piles of questionable associations, ominous comments and revealing slips of the tongue melted in the face of a media pathetically infatuated with its chosen candidate. Statistics detailing how the media was seven times more likely to bash the GOP ticket, four times more likely to praise the Democrats and 100% more likely to ignore even the most absurd errors by Obama and Biden were never necessary to drive home the most obvious fact in recent memory. Namely, that most of the media was in the tank for Barack Obama to an embarrassingly obvious level.
If the media and their liberal establishment have long been busy reshaping the past and spinning the present to fit their perception of the world and their particular political and social taste, then is now apparent that even that ridiculous enterprise is not enough for the Left.
Having concealed enough facts, ignored enough information and rationalized enough warnings to drag their sweetheart into the Oval Office, the national media has decided that they must do whatever they can to protect their investment and, consequently, whatever shred of integrity and relevance they might still cling to as, in the immortal words of Obama himself, ignorant conservative hicks grasp their guns and religion.
How does one cover one’s journalistic assets when lying about the past and distorting the present just isn’t enough to fully deodorize the national arena to one’s liking? Logically, one would move on to the only time frame one has not yet infected, the future.
So now we hear the AP and others telling us of rampant threats against Barack Obama coming from mysterious and rampant forces of evil, racism, hatred and intolerance. Videos, games and books discussing the assassination of George Bush as if it was the changing of the leave s in the fall are trivial and negligible. However, have a waitress accidentally spill salt in Obama’s soup and we will be told of a national Right-wing conspiracy to raise his cholesterol level.
First we are told that Americans are too racist to elect an African-American to the White House. Then we are told that there will be protests, riots and violence whether or not he wins or loses. Obama wins the election and no protests, riots or violence result. Having failed miserably at accurately portraying the past and even objectively reporting the present, the national media has increasingly embarked on a new gig; namely, predicting the future. Consequently, society will crumble if manger scenes are allowed during Christmas and Barack Obama will be lucky to get through his first term in one piece.
The man just elected leader of this country by an electoral majority and the media will have us believe that this nation is a cesspool of racial bias, ignorance, injustice and intolerance just waiting to explode all over Barack Obama and his family. Something tells me that all of this nonsense is nothing more than a pathetic, blatant attempt to shift the focus from the viability and value of Obama’s policies and intentions to his health, safety and that of his family.
Furthermore, I have actually heard media types discussing Obama’s second term as if it was a done deal. They openly argue that one term for the golden one is not enough and that the wonderful miracles he will soon perform need time to be properly applied. We are told that criticizing him is racism and founded in deep, inner bias and prejudice.
Let’s see, we have infatuated, liberal media trying to make sure that a new leader is never criticized, often given too much credit and allowed to squirm out of even the most minor faults. We have media whose objectivity regarding this man and many related areas is completely and irreparably destroyed. We have a Democrat majority ready and willing to let Obama play the hero. Finally, we have a leader who somehow manages to hide his self-absorption well enough to fool the hordes of sheep that now comprise the American voting public. If these ingredients do not predict relatively smooth sailing for Obama over the next four years, then nothing can. Sure, there will be protests and complaints from prominent conservative circles. However, all criticism and protests will be perceived as being racist in nature and either brushed off, ignored or portrayed as evil by the media.
If the mainstream media’s news was a network broadcast, we would have two anchors busy twisting the facts of their story to suit their daily lives, a sports reporter paying off the referees to help make his predicted score the final score and a weather anchor predicting rain when a sunny day is coming and sun when rain is in the forecast
Obama cracks a joke about Nancy Reagan’s journeys into the occult while his administration will be about control. Control of critical voices, control of past revelations, control of present revelations, control of media spin and control of future outcomes and information will be on the menu for the next four or more years. Seems to me that Barack Obama and his pet media have no reason to fear the future, for they have already predicted, dictated and manipulated how that future will play out.
At the end of the day, the media that has been a sidekick to Obama in carrying him to the White House has already redefined itself as this nation’s psychic as well.
Take out your umbrellas and put on your high boots, for it is about to rain liberal spin and lies like never before, and all of it will stick to the ground. Oh, by the way, if you refuse to follow their predictions, you might be a racist.
