100 Days; 100 Mistakes: "Mr. Obama is an accomplished orator but is becoming known in America as the 'teleprompt president' over his reliance on the machine when he gives a speech." -- Sky News, 3/18 Read it all HERE.
The Lawless President: Riding roughshod over the law of the land seems to be the price Obama is willing to pay for "change."
Jennifer Rubin, PajamasMedia.com
Candidate Barack Obama promised “change,” but few suspected one of the biggest changes would be an unparalleled attack on the rule of law orchestrated from the Oval Office. It is, to say the least, an ironic turn of events for a president who fancies himself a constitutional scholar and who rode into office excoriating George W. Bush for “shredding” the rule of law.
We saw this on full display last week as Obama disingenuously promised a “quick” bankruptcy of Chrysler and vilified the car company’s creditors as “speculators.” As a Financial Times columnist explained:
For once, the law is unambiguous: senior secured creditors should be paid before junior unsecured creditors and employees (the words “senior” and “junior” are a bit of a give-away on this point). By turning legal wisdom on its head — and vilifying investors that opposed the move — the administration is signaling the principle is no longer sacred.

A Dying Constitution: Its restraining provisions have been interpreted to mean less and less.
Thomas Sowell, NRO.com
While Pres. Barack Obama has, in one sense, tipped his hand by saying that he wants judges with “empathy” for certain groups, he has in a more fundamental sense concealed the real goal — getting judges who will ratify an ever-expanding scope of federal-government power and an ever-declining restraint by the Constitution of the United States.
This is consistent with everything else that Obama has done in office and is consistent with his decades-long track record of alliances with people who reject the fundamentals of American society.
Judicial expansion of federal power is not really new, even if the audacity with which that goal is being pursued may be unique. For more than a century, believers in bigger government have also been believers in having judges “interpret” the restraints of the Constitution out of existence.

Memo to Napolitano: Maybe You Should Stake Out the White House
Don Feder, GrassTopsUSA.com
In 1993, a terrorist cell detonated a 1,500-lb car bomb below New York’s World Trade Center (six dead, more than 1,000 wounded) The perps were:
1. Operation Rescue activists
2. The NRA’s Board of Directors
3. Members of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps
4. Muslim fanatics lusting for infidel blood and dedicated to jihad.
In 2001, two hijacked planes were flown into the Twin Towers, an attack in which 3,000 Americans died. The killers were:
1. A black-ops unit of Phyllis Schlafly’s Eagle Forum
2. Constitutionalists committed to preserving federalism
3. Members of the Boy Scouts of America
4. Muslim fanatics lusting for infidel blood and dedicated to jihad
In 2002, the “Beltway sniper” and his confederate killed 10 people in the Washington, D.C.-area. The deadly duo were:
1. On their way to a VFW convention
2. Rehearsing with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir
3. Sidewalk counselors at abortion clinics
4. Muslim fanatics lusting for infidel blood and dedicated to jihad

I’m Gonna Keep An Eye On You
Tom Barrett, Conservative Truth.org
“I’m gonna keep an eye on you.” That’s the message we should all be sending to Obama. He needs to know that he’s only fooling the ones who want to be fooled – his adoring groupies. We need to let him know that Honest Abe was right – you can’t fool all of the people.
Since he has taken office, every move he has made, every word he has spoken, has advanced his extreme liberal agenda. He is so slick that many Americans actually believe that he is acting in their interest. In reality, he just listens very carefully to what the people say, and then makes it appear that he is responding. He spins his actions in his charismatic way, and depends on the fact that most people will believe what he says about what he does, rather than observing what he actually does.
Take this $1.5 Billion for the swine flu. You’ve got to be kidding me! Even if there were the disastrous pandemic he describes, it wouldn’t cost a tenth of that much money to fight it. But the fact is that there is no pandemic; there have been at least a dozen flu outbreaks in my lifetime that have been ten times worse than this.
Every year 36,000 Americans die from regular old flu. There has been exactly one death in the US from the swine flu. So our swine flu death rate is remarkably low for a country with 300 million citizens (and 20 million illegal aliens). By the way, the person who died here was a child from Mexico who had the flu before entering the country.
I’m no epidemiologist, but the figures seem pretty clear. Close to a thousand people worldwide have been confirmed as having swine flu. One country has well over half of those confirmed cases – Mexico. Although the media has reported much higher numbers, only twenty-six people have died from this flu – all but one of them in Mexico. Of all the cases outside of Mexico, almost all have been traced – to Mexico.
Out of 200 nations in the world, only 20 have reported cases.

The first 100 days: Obama is no moderate
Editorial, Union Leader.com
You don't need to be a Washington political analyst to correctly assess President Obama's first 100 days in office. The President's actions reveal as plainly as the lights on the Eiffel Tower reveal its shape against the night sky that he intends to turn America into a European-style welfare state as rapidly as he possibly can.
With the excuse of a deep recession and the help of a Democratic Congress, the President has begun remaking this country in Europe's image.
Obama has tossed conservatives and their concerns aside. From allowing federal funding of abortions and embryo-destroying stem cell research, to shutting down the highly successful Washington, D.C., voucher program, to not resisting a judge's order to allow minors to buy the "morning after" pill without a prescription, the administration has told conservatives that their beliefs don't matter.
On foreign policy, the President has shown that he thinks the reason America has enemies is because this country has mistreated other nations in the past, not because other nations have leaders who find it in their best interests to undermine our interests.
In his first 100 days, President Obama has initiated the most left-wing agenda of any President in American history. And he's only getting started.

The Big Pork Pandemic, 'Teabag Wavers,' Amendments and the NDP...
Mark Alexander, Patriot Post.us
If you have tired of seeing Barack Hussein Obama's mug everywhere during his first months in office, there is good reason. According to a study released by the Center for Media and Public Affairs, Obama received more TV coverage in the first 50 days of his regime than George Bush and Bill Clinton -- combined. According to the Media Research Center's Noel Sheppard, "The three broadcast network evening news shows have basically devoted on average about half of their entire newscasts to Obama."
Somehow I am not surprised.
We may have survived the first hundred days of Obamamania (if only because our children and grandchildren will get the bill), but beware, Obama and his statist ilk have their sights set upon much bigger policy feats on the fast track to Socialism.

"Empathetic" Justices Threaten Our Freedom
Carol Platt Liebau, Townhall.com
Preparing to fill the Supreme Court seat soon to be vacated by David Souter, President Obama has announced that he wants a judge with “empathy.” According to the President, his nominee must understand “justice” to be “about how our laws affect the daily realities of people's lives -- whether they can make a living and care for their families, whether they feel safe in their homes and welcome in their own nation."
As a former constitutional law professor, surely the President understands that possessing “empathy” in the abstract is an absolutely meaningless criterion for a judge. When a President emphasizes the importance of “empathy,” the more proper question becomes not whether a particular judge has empathy, but rather, for whom? After all, empathizing with a woman who wants a late-term abortion necessitates a certain lack of empathy for her unborn baby. Empathy for accused criminals can feel like something very different to their victims.
In fact, by invoking a comfortably undefined “empathy” as the indispensable quality in a justice, President Obama is deftly deploying warm, fuzzy rhetoric to signal that he intends to select a justice with a very specific left-wing policy agenda.

"Empathy" Versus Law: Part III
Thomas Sowell, Patriot Post.us
There is a reason why the statue of Justice wears a blindfold. There are things that courts are not supposed to see or recognize when making their decisions-- the race you belong to, whether you are rich or poor, and other personal things that could bias decisions by judges and juries.
It is an ideal that a society strives for, even if particular judges or juries fall short of that ideal. Now, however, President Barack Obama has repudiated that ideal itself by saying that he wants to appoint judges with "empathy" for particular groups.
This was not an isolated slip of the tongue. Barack Obama said the same thing during last year's election campaign. Moreover, it is completely consistent with his behavior and associations over a period of years-- and inconsistent with fundamental principles of American government and society.
Nor is this President Obama's only attempt to remake American society. Barack Obama's vision of America is one in which a President of the United States can fire the head of General Motors, tell banks how to bank, control the medical system and take charge of all sorts of other activities for which neither he nor other politicians have any expertise or experience.

Sizing Up Barack Obama: Who is He, What is He Up To?
Maggie, StopTheACLU.com
How many times have you commented that Barack Obama voters knew nothing about him when they cast their vote at the polls? I’ve said it often. How well do you verbally size him up? Who is he? What is he up to? Can you put it into words, or explain it to your nephew or your daughter?
I admit that I still find it difficult to put into words who I think Barack Obama is, or what I believe his motives to be, but another blogger has found those words and put them together ingeniously. The entire article wastes not a word. Here are some snippets from The Return of Scipio.
His life has been fully marinated in the world view of those who hate capitalism, call the US the source of much of the world’s evil, believe the Jews to be the main problem of the Middle East, see themselves as most qualified to govern “the people”, equate opposition with heresy and despise traditional religions and values. They are absolute and total creatures of government and could not survive outside of it. Indeed, this is the reason why all of their proposals involve government. The greater the size of government, the more power they have. The fact that liberty is reduced for the citizenry is irrelevant, since the ruing classes will always have the freedom to do what they wish.
Obama and his sorts exist in some bounteous ether where taxes, small cars, high gas prices, reduced incomes and the toil of daily life affect only those who do the actual work of the nation. They award themselves beautiful homes, large and fancy automobiles, excellent food and citizen subsidized foreign travel. Indeed, their entire lives are subsidized by the taxes they impose upon the masses. And with the increase of government—which really is an increase of job prospects of the ruling classes and their families—the numbers of these types will increase, as will the taxes imposed to maintain such sumptuous lifestyles of these rich, famous and powerful.

Obama and economic fascism
Jerry Doyle, Prairie Pundit.com
... economic fascism has a precise, defined meaning. And Barack Obama’s economic policy fulfills that meaning in every conceivable way.
Economic fascism can be defined as government control over the four P’s: Product, Price, Profit Margin, and People. When the government controls the product created by the market, when it controls the price structure for product and company securities, when it controls how much profit particular companies can make, and when it controls the people who are hired and fired, economic freedom has been banished, and economic fascism reigns supreme.
And economic fascism reigns supreme in Barack Obama’s America. Just look at the recent government handling of Chrysler. In a series of press conferences this week announcing Chrysler’s bankruptcy, Obama hit on all of the four P’s.

How Churchill Dealt With Thugs
Arthur Herman, NY Post.com
President Obama's forays into history, especially European history, are interesting but not always accurate. Who can forget his description during the presidential campaign of African-American GIs liberating Auschwitz? (It was the Russians.) Or his admission during his recent European trip that he didn't know how to translate a certain word into Austrian? (There is no "Austrian"; Austrians speak German.)
His evocation of Winston Churchill in his press conference on April 29 took confusion to a new height. The president cited the great British prime minister in support of his ban on enhanced interrogation techniques at Gitmo and elsewhere, noting that Churchill never allowed torture of German detainees in World War II "even when London was being bombed to smithereens."
Strange words of praise from the president -- who in February ordered that Churchill's bust be removed from the Oval Office.

The Four Pillars of Obamaism
Joseph Shattan, Spectator.org
Although it is still too early to speak of an "Obama Doctrine," four trends, already apparent, will define the Obama administration's approach to foreign affairs in the years ahead. They are: Cosmopolitanism, Soft Power, Appeasement and Global Meliorism.
In his final book, Who Are We?, the late Samuel Huntington defined the "Cosmopolitan" approach to foreign affairs as one in which "the activities of Americans would more and more be governed not by the federal and state governments, but by rules set by international authorities, such as the United Nations, the World Trade Organization, customary international law and global treaties and regimes."
In his March message to the people and leaders of Iran, President Obama offered "the promise of a new beginning" and declared that "the United States wants the Islamic Republic of Iran to take its rightful place in the community of nations," -- a striking departure from the Bush Administration, which wanted the Islamic Republic of Iran overthrown. Look to these four approaches -- the essence of an emerging Obama Doctrine -- to win our President a Nobel Peace Prize, even as the world itself descends into chaos and war.
