It is interesting that islam requires laws to protect their written religious writing whereas the Bible declares itself as the Word which shall stand no matter what man does to it. Jesus stated that heaven and earth would pass away before the words of the Bible. Let man do what he wants, he cannot change truth. Christianity does not force itself on others, but allows, as God intended, for mankind to choose whether they wish to repent and accept Jesus Christ as their Savior. What a difference!

This yet another case out of the muslim nuthouse. It is always astonishing to see what this "religion", does to the brains of its adherents. To imprison someone for touching a book with unwashed hands, is itself a mockery of justice, and a crime!

I'm not sure if it is the left or right hand that is the hand that does the shaking, but the other hand is the hand that,,ya know,,,does the shaking!! wonder what the rule is about holding the koran with the hand that does the business,,lol,, wonder what the rules are about that. from what I understand about the culture, you can really offend someone there sticking out the wrong "nasty hand"to say hello. Thank You God for sending your Son, all these rules, I'd never make it, the 10 are hard enough, and the greatest is LOVE. Poor people they have no love.

Strange to me that this prophets' book is so weak and petty that dirty hands will hurt it. The Bible can be burned, thrown, spit upon, cursed, and yes touched with dirty hands and yet it remains unharmed. For myself I prefer a strong book such as the Bible that stands up to all things.

"...for hurting the religious feelings of Muslims when he sent blasphemous SMS."
Now we wouldn't want to hurt the poor, poor Muslim's feelings would we? We know how kind, warm and sensitive they are...

It just shows how funadementally (sic) insecure these people are. If they believed in the strength of their religion it shouldn't matter who does what, their beliefs will prevail. Says everything for their caring and loving god ('g') doesn't it?

It is not just the islamists.
Now an airport chaplain (CofE?) has been "offended" by some cartoons:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/merseyside/8549613.stm
Max. sentence could be 21 years imprisonment.
Meanwhile, priests raping children get "forgiven".
Can I make a claim that a priest's collar offends me and propagates misogyny?

@gsw - Yes, I saw that yesterday. I think I'll start getting offended with crucifixes. After all, a graven image of a young Jewish man being executed is a bit nasty.
I've never read the Koran but if it's anything like the Bible it'll make a great smoke if you run out of rizlas :D

According to Islam, the words of the Qur'an are sacred, not the book itself. Those muslims responsible for this conviction are guilty of idolatry.

Well the world doesnt evolve at the same time, this is just an example of how behind in intellectual evolution certain countries are. Fanatism will destroy, and unfortunately these Islamic countries won't contribute to world peace in any way. We'll have to wait centuries and centuries before we will be even and ready to become better. I just wish they;ll hurry up.
