Five Sept. 11 Suspects to Face Trial in New York

The Obama administration has announced it will try 9-11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and other 9-11 Gitmo detainees in a civilian federal court in New York, allowing them the protections of the U.S. Constitution even though they are not U.S. citizens.

Do you agree with this?

McChrystal Clear
IBD Editorials.com

From Gettysburg to Fallujah, no-nonsense leadership has proved the key to victory in war. President Obama has chosen a new top U.S. commander in Afghanistan. This is Obama's war. This is his general.

During the campaign, candidate Barack Obama said Afghanistan was the right place to fight what is now called an overseas contingency operation. At first glance, with his choice of Lt. Gen. Stanley McChrystal to take over as the top U.S. commander there, he may have picked the right man to fight it.

McChrystal is a special ops guru, a former head of the Joint Special Operations Command, a master of the tactics that proved victorious in Iraq under the surge of Gen. David Petraeus. Now Petraeus is McChrystal's boss in Afghanistan, and the future looks brighter for victory there as well. Read article.

The Epistle of Obama to the Physicians
The Editors, NRO.com

A pattern already is emerging in these early days of the Obama administration: The president and his apostles spend weeks building up expectations for a bold initiative to address a problem formerly thought intractable — and then their bombshell innovation turns out to be a dud.

Example: Last week, the administration released its detailed request for the 2010 budget. In the weeks leading up to the release, the president had talked bravely of ordering a line-by-line review of every single agency’s budget to cut out all the waste and unnecessary spending. The result: reductions totaling $11.5 billion — and most of that in defense. That number is not even a rounding error on the banking bailout, and these minuscule cuts come at a time when the federal budget deficit is projected to top $1.8 trillion in 2009, with annual deficits expected to surpass $500 billion all the way to the financial horizon.

This week, the issue is health care. And, here, the expectations could not be higher — that is where the president set them. Read article.

Is Barack Obama a “Red Diaper Baby”?
Blue Ridge Forum.com

Red diaper babies lack the usual sense of what is normal, reassuring, and what should be preserved. Their focus is on what they consider alarming, despicable, and should be eradicated—targeting many of the same things, however, that most Americans revere. Their political center of gravity is far to the left.

No matter the rhetoric they adopt to dress up their aspirations, their values are not our values and their goals are not our goals.

To question Obama’s many leftist associations is more than a “birds-of-a-feather-flock-together” assertion of guilt by association. It is guilt by participation.

And the beat goes on with the mainstream media’s cover-up the long-term political relationship between Barack Obama and William Ayres, as well as pressure to silence critics of Obama more generally.

NRO’s Stanley Kurtz this summer was first given permission, then abruptly denied access here to the 132 boxes of Chicago Annenberg Challenge papers housed at the University of Illinois. Kurtz was smeared on the leftist blogs for even trying. In the Huffington Post, John K. Wilson described the scrupulously careful reporter as “right-wing hatchet man Stanley Kurtz [seeking] a forum to air his baseless, fear-mongering terrorist smears.” Read article.

Suckers United for Change
Kyle-Anne Shiver. American Thinker.com

Now that we're more than 100 days into the Obama presidency, the handwriting is on the wall regarding our new leader's game plan for America. Spend other people's money like a Madoff on steroids. Let every enemy on the planet know there's a wimp in the White House. Let every ally know the wimp in the White House will do nothing to help them when push comes to shove.

Let the 50 states know there's a power coup in play that strips them of constitutionally guaranteed liberties. Let every company know that neither they nor their non-union employees are safe from Chicago-Way thugs and their mouthpieces in the media. Let the 300 million American citizens know that the rule of law, applied equally to all, is about to be replaced by special favoritism in the form of "empathy."

All in all, one would need to be a numbskull not to see banana republic written all over the current administration and its intent.

If asked for a word to describe an Obama voter, there is only one that any sentient person could offer: SUCKER. Read article.

The Era of the Overlord: Obama's Gangland Style
Atlasthrugs2000.typepad.com

Obama thinks he's still in Kenya and this is his little fiefdom. His third world bullying and Idi Amin-esque tactics echo the same second rate gangland style politics of his homeland countries of Kenya and Indonesia (where he grew up).

Last month, Obamafia threatened CEOs. He actually said, "my administration is the only thing between you and the pitchforks.” That's not a president, that's a tyrant. This is an egregious abuse of power. And though exposed, the autocrat's unchallenged attacks on America proceed unabated.
Robert Tracinski of TIA daily elaborates:

"The breadth of Obama's assault on capitalism is breathtaking: from seeking to regulate fine details like credit card fees, to exerting control over major banks, restructuring the auto industry from the Oval Office, seeking to nationalize the entire health care industry, and proposing a national cap on fossil fuel consumption and a thinly disguised system of energy rationing.

"But that kind of sweeping control over the economy is not compatible with a system of government designed to protect individual liberty. America's traditional legal system is all about laws and rights and contracts—a fine web of protections for the rights of the individual—and that tends to get in the way of vast schemes for government disposal of our lives and wealth.

"So President Obama has decided to throw out that existing legal system and knock down the protections for individual rights.

"Our first major warning of this is the deal being forced on Chrysler's "secured creditors." These are institutions that loaned money to Chrysler when it was in trouble; they were willing to take the risk because they were relying on a legal principle which gives them first claim on the company's assets in case of bankruptcy. Thus, in the worst case scenario, they expected to reclaim as much as 80 cents on each dollar of their investment, limiting their losses.

"But the Obama administration wants them to accept only 29 cents on the dollar, in the name of "sharing the sacrifice." The beneficiary of this sacrifice is the United Auto Workers, a Democratic pressure group which is being shoved to the front of the line and favored above the secured creditors." Read article.

US Government Police State Shaping Up Nicely
Sher Zieve, American Daily.com

While most of the US population - at least those who voted for him - continue their somnambulant activities, Supreme Leader Obama has been methodically and without much-if-any reportage from his mainstream media been setting up his personal police state. While existence continues to become more and more tenuous with each passing day for We-the-People, Obama and his minions (AKA the Political Power Elite Class) are living the best days of their lives. And they are paying for their excesses with what were formerly OUR monies and OUR wealth.

Note: Although Obama’s apparently-bought-and-paid-for alphabet networks and print media refuse to report on them, his increasingly immoderate parties have taken on a rather legendary status on Washington D.C. And now, Obama is also demanding a HUGE tax increase be implemented against the American people. By the way, this tax increase is NOT relegated to the wealthy. The wealthy - soon to be as poor as Obama decides they should be - among us cannot solely pay for Obama’s $2 TRILLION+ healthcare system or his now over $1.2 TRILLION national debt. Observation: This is another way to fleece the public and put more money and power into the wallets and purses of the Obama-corrupt. Republicans and the 'Public Option' - A case in which compromise means government health care.
Review & Outlook, Online WSJ.com

So Democrats have declared their willingness to use a parliamentary tactic to force a far-reaching restructuring of U.S. health care through Congress on a partisan vote. Imagine if Tom DeLay had tried to do that on, say, Social Security. Would Democrats have rolled over?

On the one hand, President Obama and his party say they're hoping to strike a good-faith compromise on health care. On the other, they're threatening this "budget reconciliation" maneuver to coerce Republicans into rubber-stamping liberal policy. And if the GOP won't oblige, Democrats say they'll add a new multitrillion-dollar liability to the federal fisc anyway, using a process that was designed to cut spending and reduce the deficit. Obama's first 100 days from a black's perspective
Lloyd Marcus, RenewAmerica.us

Remember the Soup Nazi on the Seinfeld sitcom? If you annoyed the chef, he would yell, "No soup for you!" When I hear the mindless reasoning of Obama supporters, I want to scream, "NO VOTE FOR YOU!"

All of our spending as a nation - up until this point in time - is dwarfed by Obama's spending in only 100 days. And yet, he promises fiscal responsibility. Our great grand kids will be paying his debt. Various areas of private sector freedoms are being infringed upon as Obama boldly goes where government has never trespassed before. My goodness, he fired the CEO of a private company, GM, and nobody cares. Such government overreaching should scare the 'bee-gee-bas' out of you.

And yet, I realize those embittered with 'class envy' love Obama's power grab and redistribution plans. Read article.

Judging the Judges
Ken Connor, Townhall.com

The minute Justice David Souter announced his imminent retirement from the Supreme Court, the media began to engage in rampant speculation about who President Obama would nominate and what criteria would guide his decision. Unfortunately, most of the speculation centered on wrong-headed criteria like race, gender, political leaning, and vague notions of empathetic experience.

Questions abound. How will the President "diversify" the bench? Will he nominate a member of a racial minority? Will he nominate a woman? Will he nominate someone from a unique religious background? Senator Arlen Specter told NBC that he hopes the President will "choose someone with diversity." "Women are underrepresented on the court," he declared. "We don't have an Hispanic. African-Americans are underrepresented." There is intense pressure on the President to satisfy this "diversity quota," regardless of whether a candidate is the most qualified for the post.

A new element has also been introduced into the discussion of President Obama's upcoming nomination: empathy. Mr. Obama stated that he plans to nominate a candidate who possesses "empathy and understanding" and "who understands that justice isn't about some abstract legal theory or footnote in a case book. It is also about how our laws affect the daily realities of people's lives." This rather vague quote is elucidated by President Obama's previous speech to a Planned Parenthood conference in 2007. Sending us back to 1875 - Reducing our carbon footprint
Joe L. Barton, Washington Times.com

The war against global warming evidently starts at home, where President Obama says the price of electricity will "necessarily skyrocket" when the government caps carbon dioxide and issues emissions permits that utilities can buy and sell to one another.
The president and his allies have decided that man-made carbon dioxide is a witch's brew that's killing the planet, and they think that just because the cap-and-trade cure stings doesn't mean we shouldn't have to swallow it.

Their solution is embodied in the momentarily stuck Henry A. Waxman-Edward J. Markey global warming legislation, the goal of which is to banish one of the world's most ubiquitous elements from our lives. Its proponents call it "back to the future." They're not kidding, either.

Nobody understands exactly what the legislation means in dollars and cents - more on this later - but to experience how it would feel to lower your personal carbon footprint to the size this bill proposes, set the flux capacitor to 1875. That's the last time Americans' carbon emissions matched the goals set by the Waxman-Markey legislation. Read article.

Obama Doesn’t Want The Commonfolk Around During D-Day Anniversary
Flopping Aces.net

Obama will be visiting the beaches of Normandy for the 65th anniversary, which is good. Problem is he wants none of the common folk to be able to visit on that day:

…as of now Obama’s State Department has asked (read demanded) the French government not allow tour guide services to operate that day. It is a big day for Normandy tourism. Yet, the king will not allow those not connected with government to enjoy the day. Obama is very important you know. This is an unprecedented request. I hope the French come to their senses and deny it.

Compare that with 2004. Security was tight as President Bush and other world leaders were in attendance, but the event was still open to all. A friend relayed the story of waiting in line to use a port-a-potty. She looks to her left and who he is in the next line waiting patiently? President Bush. Sure he had Secret Service nearby, but he waited like everyone else. Contrast that with Team Obama not even allowing regular people near Colleville-Sur-Mer that day. A shame indeed.
