He has a number of names. He has a number of life stories. He has a number of autobiographies. He has had a number of fathers. He attended a number of schools. He lived in a number of countries. He has a number of half siblings. He claims a number of religious traditions.

 

He has vowed to protect the nation he leads, yet he is actively engaged in its disarmament. He is very comfortable appearing among nations who routinely engage in hostility toward the US. He ends his speeches with “God bless America.” but spent 20 years listening to a pastor who regularly said, “God damn America!” He claims love for the nation yet every one of his associates is a long-time America hater. He promised to uphold the Constitution yet every one of his policies ignores it. He says he is a Christian yet refers to the Koran as “holy.”

 

Is there anything about this fellow that is real? Is there anything about this fellow that is normal? Does anyone you know act like Obama?

In the short period of time that Barack Obama has occupied the public spotlight we have learned a number of important things about him. And although we have yet to learn if he is an American citizen, an Indonesian citizen, or if he holds dual US-British citizenship, we have learned one very important thing about his anatomy: if his lips are moving...chances are he’s lying.

 

Never in the history of the United States have we ever witnessed a political regime so blatantly corrupt and dishonest. Throughout the campaign he quickly gained fame for saying whatever his audience of the moment wished to hear. Those who opposed his candidacy understood what he was doing, and we understood that his radical left handlers were not only writing the words that he read so skillfully from his teleprompter, they were playing the most cynical sort of racial politics in order to advance his candidacy.

 

And when it became clear that his campaign was being financed illegally by foreign contributors, with donations brought into the country and reported to the FEC in the name of U.S. citizens, often without their knowledge or complicity; and when it was learned that millions of $10 and $20 money orders were being distributed among American Muslims, with the understanding that the money would be donated to Obama, the crime was so massive that there were not enough lawyers in the FEC, the FBI, and the Justice Department combined to investigate or prosecute it.

 

Since being sworn into office, Obama has broken, one-by-one, nearly every campaign promise he made regarding the conduct of the War on Terror... or Overseas Contingency Operations, as his Homeland Security nutcases prefer to call it. While having condemned George W. Bush and Dick Cheney for their efforts to protect Americans, even to the point of equating them to Adolph Hitler, Obama has now adopted all but a few of the Bush-Cheney policies.

 

He has announced his intention to try GITMO detainees in military tribunals; he has expanded the NSA’s warrantless wiretap program, extending it to communications between American citizens... with the promise that information obtained about American citizens will not be made public (wink, wink); and he has reserved unto himself the right to order the “torture” of enemy combatants in the event of a future need to do so. Further, it can be predicted with a high degree of certainty that, within the coming weeks and months, Obama will also reverse himself on his promise to close the GITMO facility.

 

However, in an attempt to either do damage to the United States or to former president Bush and his administration, Obama has undeniably given aid and comfort to our enemies by declassifying and publishing internal CIA/Justice Department memoranda detailing the methods of enhanced interrogation used by the CIA to gain information from jihadists.

 

What is remarkable is that he does it all apparently without experiencing a twinge of conscience... a feat that can be accomplished only by a man totally devoid of conscience.

 

In responding to a questioner in a recent public forum, a question relating to the process of receiving assistance with a mortgage foreclosure problem, Obama directed the questioner to the administration’s official website: MakingHomeAffordable.gov.

 

The website contains the official seals of both the U.S. Treasury Department and the Department of Housing and Urban Development, indicating that it is an official administration website. However, some who have used the site to seek assistance with an imminent foreclosure problem have found that, after responding to the preliminary screening questions contained on the website, they’ve received a telephone call from a private law firm asking for more details.

 

After providing the required information, one troubled homeowner told of receiving a return call from the law firm saying that they felt they could be of assistance... for a fee. After providing the attorney with an initial $1,000 retainer, agreeing to pay the remainder of the fee when refinancing was finalized, the homeowner sat back to await developments. However, the next call from the law firm was to advise him that, upon further reflection, the lawyers would not be able to help him. And when the homeowner requested the return of his $1,000 retainer, that request was denied.

 

It appears that someone in the Obama Administration is selling names and telephone numbers of individuals with foreclosure problems who respond to the HUD/Treasury Department website. Read article.

Despite his boldness, Barack Obama seems as fated to fail as were Woodrow Wilson and Jimmy Carter. And for the same reason: a belief in his own righteousness and moral superiority, and a belief that his ideals and his persona count mightily in the modern world.

 

Wilson declaimed about America's fight to "make the world safe for democracy" when in harness with the British, French, Russian, Japanese and Italian empires, all slavering to feast on the carcasses of the Hohenzollern, Habsburg and Ottoman empires.

 

By 1920, Wilson was a tragic failure, mocked by ex-allies and reviled by former enemies for having dishonored his own 14 Points.

 

Jimmy Carter declared in 1977 that "we have gotten over our inordinate fear of communism that caused us to embrace any dictator who shared in that fear." So, we undermined Nicaragua's Anastasio Somoza and the Shah, and got the Sandinistas and the Ayatollah Khomeini.

 

As for Barack, he behaves on the world stage like some Ivy League kid ashamed of the people he came from, letting one and all on campus know that he is nothing like his benighted family with its sordid history. Read article.

Like every piece of legislation and every presidential decree in the current inaccurately self-described "transparent" administration, Democrats want to push through the nomination of Obama Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor before anyone charged with vetting her has had a chance to so much as read up on her extensive record as a federal judge. Ur-traitor Patrick Leahy made that clear in pushing for Senate hearings to take place before the August recess.

 

Never mind that Sotomayor's record of having had her decisions reversed on appeal more than 60 percent of the time bespeaks at best a sloppy and uninformed approach to the law. And never mind that she's an admitted racist whose racial and gender bias - which led her to deny 20 New Haven firefighters their rightfully earned promotions based on the color of their skin - seems to be her primary qualification for a Supreme Court judgeship in this most racist of administrations.

 

As worthy as reasons for disqualification as those are, there's one that is even more troubling, and that is that Sotomayor seems to have emerged directly out of one of the leftist "bibles" of the 1930s. I'm speaking of the book Toward Soviet America by communist labor leader William Z. Foster. In that book, which was initially suppressed by the left because it revealed in too much detail their plans for taking over this country, Foster puts forth a vision of the American judiciary whose implementation Sonia Sotomayor seems ideally suited to advance. Tony Fratto is envious.

 

Mr. Fratto was a colleague of mine in the Bush administration, and as a senior member of the White House communications shop, he knows just how difficult it can be to deal with a press corps skeptical about presidential economic claims. It now appears, however, that Mr. Fratto's problem was that he simply lacked the magic words -- jobs "saved or created."

 

"Saved or created" has become the signature phrase for Barack Obama as he describes what his stimulus is doing for American jobs. His latest invocation came yesterday, when the president declared that the stimulus had already saved or created at least 150,000 American jobs -- and announced he was ramping up some of the stimulus spending so he could "save or create" an additional 600,000 jobs this summer. These numbers come in the context of an earlier Obama promise that his recovery plan will "save or create three to four million jobs over the next two years."

 

Mr. Fratto sees a double standard at play. "We would never have used a formula like 'save or create,'" he tells me. "To begin with, the number is pure fiction -- the administration has no way to measure how many jobs are actually being 'saved.' And if we had tried to use something this flimsy, the press would never have let us get away with it."

 

Of course, the inability to measure Mr. Obama's jobs formula is part of its attraction. Never mind that no one -- not the Labor Department, not the Treasury, not the Bureau of Labor Statistics -- actually measures "jobs saved." As the New York Times delicately reports, Mr. Obama's jobs claims are "based on macroeconomic estimates, not an actual counting of jobs." Nice work if you can get away with it. Read article.

We've been waiting and waiting, but the widely predicted European backlash—against capitalism, free markets, and the right—has never come. There are no demands for Marxist revolution, no calls for nationalization of industry, not even a European campaign for what the Obama administration calls "stimulus"—a policy more colloquially known as "massive government spending."

 

On the contrary, in last weekend's European parliamentary elections, capitalism triumphed, at least in its mushy European form. Admittedly, these European polls are a peculiar species of election. Far fewer people vote in them than vote in national elections, and those who do vote are far vaguer about what their Euro deputies actually do once they are elected to the European legislature.

 

The European parliament's gradual accumulation of real power seems to have had no effect whatsoever on its popular image, which is still that of a do-nothing institution composed of clapped-out politicians who cost everybody a fortune in airplane tickets. As a result, fringe parties, including the so-called far right, always attract protest voters and do unusually well. Read article.

The moment I first heard my co-blogger Melissa Clouthier use the phrase "Party of Yes," I knew a column would eventually come out of it because that phrase so perfectly describes today's Democratic Party. No matter how bad the idea, the Democrats are willing to say, "yes, yes, yes" and throw a few billion dollars at it. That has already led to a series of disasters in the early days of the Obama Administration.

 

The Democrats have said "yes" to taking over the auto industry: Welcome to "Government Motors," where Barack Obama is the Super-CEO and the union now owns 51% of Chrysler. By the time it's over, the price tag for this debacle looks likely to reach into the hundreds of billions despite the fact that both companies will still go through bankruptcy, which is what critics of the bailout suggested as an alternative to government intervention last year. We have the government hiring and firing corporate execs, getting involved in the cars they're making, politicizing dealer closings -- and Barney Frank apparently even has veto power over which plants are shut down. In other words, if you thought GM and Chrysler had problems before, just wait until Barack Obama, Barney Frank, Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid get through tinkering with companies. My advice? Buy Ford. Relief from the high-handed Obama administration may be coming from a surprising direction.

 

It won’t be Iraq, Iran, Saudi Arabia or even Mexico that will steal Obama’s thunder but the Land of the Maple Leaf.

 

Indeed, in the Story of the New America now being written by the Obama administration, Canada will play the key role.

 

There’s been an impenetrable malaise suspended over America since January 20, 2009. American patriots, doing their best to keep the US apologist president in the spotlight of the news media, are largely ignored by the MSM.

 

But a trade war simmering in Canada seems ready to slam the brakes on the runaway train known as Obama and Company. Read article.

When 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammad was captured on March 1, 2003, he was not cooperative. “I’ll talk to you guys after I get to New York and see my lawyer,” he said, according to former CIA Director George Tenet.

 

Of course, KSM did not get a lawyer until months later, after his interrogation was completed, and Tenet says that the information the CIA obtained from him disrupted plots and saved lives. “I believe none of these successes would have happened if we had had to treat KSM like a white-collar criminal – read him his Miranda rights and get him a lawyer who surely would have insisted that his client simply shut up,” Tenet wrote in his memoirs.

 

If Tenet is right, it’s a good thing KSM was captured before Barack Obama became president. For, the Obama Justice Department has quietly ordered FBI agents to read Miranda rights to high value detainees captured and held at U.S. detention facilities in Afghanistan, according a senior Republican on the House Intelligence Committee. “The administration has decided to change the focus to law enforcement.

 

Here’s the problem. You have foreign fighters who are targeting US troops today – foreign fighters who go to another country to kill Americans. We capture them…and they’re reading them their rights – Mirandizing these foreign fighters,” says Representative Mike Rogers, who recently met with military, intelligence and law enforcement officials on a fact-finding trip to Afghanistan. Rogers, a former FBI special agent and U.S. Army officer, says the Obama administration has not briefed Congress on the new policy. Read article.

If the Obamas thought taking their popular, photogenic girls on vacation to Paris and London would inoculate them from criticism, they may have miscalculated. Hard on the heels of their infamous date night to New York, the overseas trip may prove a turning point in public opinion about the first couple.

 

On CNBC this morning, Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa was taking umbrage at Obama's exhortation over the weekend for lawmakers to get cracking on health care reform. Grassley, the ranking Republican on the Senate Finance Committee, took to tweeting rather irritably on Twitter about the matter.

 

"We''re on schedule, and he knew that," Grassley told Larry Kudlow. "And while he was sightseeing in Paris, my staff, Senator Baucus' staff were meeting each day of the weekend to work out compromises. And you know, they consult us from time to time, so we're all engaged, and he knew that. And I thought it was a cheap shot on his part."

 

Yes -- Grassley is a Republican. But members of Congress tend to be zealous, enthusiastic jet-setters. When they start criticizing the president for jet-setting, there's definitely a problem.

 

There wasn't much of an issue about the Obamas' date night two weeks ago -- but subsequent refusal by the White House to come clean about the cost of the trip rankled the White House press corps, among others, who raised the issue of Obama's promises for transparency and accountability. Michelle Obama, more popular than the president, took a risk when she jetted off on Friday for a European vacation with Sasha and Malia to Paris and London. The first family is much beloved -- but millions of Americans are out of work and many more are cutting back this year on family vacations. Read article.
