Article Submission Guidelines

The Editors

• FSM welcomes article submissions from laymen and experts alike. The main requirement is an ability to write well and a commitment to the sovereignty and security of America and American families. Please click here to see our mission statement.
• Articles should have a direct, albeit broad, connection to security and sovereignty matters. Articles can range from education (our rights and liberties cannot be protected if the next generation doesn't know about our nation’s founding and history) to celebrities damaging the U.S. brand overseas, to definitive security issues (homeland defense, foreign policy, citizen preparedness, etc.). We do not publish articles that focus solely on social or cultural issues (abortion, marriage, religion, violence in entertainment, etc.) unless a particular issue can be directly related to national security or sovereignty. Please take a look at the variety of articles on our site to guide you.
• As a non-profit site, our articles can not advocate for a particular candidate or a particular piece of legislation. Although we can educate our readers about how our government is viewing items related to national security and sovereignty, we cannot tell readers to vote a certain way, nor to support any particular legislation. Our aim is to educate readers about national security issues, let them draw their own conclusions based on their personal beliefs, and encourage them to contact their representatives with their thoughts, whatever they may be.
• Please submit your articles to pam@familysecuritymatters.org with “Article Submission” in the subject line. We’ll get back to you as soon as possible; however, if you don’t hear from us within a couple of days, please feel free to write to check on your article’s status. Those articles accepted for publication usually run within a couple of days, depending upon the timeliness of the subject matter. There are times when we have to push previously scheduled articles out a day in order to make room for more timely pieces – when that happens, we let the author know so s/he isn't left hanging. We do not publish on Sundays or major holidays.
• Articles should range from 700-2,000 words in length. Articles longer than that may be split into parts to run as a series. Please submit your article on a Word document (2003 or earlier, and if you do not have that version, please paste the content into your e-mail), 12 pt Times New Roman, single space (double space between paragraphs) and no paragraph indents. If you know how to insert any necessary hyperlinks (we encourage this, as having the facts handy to back up points made in an article make it stronger) please do; if not, include the relevant URL right after the word you want hyperlinked and we will do it during the editing process. Please include a short bio at the end, which can include links to your own website, if you have one. Once you submit the bio there's no need to submit it again for future articles unless your information changes. If you want reader feedback, please include a public e-mail address – if you have one – in the bio.
• Articles will be edited for grammar, spelling and style. We reserve the right to change the original title. If we edit an article significantly (beyond the usual spelling and style issues), we send it back to the author for approval before publishing, along with an explanation for the edits.
