Exclusive: Is Socialized Healthcare The Cure for What Ails America?

by THE EDITORS July 23, 2009
Unless you live under a rock (and we know FSM readers do not!), you’ll know that the great debate on socialized government healthcare (a.k.a. “single payer” or “nationalized” healthcare) is raging once again. (Remember Hillarycare?) Citizens all over this great nation are speaking up to tell President Obama and Congress to “butt out” of their medical care.

The recent stimulus package to the tune of nearly $1 trillion dollars has failed to stimulate the economy as promised – official unemployment numbers are inching close to 10 percent, with numbers exceeding that in several states. Unbelievably, Vice President Joe Biden is telling us we have to spend even more money to get out of the hole. Only to those mired in the fantasyland of Washington D.C. could something like this even begin to make sense. Yet it was a crisis. If we didn’t act immediately, things would get worse. Well we did act immediately and things got worse anyway.

Now, we’re being told that if we don’t act immediately on healthcare, the crisis will turn critical. So critical that the plan on the table would cost somewhere around $1.6 trillion over 10 years and would only cover one third of the uninsured people we’ve heard so much about – even those who choose not to have insurance. Will Congress have to be a part of the public plan? Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY) dodged a direct question about that. Obviously, then, the plan must be a terrific one.

We’re always hearing about the great socialized healthcare of nations like Canada and the UK. But is it really so rosy? Click here for a look at the joys of the Canadian system, and click here for some insight as to what socialized medicine looks like in the UK.

If you want the kind of service you receive at the DMV and other government-run services, where the elderly and others with unusual health problems will get shortchanged, you’ll love socialized medicine. If not, you may want to know about the alternatives being offered. For example, Republican Sen. Jim DeMint has offered an alternative called “The Health Freedom Plan.” Click here for details.

Nothing this important should be rushed into just to “get things done.”

Are you concerned about the effects of socialized healthcare? Tell your elected officials what you think.

Occupy Chicago freakout: The LRAD is coming, the LRAD is coming!

May 21, 2012  00:57 AM

Here is an LRAD. It’s a Long Range Acoustic Device better known as a sound cannon and it’s used to disperse unruly crowds. Here is an Occupy Chicago freakout over the LRAD (led by the same livestreamer who freaked out last night over a brief police stop): Two #LRAD s spotted heading to march.— Tim [...]

Michael Moore spreads hysterical, anti-police fable from his Occupy comrades

May 21, 2012  00:37 AM

The crockumentary film-maker should have read Twitchy first. As we told you Saturday night, the trio of Occupy Chicago livestreamers who freaked out over a brief, Chicago police pullover didn’t have their apartment raided, didn’t have any of their equipment damaged, were not “held at gunpoint,” and had none of their high-priced cameras, phones, and [...]

May 20, 2012  11:09 PM

Mother Nature is Chicago law enforcement’s best friend. Tonight, the rabble-rousers’ plans for anarchy got spoiled by rain. Twitter had fun as the Occupiers and their fearless livestream crews ran for cover, while a few of the mobsters hung around to harass officers on duty and break out in senseless chants: Fkin Streamers afraid of [...]

That's right, the same people he wanted to push our of DC hospitals ended up treating his potentially life threatening blood clot.
