The Obama administration has announced it will try 9-11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and other 9-11 Gitmo detainees in a civilian federal court in New York, allowing them the protections of the U.S. Constitution even though they are not U.S. citizens.

Do you agree with this?

Exclusive: Paine and Beck – One Building a Nation, One Trying to Save Her

In 1776, Thomas Paine challenged the authority of the British Government in his pamphlet, “Common Sense.” In his work, Paine spoke directly to the American people, in plain language, the words that would spark a revolution – the birth of our great nation.

Fast-forward to 2009. The free, capitalist nation that our founding fathers dreamed of has made a hard left jolt to toward socialism – careening into an Saul Alinsky abyss filled with government takeovers of car manufacturers and banks, with taxpayer funded programs that do nothing more than increase dependency upon the government. It is much easier for government to control its people when those very people are dependent upon the government for their very existence.

Glenn Beck, host of the enormously popular nationally syndicated radio and Fox News Channel programs that bear his name, has brought Common Sense to the 21st century. There is a stirring among the American people that our country has lost her direction. Through “emergencies” – both real and fabricated – the government is “playing on our fears and desire for security and economic stability at the expense of our freedoms (Glenn Beck’s Common Sense pg 9)”

Beck bluntly reminds us that it was through blood and sacrifice that our precious gift of self-rule and freedom was bestowed upon us by a generation long forgotten. It is a gift taken too lightly by those who are willing to sell their very soul for “free” government housing, welfare dependency and cradle to the grave care (i.e. education, health care, jobs). He reminds us that the very Congress that doled out over $12 billion in government bailouts to over 500 banks, in 1992 bounced more than 8,331 checks at their own personal House Bank, forcing its demise. These are the very House members who, after promising to “fix” the problem in their own bank, prompting bounced an additional 4,325 checks (Common Sense – page 18).

Common Sense exposes the catastrophic dangers of “progressivism” on our society, describing it as a “cancer” that is engulfing the entire country. Using such touchy-feely terms as “fairness” and “equality,” the government has embraced the idea that your money and your property are only yours until the State determines it has a better use for it. Beck takes us back to prohibition, when the first ripples of the Nanny State began to appear on our society as government “experts” decided Americans were drinking too much. The reader is reminded that the Progressive takeover of America isn’t new, as he quotes Woodrow Wilson in 1912, “We must demand that the individual shall be willing to lose the sense of personal achievement and shall be content to realize his activity only in connection to the activity of the many.” Words that are eerily reminiscent of Obama’s statement of “spreading the wealth around” – not Obama’s wealth, but that of the individual taxpayer.

Beck doesn’t just approach the problems facing America as we watch government expansion into our lives, right down to what kind of light bulb we should use in our homes, an expansion that has been taking place since the early 1900s. He challenges us to make the changes necessary for our very survival as a free Republic. From the deliberate indoctrination of our children in government schools in the areas of climate change and championing big government to career politicians with absolutely no experience working and living in the real world, Beck’s Common Sense is a necessary read as we, the American people, begin to take the steps to rescue our free, capitalist society from the darkness of a government that is consuming our very lives.

As we begin our preparations for the upcoming Tea Parties on July 4th, as well as various 9.12 Project events, take time to read Glenn Beck’s Common Sense. Read it to your family and share it with your friends.  Consider buying an extra copy and donating it to your local public library and your area public school library.

The book also outlines the 9 principles and 12 values of the 9.12 Project (www.the912project.com). As an added bonus, Beck has included the original “Common Sense” by Thomas Paine. Invaluable words from two men – one who was building a nation and one trying to save her.
