From France to Poland, from the Czech Republic to China, nations are rebuffing President Obama and offering little wiggle room for him to negotiate economic and security policies.
Stephen Clark, FoxNews.com
Only nine months ago, when he addressed an estimated 200,000 people in Germany, Barack Obama was heralded as "president of the world."
But now that he's president of the United States, the world doesn't appear to be following up on its endorsement.
From France to Poland, from the Czech Republic to China, many nations are rebuffing the president and offering little wiggle room for him to negotiate economic and security policies.
Obama faces his first major international test next week when the world's largest economies meet at the G20 summit in London.
"I think as the president heads to Europe, he faces a huge public relations disaster," said Nile Gardiner, director of the conservative Heritage Foundation's Margaret Thatcher Center for Freedom.

"Man-caused Disasters" complicate "Overseas Contingency Operations"
AceOfSpades.mu.nu
Anyone who thought the new administration wasn't serious about fighting terrorism better just sit down and STFU! The new sheriff and his gang of euphemizers who won't discuss shooting straight have shown their mettle. They will put the fear of God Allah Teleprompter Jesus into those Islamist terrorists Disaster causing men overseas who keep blowing up, creating localized incidents of an explosive nature where innocents are slaughtered inconvenienced in a big way.
Do they really think they can change a few words and all of a sudden we are no longer at war with deranged devotees of Islam who are pretty sure what they are up to. They have no qualms about their Global Jihad to impose Sharia law and create a new Caliphate. Sorry for the straight talk there I wouldn't want to offend anyone or make them feel uncomfortable.
I wish this wasn't symptomatic of the mindset of our moral betters on the left, but I have lived among them enough to know that they really believe the bad guys are simply chafed that we call them what they are.

Paul Greenberg, JWR.com
This country no longer has any enemy combatants to worry about. There, don't you feel better?
Probably not, because you know that, although the new administration has decided to drop the legal designation Enemy Combatants, they're all too real. Only the name is gone.
It's not clear what Eric Holder, the new attorney general, is going to call the hundreds of hardcore cases still locked up at Guantanamo — terrorism suspects? Detainees? You there under arrest?
In the Department of Justice's latest, long-winded legal brief, enemy combatants are referred to as everything from "individuals captured in connection with armed conflicts and counterterrorism operations" to "members of enemy forces" — anything to avoid calling them what they are in well-established national and international law: enemy combatants.

Contingency! What’s It Good For? The Obama administration purges the language of war.
Andrew C. McCarthy, NRO.com
‘Our nation is at war against a far-reaching network of violence and hatred.” That was Pres. Barack Obama’s inaugural proclamation to the throng assembled on the National Mall, and to the additional millions huddled around televisions throughout the world. As it turns out, that’s not exactly his position.
Behind the scenes, the Pentagon has received orders from on high — which, in this administration, is the Office of Management and Budget — that war is out. The word “war,” that is. “This administration prefers to avoid using the term ‘Long War’ or ‘Global War on Terror,’” according to the guidelines, which were first reported in the Washington Post. Our warriors were curtly told, “Please use ‘Overseas Contingency Operation.’”
That this “overseas contingency” on which we are “operating” has left a rather large hole in the ground in lower Manhattan apparently is beside the point.

Obama's “Extreme Makeover” of America
Edward Cline, Rule of Reason.Blogspot.com
It is hard to decide any more which current government-spawned disasters and those to come one should dwell on. As on the popular TV program, ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,“ President Barack Obama is overseeing the demolition of the remnants of a republic that upheld individual rights and of the construction of a socialist “republic.“
The country is “needy,“ he claims, and must be housed in a new habitat, which is looking more and more like a minimum security prison, with all medical records managed by the government, movement monitored by the TSA, diet regulated by the warden, and one’s time spent on guarded work details (otherwise known as chain gangs).
For example, there is the move to draft all Americans into “voluntary” national service -- presumably a servitude with the encouragement of bribes if one submits or promised reprisals if one does not. In Congress, Senate and House Democrats and Republicans are shepherding through legislation which, taken altogether, is pretty much a civilian cradle-to-grave Selective Service System.

Obama Points Back to the GOP's Future: The president has made taxes and spending the big issues again.
Karl Rove, Online WSJ.com
Something powerful is stirring in the land, and it may not be good news for President Barack Obama, his agenda or the Democratic Party. Mr. Obama said Tuesday night his budget moves America "from an era of borrow and spend" to "save and invest." But people are realizing he would add $9.3 trillion to the national debt, doubling it in six years and nearly tripling it in 10 years, according to the Congressional Budget Office (CBO). How can that be "save and invest?" Tuesday night's news conference showed a fluid, self-assured president -- but one who seems to think that repeating a false argument will make it true. The man who promised to end "finger-pointing" has developed the habit of blaming everyone who came before him. Invoking the language of fiscal responsibility, he is engineering prosperity-killing deficits and bankrupting spending. Mr. Obama has put front and center a set of issues -- spending and taxation -- that brought Republicans to power in the past and may bring them back again. It looks as if we may be heading back to the future.

AIG Kulaks - The Stalinists in Washington.
John BatchelorShow.com
It is surprising, even creepy, that American citizens are being made into pariahs like the infamous and completely destroyed kulaks of the Stalinist state, and the media and the pols go along with it.
Management at American International Group Inc.'s financial products unit has asked employees to let the unit know by 5 p.m. on Monday if they plan to return all or part of the controversial bonuses they received under a retention program, according to a person familiar with the matter
What is the crime that leads to this extralegal fine and public abuse? Why must they face a deadline to give it up or get out of town? They work at AIG. They are American kulaks. This is how the Stalinist gangsters invented the kulaks in order to destroy resistance to tyranny in the countryside and force collectivization on defiant and starving people. Invent the kulaks, name the kulaks, brand and persecute and destroy the kulaks, and present yourself as the leader who protected the state from the people's enemies, the kulaks.

Obama's Just Not That Into You
Dick Morris, Vote.com
Does President Obama truly believe that he can castigate and condemn Wall Street on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and then secure its cooperation on the other days of the week?
Does he not understand that when he ignites a public furor over AIG bonuses and then incites Congress to pass a punitive tax, he sends shivers down the spines of every other corporate executive who makes a lot of money?
With Friends Like Pelosi . . .
Richard Cohen, Washington Post.com
It is still early, not even two-thirds of the way through the vaunted 100 days, and we are all admonished not to make judgments or dire predictions. Yet enough has been done so that, without fear that history will someday mock me, I can state that Nancy Pelosi is off to one hell of a start. The president, alas, is a different story.
The tale of two political figures was written one day last week when Pelosi went down into the well of the House and pitched the bill to heavily tax the bad people at AIG who received big bonuses. Using the tax code to exact punishment for political reasons is both bad policy and bad law -- why not put gun-shop owners and cigarette manufacturers in the 100 percent bracket? -- but it hurtled through Pelosi's branch of the government with nary a hearing and few discouraging words, and only the mildest suggestion from the president that the bill was really a dumb idea.
The pressure for the legislation was great. In just a day, Charlie Rangel, chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, went from opposing the idea to introducing the very bill he had earlier denounced. Rangel had all the stock phrases ready -- stuff about shattered dreams and greedy executives, which is all true enough -- but he was right when he first said that the tax code should not be used as a "political weapon." With such an about-face, it's a miracle he did not wind up in traction.

Obama's exit plan for Afghanistan is nothing but a pipe dream
Con Coughlin, Telegraph.co.uk
American President Barack Obama is going to have his work cut out coming up with a feasible exit strategy for Afghanistan. While his desire to set a strict timetable for America's continued involvement is understandable, actually achieving this aim is another matter entirely.
To start with Afghanistan is not Iraq where, after six difficult years, the Iraqi government is slowly shaping up to assume responsibility for governing the country. Iraq today finds itself in this enviable position mainly due to the success of the military surge masterminded by American General David Petraeus, which finally succeeded in dealing with the security challenges posed by the various Iraqi insurgent groups.
Gen. Petraeus is now giving serious consideration to undertaking a similar strategy in Afghanistan, but the Afghan security challenge is of an entirely different nature to that posed by Iraq.

Lib-Speak: A Left-icon for the Age of Obama
Don Feder.com
Notice how the left manipulates language to advance collectivism, social nihilism and internationalism (the end of American sovereignty).
In a war of ideas, words are weapons. The unwary often fall into the trap of unthinkingly accepting the terminology of the liberal/left, not understanding that happy euphemisms mask ugly agendas.
This lexicon is a map to guide you through the ideological land mines of Lib-Speak – George Orwell meets the CBS Evening News.

House Bill will ensure future Presidents are qualified
Greg Smith, Official Wire.com
No offense to the citizens of Kenya, or any other nation for that matter, but the current president of the United States—Barack Hussein Obama II—is spending a great deal of his campaign supporters’ money fending off what should be a really simple discovery: the vault version of his original birth certificate.
Rep. Bill Posey, R-Fla., has filed H.R. 1503, an amendment to the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971, which increased required campaign fund disclosure and was later amended to establish the Federal Elections Commission.
Posey's Bill would prevent future similar obstructions of justice and would "require the principal campaign committee of a candidate for election to the office of president to include with the committee's statement of organization a copy of the candidate's birth certificate, together with such other documentation as may be necessary to establish that the candidate meets the qualifications for eligibility to the Office of President under the Constitution."

Obama Wrecked The Economy, Now He's Working On National Security
Herb Denenberg, The Bulletin.us
My last column focused on the meltdown, unraveling and disintegration of President Barack Obama’s administration. But there was so much evidence of that in its handling of the economy, we didn’t have time to talk about another meltdown that is just as serious — how the administration is handling our national defense and national security. He’s bankrupted the economy and now he’s moving forward on plans that will destroy our national defense and national security.
During the campaign, Sen. Obama gave us every indication he would be weak on national defense, weak in fighting the war on terror and weak in defending our borders. As with the economy, he has proven to be worst than predicted. I think I can make my case with three examples that show weakness and wrongheadedness that is truly beyond belief. You be the judge:
