Selling Socialism to the Masses
Dr. Alan Bates
In the presence of union leaders to whom Obama partially owes his election, BHO says “Big Brother” will take care of workers, implying a false assumption and a false solution. The false assumption is that union workers carry inadequate or no healthcare. The false solution is that only government is capable of providing healthcare to workers. Government officials have never been able to deliver anything fiscally sound to the people who elect them. Take a look at these facts:
FACT 1: Obama and Congress have committed the United States to a current debt
burden of $11,000,000,000,000 (trillion), the interest on which per annum is
$26, 000,000,000 (billion). That interest on our debt will approach $810
billion by 2019, due to compounding.
FACT 2: Social Security has $13.6 TRILLION of unfunded obligations to future
retirees. The so-called Trust Fund consists of IOUs, since Congress has
squandered the contributions by workers on other pork barrel items. Shame
on Congress! Shame on Americans who have been fooled not once, but twice!
FACT 3: Medicare Parts A and B have unfunded liablities of $68 TRILLION, and
Congress in it wisdom voted to fund Part D for prescription drugs which adds
another unfunded obligation of 17.2 TRILLION dollars.
How does our government plan to make good its obligation to pay back to Americans some $99,200,000,000,000 which we paid into the Social Security and Medicare programs? It CAN’T! The current programs are the world’s largest Ponzi schemes ever, as the pyramid becomes increasingly top-heavy with retiring baby boomers supported by a smaller number of working younger generations. While government will increase eligibility age for benefits, raise taxes to pay for them, and ultimately declare increasing numbers of Americans as ineligible, the final outcome will be NO benefits as the scheme runs out. What happens then??
The current programs operate on current cash inflows and IOUs. So where did our paid-in money go? PORK, bailouts and funding of ridiculous programs such as “cap and trade” to address the hoax of manmade global warming (which no other large nation is willing to endorse). \Obama in his speech for health care reform before the AFL-CIO in Ohio perpetrates another hoax that the healthcare system is falling apart and only Big Brother can solve the problem by taking control. Leave it to socialists or worse to declare disasters so they can intervene and take over – in this case, our personal lives.
If Congress has no discipline in managing the national debt and spending, why do we keep reelecting these same members over and over despite record low levels of public approval of Congress? Because most are bought by special interests which combined with gerrymandering (drawing voting districts so that the vote is rigged to favor a certain party or candidate) virtually guarantees their re-election. Gerrymandering is about to get a huge boost by the Obama White House taking control of the upcoming census unless the legislative or judicial branches of our government prevent it. We must NOT let that happen or we will never be able to elect fiscally conservative legislators to replace those who have feathered their own nests with your money while ignoring the principles of economics.
Many in our Congress, even the tax-cheats, live and spend to get re-elected – NOT to do an honest job for the electorate or preserve the intentions of our founding documents. Worse, they have served themselves well a host of lifelong benefits which protect them from having to endure the pain which will come to the rest of us as entitlement programs they created and perpetuated begin to fail. They pretend they will find a way to deal with the national debt and the $100 trillion of unfunded obligations by trying to focus the public’s attention on other issues of lesser or no importance (such as global warming) or appealing through empathy to their constituents that the Congress will find solutions. The sad truth is THEY are the problem and, as such, offer no solutions.
History and basic economics show the rest of the world will ultimately deal with America just as it has with other bankrupt nations. Our escalating debt will be called at some point by impatient creditors and America will not be able to pay them. Americans have been complacent, if not apathetic, while their government has enslaved future generations to our creditor nations. I cannot imagine a more heinous crime perpetrated upon our future generations. Those in government who purport to serve the people figure to be dead and gone by the time the day of reckoning comes for our children. If the electorate does not demand immediate change to sound fiscal principles, the alternative outcome will be eventual loss of liberty as government steals the pay of our children and their property in order to pay off the massive debt incurred at the hands of reckless government. The Constitution will be ignored for “the good of the state.”
