IRAN: Bill Gertz in the Washington Times writes, “Iran is assisting al Qaeda by facilitating links between senior terrorist leaders and affiliate groups, the commander of U.S. forces in the Middle East told Congress on Tuesday. …
“Gen. Petraeus said the group ‘continues to use Iran as a key facilitation hub, where facilitators connect al Qaedas senior leadership to regional affiliates.’”
“‘And although Iranian authorities do periodically disrupt this network by detaining select al Qaeda facilitators and operational planners, Tehran’s policy in this regard is often unpredictable,’ he stated in written testimony to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.”
Keep in mind – those who wrongly contend that Shia and Sunni do not coordinate efforts – Iran is Shia, Al Qaeda is Sunni.
NORTH AMERICA: Christopher Holton, a vice president with the Center for Security Policy (CSP) and the director of the CSP’s Divest Terror Initiative, emails:
“Linked below are three very important articles that should remind Americans of the threat we face from Islamic jihad, specifically the threat in our very midst.
“The first article is the story of Sharif Mobley, a 26 year old New Jersey Muslim who joined Al Qaeda and has been in prison in Yemen, which is fast becoming a Jihadi nest. The most ominous part of Mobley's story is the fact that he worked in New Jersey nuclear power plants from 2002 to 2008.
“Note in the CNN article that Sen. Charles Schumer of New Jersey is pontificating about how it is unacceptable for terrorists to work in nuclear facilities. This is ironic, given that Sen. Schumer has one of the weakest records on national security in the entire U.S. Senate and has helped create the ‘politically correct’ culture that keeps America from uncovering Jihadis like Mobley in the first place.
“The second article is about a woman from Pennsylvania named Colleen Renee LaRose (aka Jihad Jane). The article tells a sob story about a hard life for this woman who joined the Jihad. It of course ignores the fact that, had she not converted to Islam in the first place, she could have had a hard life and never would have been a terrorist. The essential ingredient is Islam, no matter what anyone says.
“The third and last story is another "Jihad Jane" article about a Colorado woman named Jamie Paulin-Ramirez, another convert to Islam who became a terrorist. “Three Muslim Americans. All from different parts of the country. One white, one black, one Hispanic. Each had a very different background, but all three turned to Jihad and terrorism.
“Keep in mind that all of this came out in just the past week alone.
“How many others are out there that we DIDN'T catch?!”
