Five Sept. 11 Suspects to Face Trial in New York

The Obama administration has announced it will try 9-11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and other 9-11 Gitmo detainees in a civilian federal court in New York, allowing them the protections of the U.S. Constitution even though they are not U.S. citizens.

Do you agree with this?

First, Bring Killers Back From Cuba - Castro Shields His Murderers
Joe Connor, NY Post.com

President Obama's unilateral thawing of relations with Cuba including an easing of travel and monetary restrictions is a grave mistake that could result in another missed opportunity to bring enemies of America to justice and send a message to the world that this country never relents in its pursuit of terrorists.

As a precondition for any discussions with Cuba, Obama must demand the extradition to America of fugitives receiving safe haven in Cuba, including Armed Forces for National Liberation bomb maker William Morales, Wells Fargo armored-car robber Victor Manuel Gerena and the killer of a New Jersey state trooper, Joanne Chesimard. These violent fugitives have all been provided safe haven in Cuba since the 1980s. Read article.

The Wrenching Transformation of America – Part One
Tom DeWeese, FSM.org

Ladies and gentlemen, I’ve come a long way to get here and I have such a short time to be with you. So, let’s just get everything out on the table right now, shall we?

I believe the American people, and their every action, are being ruled, regulated, restricted, licensed, registered, directed, checked, inspected, measured, numbered, counted, rated, stamped, censured, authorized, admonished, refused, prevented, drilled, indoctrinated, monopolized, extorted, robbed, hoaxed, fined, harassed, disarmed, dishonored, fleeced, exploited, assessed, and taxed to the point of suffocation and desperation.

America is drowning in a sea of rules and regulations, particularly under the guise of “saving the environment.”

Obama Administration Wants Judge to Toss Embassy Hostage Suit from 30 years Ago!
Fox News.com

In court papers filed Tuesday, April 14 without any announcement, the Justice Department argued that the agreement to release the hostages, known as the Algiers Accords, precluded lawsuits against Iran.

The request comes in a $6.6 billion class-action lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Washington. Fifty-two American diplomats and military officials were held captive for more than a year at the end of Jimmy Carter's presidency by a group of Islamist students who supported the Iranian revolution.

The hostages were released on Jan. 20, 1981, just minutes after Ronald Reagan was sworn in as the new president. Read article.

Marine: "Obama has just cursed our security"
Atlas Shrugged 2000.com

This is a sad week in our country's history. Obama has just cursed our security.

This whole "torture" thing has far reaching implications that few have foreseen. Now that our definition of torture is "making somebody feel uncomfortable" we may as well shut down the military, because the way they operate is against our so called values. This really bothers me, this path we are taking is going to kill American soldiers, I have no doubt about it, for lack of proper training. If someone asked me if I have ever been tortured I would say no. But now under the new definition of torture apparently I and other military people were tortured during our training. This is absolutely ridiculous.

This is disgusting. Sadly, more soldiers are going to be wounded and killed in order to make up the difference and learn the lessons they should have learned in training. These will be troops that wouldn't have to die or be maimed. This reminds me of the movie, A Few Good Men. The part where Jack Nicholson is on the stand and he laments that all they did was to weaken a country. And that's all they did this time without thinking about the far reaching consequences of their political action. The people that did this will have blood on their hands. American blood. They weakened a country. Our country. Read article.

Obama Positioning For Backdoor Gun Control
Chuck Baldwin, NWV.com

On his recent trip to Central America, President Barack Obama did more than cozy up to Marxist dictators; he also signed onto an international treaty that could, in effect, be used as backdoor gun control. It appears that Obama wants to use international treaties to do what congressional
legislation is not able to do: further restrict the right of the American people to keep and bear arms.

Obama is using the oft-disproved contention that "90% of the guns recovered in Mexico come from the United States" as the stated basis of his support for the international treaty he is promoting. The treaty is formally known as the Inter-American Convention Against the Illicit Manufacturing of and
Trafficking in Firearms, Ammunition, Explosives and Other Related Materials (CIFTA) treaty. The Bill Clinton administration signed the treaty back in 1997, but the U.S. Senate has never ratified the treaty. Obama intends to change that. Read article.

Crazy Times - Crazier Times to Follow: A time when nonsense is passed off as wisdom.
Victor Davis Hanson, NRO.com

We are in a weird age.

Do the smart thing, we were told, and invest in a 401(k) retirement account. Buy into the American dream and own your own home. But lately it seems that those who put their money in low-earning passbook savings accounts or rented rather than buying may have been better off.

Indeed, almost all the old familiar benchmarks of modern American life seem to be going by the wayside.

The blue-chip corporations that were long the brand names of world manufacturing and finance — American International Group, Bank of America, Bear Stearns, Chrysler, Citigroup, General Motors, and Lehman Brothers — are either gone or teetering on insolvency.

Washington is more confusing. Bill Clinton balanced his last budgets but raised taxes. George Bush increased deficits but cut taxes. But now taxes, spending, and deficits soar all at once. We are lectured that prior reckless federal spending and borrowing got us into this mess — but now are told that even more federal spending and borrowing will get us out of it. Read article.

Obama's Foreign Policy: Bambi Versus the Sharks
Barry Rubin, Gloria-Center.org

It is not such a big deal to disagree with a president and his policies. But it is shocking to realize that the leader of the world’s most powerful country doesn’t appear to understand the most basic principles of international relations.

This isn’t surprising since Barack Obama has no—zero, nada—previous experience in this area. It shows. There are two distinct ways other countries respond to this combination of his ignorance at realpolitik, urgent desire to be liked, and pride in projecting U.S. weakness:

--Friends, especially in Europe, are pleased, applaud, but then add that they don’t have to give this guy anything because he is all apologies and no toughness. They like the fact that he is all carrots and not sticks. If, however, they are states more at risk—Israel, relatively moderate Arab states, perhaps Asian and Latin American allies--worry that they cannot rely on the United States to help and defend them.

--Enemies or potential rivals, a category including Iran, Syria, North Korea, Cuba, Russia, Venezuela, and many—mostly Islamist—revolutionary movements, say that this guy is weak and defeated. He apologizes, offers unconditional engagements, and promises concessions because all previous U.S. policies have failed. Obama says so himself. They’ll eat the carrots and, of possible, their neighbors as well. Read article.

Mr. Obama... How far would you go to save an American life?
Bobby Eberle, GOPUSA.com

In case you hadn't heard, America is no longer fighting a "war on terror." That's right... Obama and company have decided to drop the phrase along with the term "terrorist." Apparently, it's fine to use the word "pirate," but we can no longer send the "wrong" message by referring to terrorists as "terrorists."

Do Obama and his left-wing cohorts remember what happened on September 11, 2001? I certainly do. Given the fact that Obama felt it necessary to release previously classified memos regarding American interrogation techniques, it seems to me that he is more concerned with the rights of terrorists than the lives of the American people. Yes, that sounds like a harsh statement, but read on, and let's put the facts together. It all comes down to this fundamental question that any American could ponder, "How far would you go to save an American life?"

First a bit of a timeline to bring everyone up to speed. Read article.

Obama War on Poor
John Goodman, ACUF.org

What is the worst feature of the stimulus package and other legislation being considered by Congress? It is the systematic attempt to undermine 25 years of reform of social institutions — reforms designed to liberate the lowest-income families from welfare state programs that trap them and make them perpetual wards of the state.

Here are some specifics:

Ending the D.C. school voucher program. The city spends more and has worse outcomes than anywhere else in the nation. In taking on the teachers unions and turning things around, Michelle Rhee, chancellor of D.C. public schools, has gained national attention and even drawn praise from Barack Obama. Provisions buried in the stimulus package, however, will send 1,700 children who now attend private schools back to the failing schools from which they previously escaped.

Ending the Milwaukee school voucher program. It's the most successful school voucher program in the country and the teachers unions and many liberals can't stand it. The stimulus package showers money on Milwaukee for new school buildings — even though existing ones are sitting empty — but prohibits spending a dime of it to support private education. Ten Reasons The Intelligence Will Show Democrats Are Full Of –it.
Bruce Kesler, Maggie's Farm.com

Quicker than most expected, even those most critical of him, President Obama has unleashed his and his political party’s dénouement as grossly irresponsible and corrupt, to the unacceptable danger to the country’s survival.

His partial and skewed release of formerly secret documents about the interrogation of captured terrorists raises the prominence of the issue, and consequently of other major issues, in ways that very well may, and should, relegate the Democrat Party to the political hinterland for a generation.

·         The weight of informed and involved expertise on the interrogations is that they served to avoid additional terrorist attacks. The MSM’s trumpeting of the Obama partial releases makes it unavoidable for the MSM to provide the consumers of its media with the fuller story that will emerge.

·         Polls have consistently demonstrated the public is more in tune with better safe than sorry, and with little sympathy for applying Americans’ civil rights to foreign terrorists. The risks that Obama is taking with our security, and that of our allies, is not acceptable. Read article.

Letter To The President
760 KFMB AM San Diego.com

The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW
Washington, DC 20500

Mr. Obama:

I have had it with you and your administration, sir. Your conduct on your recent trip overseas has convinced me that you are not an adequate representative of the United States of America collectively or of me personally.

You are so obsessed with appeasing the Europeans and the Muslim world that you have abdicated the responsibilities of the President of the United States of America.

You are responsible to the citizens of the United States.

You are not responsible to the peoples of any other country on earth.

I personally resent that you go around the world apologizing for the United States telling Europeans that we are arrogant and do not care about their status in the world. Sir, what do you think the First World War and the Second World War were all about if not the consideration of the peoples of Europe? Are you brain dead? What do you think the Marshall Plan was all about? Do you not understand or know the history of the 20th century? Read article.
Immigration reform revives rivalries
Susan Carroll, Houston Chronicle.com

Hours after the White House recently announced it planned to push for immigration reform this year, talking heads on opposing sides of the illegal immigration debate were already bracing for battle.

Conservative commentator Pat Buchanan appeared on MSNBC this month and predicted “a bloodbath” if President Barack Obama pushes for a legalization program for the estimated 12 million illegal immigrants in the U.S. while the nation’s unemployment rate soars.

Immigrant advocates quickly issued statements supporting Obama’s decision to make good on a campaign promise to back comprehensive immigration reform, which was derailed in 2007.

“The momentum is building,” said Ali Noorani, executive director of the National Immigration Forum, a pro-immigrant advocacy group in Washington, D.C. Organizations on both sides of the issue are preparing for what is expected to be a protracted debate over how to overhaul the nation’s immigration system. The pro-immigrant side promises an “unprecedented national mobilization,” while opponents pledge a groundswell of opposition that would allow them to repeat the defeat of 2007.
