CBS Gushes Over Egyptian ‘Excitement’ For Obama Speech
Kyle Drennen, NewsBusters.org
On Wednesday’s CBS Early Show, correspondent Lara Logan described President Obama’s upcoming speech in Egypt’s capital as if it were a campaign stop: "...everywhere you go in this city it's what everybody is talking about...The one word that keeps coming up over and over is excitement. There is definitely a lot of anticipation about this visit...very excited that he chose Cairo."
Logan was responding to co-host Harry Smith asking about the speech during a segment outlining Obama’s trip to the region: "Is there a way to measure the anticipation there for this speech?" Logan did acknowledge some opposition: "And I mean, although there are the detractors, there are extremists, they are small in number. Most of the people that we've encountered, everyone we've spoken to, says that people have great expectations." Logan fretted those "great expectations" would be Obama’s biggest challenge: "...the only concern is that there may be too much expectation riding on the shoulders of one man, because hopes here are extremely high."

Obama’s Cynical Trip to Buchenwald
David Podwin, Canada Free Press.com
Barack Obama dispenses with things that aren’t broken while cherishing things that don’t work. Israel - like capitalism - works. Therefore, it must go.
To the extent that Palestinian society is a society (as opposed to being a dysfunctional conglomeration of hatred and self-destruction) it is a broken society. Therefore, it must be cherished.
Obama’s upcoming trip to Buchenwald lays bare the convolution with which he governs. This farcical event is quintessential Obama, feigning remorse about the last Holocaust while facilitating the next one. As always, the words and the music don’t match.
He travels to honor six-million dead Jews as he insures that six-million living Jews will soon be dead – surely one of history’s most brazen and transparent acts of depravity.
Obama’s refusal to confront the nuclear threat imperiling Israel is cold hard reality, whereas his grandstanding at Buchenwald will merely be the theater of the absurd. This is a unique moment in history, a public figure somehow managing to transcend all previous public acts of cynicism. It is the equivalent of O.J. Simpson sobbing at Nicole Brown’s graveside. Obama intends to use the most recent pogrom as a fig leaf, while he methodically lays the foundation for the next pogrom. Meanwhile, the media admire the Emperor’s new clothes.

The Real Genuflection To The Saudis
Morris & McGann, Vote.com
When President Obama first met the Saudi royals, he seemed to bow at the waist. Either that or he doubled over in pain. Did he bow? Or didn't he bow? That was the topic du jour at the press briefing that day.
But now we have the answer: Obama is, indeed, really bowing to the Saudis as he visits the Middle East this week.
First, he is bypassing Israel. Visiting the Middle East and not going to Israel would be like touring North America and omitting a stop in the United States. It only makes sense if you interpret it as a deliberate slap in the f ace of Jerusalem and a statement to the Arab world that America's pro-Israeli policy is changing.
But as he goes to Saudi Arabia, the United States State Department, headed by Mrs. Hillary Clinton, has announced that it has accepted the ground rules for media coverage of the Obama visit to the royal family and its domain. Reporters will only be allowed to cover the actual meetings between the Saudis and Obama and will not be permitted to visit the rest of the country or report on anything else they see during the trip. Those reporters who violate these terms are subject to arrest and imprisonment by the Saudi government!!!
Why Obama is losing The Third Jihad
Kevin McCullough, Townhall.com
As I pen these words not more than sixty miles north of where I sit, a radical Islamist breeding ground is churning out hate, weapons training, and radical Wahabi indoctrination. To date President Barack Obama's administration has done zero about it.
In fact as you spend today doing whatever pleases you, it is imperative for you to understand that that there are thirty additional compounds to this one that are spread throughout the nation in blue states like New York and red states like Virginia. And in each place the residents have been observed or overheard testing explosives, firing weapons, and engaged in the same type of activities as what those who have abandoned Islamberg have confessed to.
Cutting to the chase let it be plainly said, there are thirty-one bases of operation in which strongly questionable use of weapons and militant jihad are being taught and trained, here on U.S. soil. They are actively supplying clerics to serve in the prison chaplain systems across several states, and in many instances those who do are also actively recruiting new members for the future Islamic State of North America. Their stated goal on one of the chaplain's websites is for that state to be in existence by 2050.

Obama Has Paralyzed the CIA
Ronald Kessler, NewsMax.com
In September 1995, John Deutch, the director of Central Intelligence, bowed to congressional pressure and fired two CIA officials because they had recruited Guatemalan military assets who had been involved in political assassinations.
Inside the agency’s amphitheater, known as the “Bubble,” Deutch then told CIA employees that despite the firings, they should continue to take risks in the service of their country. That brought snickers from many of the clandestine officers in the audience.
Deutch laid down the law that recruitment of assets or spies with so-called human rights violations would require high-level approval. Yet who else would know about terrorists and our enemies except those who were themselves involved in treachery?
The message was clear: Stay away from informants who are not politically correct.
Deutch’s effort to recruit Boy Scouts as spies was chilling.
Just as Deutch did, Obama spoke to CIA employees after releasing the memos. As if talking to a kindergarten class, Obama said, “Don’t be discouraged that we have to acknowledge potentially we’ve made some mistakes. That’s how we learn.”
At the same time, he claimed he fully supports CIA officers.
CIA officers feel betrayed by Obama and Congress. Even though they were briefed on the techniques — and some asked why the CIA was not doing even more — members of Congress like Nancy Pelosi are claiming they had no clue about the information they in fact received.

Hillary's Kiss is Still a Kiss
Jack Engelhard, Israel National News.com
Back several years ago, when Hillary Clinton kissed Suha Arafat, well, some of us thought of it as just a "fem thing". You know, sisters of the world unite and all that. You must remember this - right after Suha (falsely) accused Israel of poisoning Arab children, Hillary offered Suha a big fat smooch of consolation. (Google and Wikipedia have the photo.)
Was it just a fling, or is it True Love?
Must be true love, because Hillary, traveling now as Secretary of State in pantsuits, makes it clearer every day that she will not rest until, peace by peace, all of Israel is declared a Jew-free zone. Only a few days ago, Hillary insisted that "settlement expansions [must] cease. This is our position. We intend to press that point."
That's right, it's time to get tough on the Jews and persuade them that as Gaza goes, so must all of Israel go - to the dogs of Hamas. Call it, if you will, Gangster Politics.
(Hillary before the election: "Let me be clear. I know Senator Obama will be a good friend of Israel.")
Yesterday it wasn't "the settlements." No, it was the "apartheid." Before that it was "the occupation." Get the trick? It always has to be something to "Get Israel." Sometimes it works. The minute he arrived home from the White House, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu began the "peace process" of dismantling some two dozen outposts. That is still not good enough, of course.

Justice Dept. lapse on Black Panthers not the only problem
The US Report.com
The US Justice Dept.’s refusal to do anything about a couple of men who flashed nightsticks and allegedly intimidated voters at a Philadelphia poll during the November Presidential Election is just one example of misguided policies. Those policies didn’t start with President Barack Obama, and it is doubtful they will end with him because the Democratic Party loves identity politics like a donkey loves grass.
The Washington Times filed an exclusive story revealing political appointees overruled career lawyers, insisting they drop a case that by all rights should have been prosecuted. The Times said career lawyers even had an affidavit from a “1960s civil rights activist who witnessed the confrontation and described it as ‘the most blatant form of voter intimidation’ that he had seen, even during the voting rights crisis in Mississippi a half-century ago.” But this isn’t the only misguided policy at the department.

Republicans and Battered Spouses
Jeanne Donovan, American Thinker.com
The Republican Party looks battered. Ask any member of the liberal media, and they will tell you that the bruises are showing.
Maybe they are right. Republican office holders are the battered spouses of American politics. It is time for an intervention.
If we are to understand the root cause of the difficulties now faced by the Republican Party, our current Republican leaders should each look in the mirror and ask themselves the following questions:
· Do you feel nervous when you're around a liberal?
· Are you scared of disagreeing with liberals?
· Do you remain silent in front of a liberal because you want them to like you?
· Do you try to please a liberal, only to be rebuked for your efforts?
· Do liberals criticize you, or humiliate you in front of other people?
· Do you have to control your behavior or your language to avoid their anger and ridicule?
· Do you feel pressured by them to participate in activities you find offensive?
If you answered "yes" to most or all of these questions, you are have become the victim in an abusive relationship. You, as a Republican, have been beaten up so much and for so long that you aren't even aware of the gradual changes that have taken place in your psyche. Instead, you keep trying to please your abusers.

The Affirmative-Action Aristocracy?
Victor Davis Hanson, NRO.com
The Sotomayor nomination — since the media focused on her ethnic profile rather than her solid credentials — has had the unintended effect of reminding the nation how strange the politics of racial identity have become, especially in a society where social status and material well-being are not necessarily predicated on being "white" (cf. per capita incomes of many Asian minorities), and the notion itself of "race" is now problematic with so many Americans of 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16 racial heritage. Are we really to believe that Geraldo Rivera's high profile on Fox News lends "pride" to those who are of 1/2 Puerto Rican background, or does he resonate as Gerald Friedman with the Jewish community for his half-Jewish ancestry? Or is he just Geraldo, whose background is inmaterial?
One wonders whether affirmative action and diversity preferences are any more predicated on past collective suffering? If so, why has the UC university system in the past tried to find insidious ways of limiting Asian "overrepresentation" (given ample bias against Chinese and Japanese), or why is a Barack Obama, of half-African ancestry, a beneficiary of efforts to offer recompense to those of the African-American experience?

Why Obama's Court Pick is Already a Winner
Joe Conason, Rasmussen Reports.com
Choosing Sonia Sotomayor as his first nominee to the United States Supreme Court will allow Barack Obama to prove three important things. As a politician, he is not afraid of a fight. As a constitutional lawyer, he is willing and able to defend his conception of that living document. And as president, he is prepared to brush aside the phony consensus of Washington's gossipy elite.
When battle commences over the nomination of Sotomayor, a judge currently serving on New York's Second Circuit federal appeals court and a woman with working-class Puerto Rican roots in the Bronx, the president should welcome it, because he cannot lose politically. If he wins, as he almost certainly will, then he will have earned the gratitude of Hispanic voters across the country for putting their "first" on the nation's highest bench. If somehow he loses to a Republican filibuster, then those same voters will surely inflict their wrath on his adversaries.
Having chosen an affirmative-action candidate to chair the Republican National Committee (and another, years ago, to occupy a seat on the Supreme Court), GOP leaders could probably find a way to permit Sotomayor to ascend without mounting bitter, racially divisive opposition.

Sotomayor's Court Record: Lame or Controversial?
Jillian Bandes, Townhall.com
In initial reviews of Sotomayor’s court record, a trend emerges: many of her questionable court decisions have been made per curiam, or, as part of an unsigned decision made by a group of judges, while the decisions she signs her name to are relatively unremarkable.
It’s not a unique trend, and only a moderately useful lens through which to view her judicial record. It’s usually difficult to tell why a decision is authored per curiam, because one court may use the method frequently to write its decisions, while another never uses it. Furthermore, the decision to issue a ruling in this manner may be made by any judge who is working with her – so Sotomayor is not necessarily responsible.
Still, as part of per curiam decisions, Sotomayor supported a bizarre notion of eminent domain in which a politically connected developer extorted a land owner in New York after the land owner refused to give him a stake in the property. The day after the refusal, the land was condemned by the city.
She also held that the Second Amendment is inapplicable to states.

Mr. President, show us the money
Don Surber, Daily Mail.com
President Obama has declared that the way to fix the American economy is to have the government take over the health care industry via the health insurance industry.
Roughly 85 percent of Americans either have private insurance or are covered by a government program.
The government will do health care cheaper and better, the president said.
OK, show us the money.
Let our president show the American people that the federal government can save money by saving money in the Medicare and Medicaid programs. The first covers mainly the indigent, while the latter covers everyone 65 or older.
States share the costs of Medicaid with the federal government.
All Obama has to do is freeze the budgets for those two items for two years.
To date, these programs have been the opposite of thrifty.

Journalists who don't kiss Obama's feet
James Lewis, American Thinker.com
The London newsies of Fleet Street have no respect -- for very much at all, including the Queen, PM Gordon Brown or -- shock! -- not even for His Utterliness Barack Hussein Obama, He Who Must Not Be Laughed At. This lèse majesté will no doubt upset the ranks of the American media, which has transformed the fine art of butt-kissing into a veritable mob frenzy at any appearance of the One.
The White House press corps is now completely supine, utterly shameless in its groveling cowardice. Stalin himself couldn't have wished for a more slobbering press corps. Rather than mailing them nice little Lipton tea bags, millions of sane Americans might consider sending air sickness bags to our Reigning Media.
But not, thank heaven, across the broad Atlantic. There free speech and even laughter are still alive, among the well-lubricated scribblers of Fleet Street. The journos of Britain show little respect for American Presidents regardless of race, creed or color. They laugh hysterically at all of them. Not that it takes much imagination.
The Telegraph has done the awesome, and called Michelle's wardrobe "frumpy."
Gerald Warner pitches in by announcing "Barack Obama: all the bad guys are giving President Pantywaist the finger" which says it all, really. And "Barack Obama and the CIA: why does President Pantywaist hate America so badly?"
