Exclusive: A WMD Attack Within Five Years?

It is “more likely than not” that terrorists will launch an attack with a weapon of mass destruction (WMD) somewhere in the world within five years, according to a report just released by the independent Commission on the Prevention of Weapons of Mass Destruction Proliferation and Terrorism. Preventing or thwarting such an attack will require "the world community acts decisively and with great urgency,” the report says.

Problem is, the world community – struggling with a front-burner international economic crisis, political correctness run amok, an ill-informed American electorate, creeping global Sharia, and the Western media’s constant soft-soaping of Islamist extremism – has shown it has no stomach for any conflict requiring any measurable level of “decisiveness.” And there does not seem to be any real sense of “great urgency.”

I’m speaking of course of what the report refers to as “the world community.” Those in the business of national and international defense are only a fraction of that world community. That fraction has good information and sharp knives. But that information is too-often ignored by the rest of the world, and the sharp knives are only authorized for use when directed by outsiders to do so. And unfortunately that direction – even tactical manipulation – often comes from the likes of anti-Defense U.S. Congressional leaders with names like Pelosi, Reid, and Murtha. Then we have Misters Obama and Biden to look forward to in January, neither of whom believes Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps should be designated a terrorist organization (and their votes have clearly reflected such).

Keep in mind Iran is a state sponsor of terrorism – don’t get me started on that country’s overwhelming financial and operational support of Hizballah (which Homeland Security chief Michael Chertoff says “makes Al Qaeda look like a minor league team”) – with an internationally-defiant nuclear and ballistic-missile development program and a president who has threatened to wipe countries off the map.

But it’s not just development. Theft and loss of nuclear material are equally disturbing. In October, Dr. Mohamed El Baradei, director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, warned (and his warning is included in the Commission’s report), “The possibility of terrorists obtaining nuclear or other radioactive material remains a grave threat,” adding, “the number of incidents reported to the Agency involving the theft or loss of nuclear or radioactive material is disturbingly high… .”

The establishment of the Commission on the Prevention of Weapons of Mass Destruction Proliferation and Terrorism was a necessity – born of the 9/11 Commission Report (2004) – and addresses not only nuclear, but biological and chemical threats. But like any such study, the Commission’s report is simply findings and recommendations. And the mainstream media will twist, truncate, interpret, and misinterpret its findings and recommendations to serve its own political agenda; just like the MSM did with the 9/11 Commission Report and the propagandized claims that the report “proved” pre-war Iraq was not linked to Al Qaeda: This despite the fact that multiple connections were revealed in the 9/11 report for anyone who would take the time to actually read it.

So what do we make of the new report’s determination that terrorists will “likely” attempt a WMD attack within five years?

We have to act – as is recommended – “decisively,” and we must approach the issue with “great urgency.” Otherwise as the report says, the “
cascade of proliferation” could very well “doom populations the world over.”

I am also of the opinion held by Islamist expert Dr. Serge Trifkovic who says, "In order to defend itself against the onslaught of global jihad, which is coming in the century ahead – I have no doubt of that – the West would need to redefine itself and to say what exactly is the geographic and cultural space to be defended and in the name of what. Defending it in the name of a tepid, lukewarm ideology of multiculturalism is impossible. Multiculturalism and post-modern liberalism are not worthy dying for. They are not something that can inspire people to do what their ancestors had done at Poitiers [the Battle of Tours in 732] and at the walls of Vienna in 1683."

Make no mistake; the enemy is coming. And he is bringing to the fight any weapon he can get his bloody hands on.
