Five Sept. 11 Suspects to Face Trial in New York

The Obama administration has announced it will try 9-11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and other 9-11 Gitmo detainees in a civilian federal court in New York, allowing them the protections of the U.S. Constitution even though they are not U.S. citizens.

Do you agree with this?

Exclusive: From Obama to Russia with Love

Barack Obama is clearly operating out of his league. And his advisors – those who are capable – are apparently advising him on how best to advance his predetermined agenda as opposed to offering substantive advice on serious national-security issues. This purported letter to Russia – offering to abandon plans for U.S. missile sites in Poland and the Czech Republic if Russia will help end Iran’s nuclear weapons ambitions -- is a perfect pipe-dream, political-theateresque example. And the Russians even slapped it down.

First of all, no one is going to persuade Iran to stop developing its nuke-weps and ballistic-missile programs. Second, Russia cannot be trusted – let’s not forget Georgia. And third, don’t think for one minute that Kremlin operatives and Russian businessmen (with Moscow’s blessing) aren’t running in-and-out of the same back doors that illegal technology is passing through (and big money changing hands) between Teheran and the various states, terrorist organizations, and international companies that derive financial benefit from Iran’s continued nuke-weps and ballistic-missile programs.

But don’t just take it from me.

In a conversation with Christopher Holton, director of the Center for Security Policy’s Divest Terror Initiative (which tracks publicly traded companies that operate in – or support –terrorist-sponsoring states), he says:

“Notice that Obama referred to ‘long-range weapons,’ not nuclear weapons. This is more evidence that the guy is resigned to Iran getting ‘the bomb,’ and he will do nothing – not even diplomatically or economically – to prevent Iran from becoming a nuclear power.

Holton adds “what is also alarming” is that Iran already is launching satellites, and the technology required to conduct successful satellite launches is not unlike the technology required to launch long-range multi-stage intercontinental ballistic missiles.

”Obama is giving away something to the Russians in return for services that the Russians couldn’t render even if they were inclined to do so, which they're not,” says Holton. “Iran is well on its way to ‘long-range weapons.’ And in the process Obama is going to abandon new, highly reliable allies like Poland and probably cause multi-generational resentment and distrust of America. To top it all off, by only seeking to stop Iran from getting ‘long-range weapons,’ our allies in Western Europe and Israel are being told, ‘We're safe, so you're on your own.’”

Clare M. Lopez, vice president of the Intelligence Summit, agrees.

“This administration is turning U.S. foreign policy on its head – showing weakness and signaling a willingness to give up what should be non-negotiable positions (missile defense in Europe) before there’s any hint of willingness on the other side to compromise or even talk about it,” says Lopez, a former CIA operations officer. “Witness Medvedev slapping down the Obama administration’s proffer in about two seconds flat. Witness Iran’s similar contempt for the administration’s pleas for talks. See how shabbily Obama treated British Prime Minister Gordon Brown yesterday, at the WH, too. Yes, I know the UK has just about succumbed 100 percent to the enemy. But if we have any hope of salvaging the place, we’ve got to team up and work together.”

Lopez adds, “These guys just do not get it. And that's to our national security detriment.”

Meanwhile, the Obama camp seems preoccupied with the less-than-happy comments about Obama from talk-radio host Rush Limbaugh.
