THE UNITED KINGDOM: President of the World Council of the Cedars Revolution Joseph P. Baini has sent a letter to British Prime Minister Gordon Brown expressing justifiable concern over the UK’s willingness to engage in low-level talks with the terrorist group Hizballah.

A portion of the letter reads:

“Are you aware of the pain and suffering this decision has already caused and will continue to cause to millions of people simply by announcing the possibility of opening dialogue with that terrorist militia Hizballah?

“Can you imagine the hurt, the despair and the feeling of betrayal by the families of over thousands of victims who were killed in the defense of their sovereignty, independence and democratic freedoms at the hands of Hizballah's evil sponsors the Syrian and Iranian regimes in Lebanon? Already Hizballah tramples upon their memory, their graves and their legitimate right to honorable recognition of their martyrdom.
“The State of play at the present moment is that Hizballah is one of the most destructive terrorist organizations in the world. Your government’s legitimizing their entity as a major power with which you open dialogue and with which you would negotiate, would not only exacerbate all previous efforts to disarm them, but would also add fuel to their claim and determination to acquire, possess and use Iranian and Syrian supplied rockets with nuclear war heads against any community be it within Lebanon or against Lebanon’s southern neighbor Israel.

“Great Britain has been a powerful leader in the struggle against terrorism wherever it may be throughout the world. Great Britain has been a strong advocate of United Nations Security Council Resolutions (UNSCR) 1559 and 1701. As such, the question that begs asking is what has changed in the recent past to divert The United Kingdom from its original course?”

[The letter may be read in its entirety here.]

IRAN: Speaking of Hizballah and Iran, there is this unbelievable comment published March 1st in the New York Times:

“… the equating of Iran with terror today is simplistic. Hamas and Hizballah have evolved into broad political movements widely seen as resisting an Israel over-ready to use crushing force. It is essential to think again about them, just as it is essential to toss out Iran caricatures.”

What?

Fortunately, we have the Center for Security Policy’s Christopher Holton, who has written an excellent and commonsensical piece, “The myth of America's ‘tough’ Iran policy.”

According to Holton,
Obama’s plans to shift U.S.-Iran policy from the “policies of the past” to a policy of  “constructive dialogue” and “mutual respect,” is a pipedream; not to mention the fact that America’s policy toward Iran has never been “tough.”

“Iran has been allowed to kidnap and kill Americans for decades, whether directly or by proxy, without fear of severe repercussions.  For years the US State Department has declared that Iran is the world's "most active" sponsor of terrorism, yet the Ayatollahs have not been forced to pay a significant price. Iran has armed and aided our enemies-including Al Qaeda-and threatened our allies and has gotten away with it.

“Now, the Iranians are developing nuclear weapons along with the ballistic missiles with which to deliver them and, still, there is no tough policy toward Iran.”

WESTERN EUROPE: International terrorism expert Douglas Farah discusses a piece in the Global Muslim Brotherhood Daily Report: “the otherwise unreported here news of a major criminal investigation into several Muslim Brotherhood leaders and groups in Germany and Belgium.”

According to Farah:

“The raids were publicly announced in Germany, but have not been widely reported. The site also provides links to other reports, particularly by the NEFA Foundations on some of those under investigation. What is striking is the stature of the institutions that were raided on suspicion of money laundering, criminal activities, acquisition of property under false pretenses, and aiding ‘Islamists’ and violent Islamic jihadists.”
