Anita Obamaoist's Quaint Take on a Mass Murderer
Editorial, FSM.org

Can you imagine if a member of a presidential administration publicly praised the work ethic of Adolf Hitler or the “back to the earth” philosophy of Pol Pot? The outrage from the mainstream media would be swifter than their outrage over Rush Limbaugh’s attempt to become a minority owner of an NFL team, and the news would likely reverberate for at least two weeks, even after that official was hounded from office.

Yet last week a video of White House Communications Director Anita Dunn, giving a speech to high school students, surfaced on Glenn Beck’s Fox News television show. In the video, Dunn tells the students who her two “favorite political philosophers” are: Mother Theresa and Mao Tse-tung of China.

Dunn said these are “the two people I turn to most to basically deliver a simple point, which is you’re going to make choices. You’re going to challenge. You’re going to say why not. You’re going to figure out how to do things that have never been done before.”

Well, that certainly can be said of Chairman Mao. As the architect of that China’s “cultural revolution” – read: Communist takeover – he was responsible for the deaths of millions of Chinese. How many? Estimates run as high as 77 million, all dead as either a result of outright violence or Chairman Mao’s policies that led to China’s great famine from 1958 to 1961. Read article.

Look in the mirror, Mr. President
Editorial, Washington Examiner.com

Before Obama goes much further bashing the health insurance industry, let's review what Obama said during the 2008 presidential campaign. He made two promises that attracted crucial support from independents. He promised "a net federal spending cut" and to "cut taxes for 95 percent of American workers." But from his first day in the Oval Office, Obama has been on a spending binge of such unprecedented magnitude that the federal deficit this year is more than $1.4 trillion, or nearly three times what it was under George Bush in 2008. If Obama's health care reform plan becomes law, the deficit will be even bigger.

As for cutting taxes, that is a topic Obama assiduously avoids these days because he is too busy pushing massive new federal programs that will indirectly add thousands of dollars to the costs of living for virtually every American family, through more expensive health insurance premiums, skyrocketing gasoline and utility bills, and higher prices for food and other consumer goods.

In view of these facts, it is impossible to avoid the conclusion that Obama's campaign promises were just so much ... smoke and mirrors. Read article.

Voting Present Is Not an Option
Victor Davis Hanson, NRO.com

While our Narcissus-in-Chief is frozen gazing at his perfect image in his private pool, choices have to be made in Afghanistan. Consider the following:

(a) We have a Democratically controlled Congress that by and large has supported, since 2004, the Kerry-Obama-Hillary Clinton narrative of a "good" war in Afghanistan, supposedly shamefully neglected by George Bush's neo-con adventure in Iraq, but absolutely vital to the security of the United States, and one entirely winnable — if only we allot sufficient resources.

(b) We have a proven command in Generals McChrystal and Petraeus and their circle of subordinates, who crafted a winning counterinsurgency strategy in Iraq that defeated the terrorists, ensured stability for the fragile constitutional government, and took a tremendous toll on the human and material resources of al-Qaeda, as well as the reputation of radical Islam among the Middle East street.

(c) We have thousands of battle-hardened, experienced veteran soldiers and their officers, who know far more about the Middle East in general, and counter-insurgency in particular, than was true than when we first deployed to either to Afghanistan in 2001, or Iraq in March 2003.

Given that George Bush made a far more difficult choice that saved Iraq, it is hard to figure out why Obama can not make a simple decision to send troops requested by commanders on the ground. Read article.

Obama’s “Status Quo” has become the Status Quo
JR Dieckmann, GAJ.com

In his weekly radio address this week, the Obama child again accused health insurance companies of "dishonest and misleading advertising" because they disagree with his policies on healthcare and presented a study to dispute them. Obama angrily and emphatically insisted “We have only just begun” (to cram socialized healthcare down American throats).

In fact it is Obama who has engaged in “dishonest and misleading advertising” from the beginning of his administration. Most everything he has told the American people has been a lie or based on a false pretense.

Did you know that profits from those “greedy” health insurance companies, paid to the stockholders, amount to only about 3.2%? This is considerably lower (about half to one third) than the average of other industries. The rest of the money goes to pay their enormous costs - reasonable solutions to which Obama and congress refuse to consider.

In Obama's view, any profit from our capitalist system is evil and must be stamped out by the government and replaced with a socialist system. Obama has consistently lied about his intentions and motives, and tried to hide his true agenda which is not supportive of the American way of life or the country as a whole. He has traveled the globe smearing our country and apologizing for its behavior and heritage. Read article.

'Someone Else's Mess' - President Obama didn't ask to be born!
James Taranto, Online WSJ.com

A reader passes along this video of President Obama speaking at a Democratic fund-raiser in San Francisco last week. Here's our transcription:

Now, to the non-Democrats who may be watching today, I want everybody to know we believe in a strong and loyal opposition. I believe in a two-party system, where ideas are tested and assumptions are challenged, because that's how we move this country forward.

But what I reject is when some folks decide to sit on the sidelines and root for failure on health care, or on energy, or on our economy. What I reject is when some folks say we should go back to the past policies when it was those very same policies that got us into this mess in the first place.

Another way of putting it is, when--you know, I'm busy, Nancy's busy with our mops cleaning up somebody else's mess. We don't want somebody sitting back saying, "You're not holding the mop the right way." Why don't you grab a mop? Why don't you help clean up? "You're not mopping fast enough. That's a socialist mop." Grab a mop. Let's get to work.
Busy Nancy, we presume, is Speaker Pelosi. This is fairly effective partisan rhetoric. The "socialist mop" line is actually witty, and wit has not been this president's strong suit. But there's one phrase that irks us: "somebody else's mess."

This has been a recurring theme in President Obama's rhetoric. As we noted last week, he frequently refers to the "mess" that he "inherited." But the presidency is not an inheritance, it is a responsibility that Obama sought. To the extent that the country is a "mess," it is not "somebody else's mess"; it is all of our mess. If Obama's policies make matters worse rather than better, it won't be his mess either; all of us will have to live with the consequences. Read article.

Uh Oh: Obama’s new pastor says, “Islam is violent”
InfidelsAreCool.com

Mr Obama has been an irregular church attender since becoming President, but has expressed a fondness for Carey Cash, the navy chaplain at the Camp David presidential retreat who has been criticised for proselytising in the military and his mistrust of Islam.

The White House insists that the Rev Cash, the great-nephew of the singer Johnny Cash, has not become Mr Obama’s new pastor, but it appears that the President has heard more sermons by him than any other minister since taking office.

The emergence of Mr Cash, 39, who was profiled on the front page of The Washington Post yesterday, will pose some tough questions for the White House — and for President Obama, whose father was Muslim.

In a 2004 book describing his deployment to Iraq the year before, Mr Cash calls Islam violent, a faith that “from its very birth has used the edge of the sword as a means to convert or conquer those with different religious convictions." Read article.

The West's Choice of Strategy: Defending Itself From Terror Attacks or Combating A Radical Strategic Threat?
Barry Rubin, Gloria-Center.org

The Terror-Only Strategy

In this approach, the problem is defined as direct terror attacks on Western territory and facilities elsewhere like embassies. The enemy is those groups which directly target the West, meaning al-Qaida and its allies plus various independent local self-made terrorists (who are influenced, of course, by Jihadist propaganda).

Since these groups have no major state sponsor, this is a narrow counterterrorism strategy which does not require confrontation or conflict with any other country. It can be handled largely as a police and criminal matter. Success is measured by an ability to keep such attacks to an absolute minimum.

Moreover, it permits the luxury of ignoring attacks on or in other countries—including Israel especially—as not being a matter of much concern. [Even the United States has increasingly taken this stance. After the massive terror attack on Mumbai, India, Pakistan's policy of sponsoring anti-Indian terrorism has been for all practical purposes ignored. U.S. aid to Pakistan climbs steeply with no conditionality about stopping attacks despite the fact that Pakistan has done nothing to punish the terrorists involved, much less the Pakistani intelligence officers who direct them. The Administration has conducted engagement of Syria with no serious reference to Syria's sponsorship of terrorism against Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, or Israel. When Iraq protested Syrian involvement in a bloody recent attack the U.S. government declared its neutrality.

Thus, a whole category of terrorist revolutionary groups and their state sponsors can be ignored. If you don’t bother them, it is hoped, they won’t bother you. While there is a sharp debate over the domestic aspect of the strategy--some countries like Britain and France are ready to work with "moderate" Islamists, others aren't—it has clearly won out on the international front and has been adopted by the Obama Administration. [Naive?] Read article.

It’s Time to Connect Obama’s Dots
Curt Smith, Political Mavens.com

Barack Obama campaigned as George Washington, calming and unifying. Elected, he governs like George McGovern. Tens of millions of Americans feel deceived. They should, since they were.

Obama’s revised 10-year deficit now tops $9 trillion. A $410 billion bailout, $787 billion stimulus, and $1 trillion health care mock his pledge of moderation. As bad, having vowed a post-racial Presidency, he often resembles the head of La Raza or the NAACP.

Last year, hoping to “move beyond race,” many resisted connecting Obama’s dots. Few resist now, the last straw a man of whom White House aide Valerie Jarrett fawned “We have watched his career for years.” Self-avowed Communist and now-ex-”Green Czar” Van Jones hailed slavery reparations, felt 9/11 a U.S. plot, and believed “white polluters … poison” black America — still does. Obama said not a peep, even when Jones called Republicans “a__holes.” Ibid, the national media, which would have howled had he trashed gypsies, tramps, or thieves, not white America, the GOP, and each 9/11 corpse. Only Fox TV’s Glenn Beck even noted Jones’ racism, sparking last month’s resignation. Instead of a color-blind Presidency, Obama let race demonize and divide.
