Obama Team Has Too Many Vacancies, Report Says

President Barack Obama has filled key government jobs about as fast as the Bush administration, but too many top positions -- about 40 percent -- remain vacant nearly one year after Obama took office, says a report being released Wednesday.
While the study by the Partnership for Public Service praised Obama for a well-organized transition last year, it also knocked the president's team and Congress for filling top posts too slowly. Among them: the Transportation Security Administration and the Customs and Border Protection agency -- two agencies tasked with keeping terrorists off planes, a key area of failure in the attempted Christmas Day airliner attack.
"We live in a very dangerous world whereby we can't afford any lapse in leadership," said Max Stier, president of the partnership, a Washington-based advocacy group that works to improve government service.
Other top jobs with no permanent replacement: deputy under secretary for benefits at the Veterans Affairs Department, a post that helps provide benefits and services to the nation's veterans. Read article.

In preparing the new, changed United States, the agent of communist propaganda is a senior fellow of the George Soros Center for American Progress. His name is Mark Lloyd, who wrote an anti-free press speech on “The Structural Imbalance of Political Talk Radio” and a Trojan horse plan, “Forget the Fairness Doctrine” with its Marxist/Communist substitute mandates of localism and diversity, to be deployed by the FCC to limit the number of conservative voices on the air and supplant them with liberal voices. He also suggests fining conservative radio stations up to $250 million and giving the proceeds to National Public Radio. Mr. Lloyd was appointed to the FCC as Chief Diversity Officer (a new kind of position), a content czar.
“First they took away our guns, then our free speech” was the lament of all those who voted for Hitler and the Nazi Party.
Anthony “Van” Jones was in reality fired by Obama on September 6, 2009, even though he said that he quit in order to prevent publicity that would affect Obama’s presidency. His language in a speech referring to Republicans as an unprintable explicative caused the conservative media to look further into his past. He is an admitted communist, just one of a number of Obama’s special ex-advisors, cabinet members and other appointees let go because of blemishes that reflect on Obama’s judgment. He was formerly part of the leadership in Standing Together to Organize a Revolutionary Movement (STORM), a group explicitly committed to revolutionary Marxist politics whose points of unity were revolutionary democracy, revolutionary feminism, and revolutionary internationalism, the central role of the working class, Urban Marxism and third-world communism.
Van Jones’ job was specializing in “green” employment within the White House Council on Environmental Quality. His contribution to the Cap and Trade Bill was endorsing the drastic elimination of all carbon- producing products, which would have, during a recession; grind the economy even further into a depression far worse than that of 1933 – 1939. He also made a statement that the United States Government was responsible for 9-11. This raised the hackles of both moderate liberals and conservatives throughout the nation.
Let’s us not overlook the science Tsar, John Holdren who wrote of the possible need of mandatory sterilization and forced abortions for population control, or Cass Sunstein, White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, favors government regulations banning hunting and eating meat, humans representing animals in court to protect their “rights.” Read article.

President Obama is now asking all of us to mute our criticism of his anti-terror policies and rally around the flag in order to defeat our common enemy, al Qaeda. If only he and his fellow Leftists had shown that same restraint during the Bush years, instead of denouncing the Bush-Cheney detention, interrogation and electronic surveillance policies that kept us safe.
Bill O’Reilly had it exactly right when he said during his January 8th “Talking Points” segment of ”The Factor“ -
President Obama is under withering criticism because his anti-terror policies are deemed ‘too soft’ by some Americans. It’s ironic that President Obama finds himself in pretty much the same position President Bush was in…Since I have been critical of President Obama’s anti-terror strategy, I thought about his appeal. I understand it, but c’mon! Trying Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and the underwear guy in civilian courts is one of the worst political decisions I’ve ever seen.
At least President Bush tried to be consistent. He cared little about the ‘rights’ of foreign terrorists aligned with al Qaeda. Yes, the shoe bomber was tried successfully in federal court. But leaders like Khaleid Sheik Mohammed were squeezed for information before ending up in Guantanamo awaiting a likely military trial. Bush’s clear priority was the security of the American people. The White House plans to expand the Office of Personnel Management. Most Americans don’t even know what this Office is, much less how dangerous it now is. First excerpt:
The Office of Personnel Management, (OPM), is suppose to be an independent government agency that is charged with managing the civil service system of the federal government. If you are a federal employee then civil service laws, rules and regulations that are managed by OPM govern you. One of the main charges of OPM is to administer and oversee federal health care provided to all federal employees.
The Director of OPM is appointed directly by the president and confirmed by the Democratically controlled Senate. The current director of OPM is a fellow by the name of John Berry who, before becoming OPM director this past year, was director of the Smithsonian’s National Zoo. — You cannot make this stuff up.
This is appropriate since in the opinion of Obama’s czars, Cass Sunstein for instance, we are all animals and not souls – so obviously, this is the perfect person for the job. You’ve got to be kidding me… Read article.
Obama's havoc to the Intel system. President establishes intelligence death panels.

President Obama blamed "the system" for failing to stop al Qaeda's Christmas Day bombing plot. The weakness with that excuse is that Mr. Obama fails to connect the dots between the systemic failure and his administration's yearlong record of destroying the morale of the intelligence community.
The intelligence process works in large part because of trust. A reliable sense of confidence must exist between superiors and subordinates, agents and sources, and the intelligence community and policy makers. Without trust, people will not take the risks needed to do their jobs successfully.
Mr. Obama has destroyed this sense of trust. On his watch, the intelligence community has suffered a year of body blows. He made great theater of signing an executive order closing the terrorist detainee facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. In April, the president authorized the release of the so-called "torture memos" on enhanced interrogation techniques used against detainees, and suggested that Congress establish a bipartisan review panel to look into the authorization of extraordinary interrogation methods.
Mr. Obama said, "for those who carried out ... these operations within the four corners of legal opinions or guidance ... provided from the White House, I do not think it's appropriate for them to be prosecuted." He then authorized Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. to begin an investigation, even though career prosecutors at the Justice Department already had examined the circumstances and found no CIA violations of law. Read article.
The Culture of Corruption: Why Back-Room Deals Are the Signature of This Health Care Bill

Usually a major welfare-state bill has to be passed by Congress and go into effect before it is exposed as corrupt. The money has to actually be flowing out of Washington before anyone notices that it's being diverted into a cesspool of special favors and sweetheart deals.
But a lot of things are unprecedented about the current push for a health care bill. Never has such a major expansion of the welfare state been passed without bipartisan support and broad approval from the public. And rarely has the corruption of a program been exposed while it is still awaiting final approval in Congress.
Amazingly, under pressure, the Democrats are not scaling back on the corruption of this bill. They're doubling down. They are trying to salvage a corrupt product by adopting a corrupt process, canceling the traditional conference committee that would harmonize the House and Senate versions of the bill, in favor of closed-door negotiations to produce an even more complicated and opaque compromise.
This is being done in flagrant violation of one of President Obama's major campaign promises: to make the health-care negotiations available to public and specifically to broadcast them on C-SPAN. Breitbart TV has a montage of no fewer than eight campaign appearances at which Obama made this promise, and C-SPAN's Brian Lamb has written an open letter demanding that the president make good on it. The White House has responded by refusing to answer questions on the issue, while Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi just had a Baghdad Bob moment. Baghdad Bob, you may recall, was the Iraqi propaganda flack who famously declared "There are no American infidels in Baghdad" while US tanks were rolling into Saddam's parade grounds less than a mile away. With equal plausibility, Pelosi declared that "There has never been a more open process for any legislation." Read article.
Obama in no rush for State of Union

The State of the Union address may be going the way of the NFL's Super Bowl, another January tradition that has become a February fixture.
No date has been set for the president's annual address to Congress, but with Democrats hoping for a health care bill in hand first, the affair could be pushed until the first week in February or later — marking the latest date for a standard address in modern history.
"Soon" was the short answer that White House press secretary Robert Gibbs gave reporters last week, though he helpfully ruled out Feb. 2, the Tuesday that ABC is supposed to air the final season premiere of its show "Lost."
"I don't foresee a scenario in which millions of people who hope to finally get some conclusion with 'Lost' are pre-empted by the president," he assured ABC's reporters at his daily briefing.
State of the Union dates have been slipping steadily. In the 1930s, the president gave his annual address to Congress during the first week in January. By the 1960s, that had slipped to the second week, and by the 1980s, it was regularly hitting the end of January.
This year, Mr. Obama's search for a date stems from the White House's desire to have a major legislative accomplishment to tout — in this case, health care.
