I’m 63, and I’m Tired

I'm 63. Except for one semester in college when jobs were scarce and a six-month period when I was between jobs, but job-hunting every day, I've worked, hard, since I was 18. Despite some health challenges, I still put in 50-hour weeks, and haven't called in sick in seven or eight years. I make a good salary, but I didn't inherit my job or my income, and I worked to get where I am. Given the economy, there's no retirement in sight, and I'm tired. Very tired.

I'm tired of being told that I have to "spread the wealth" to people who don't have my work ethic. I'm tired of being told the government will take the money I earned, by force if necessary, and give it to people too lazy to earn it.

I'm tired of being told that I have to pay more taxes to "keep people in their homes." Sure, if they lost their jobs or got sick, I'm willing to help. But if they bought McMansions at three times the price of our paid-off, $250,000 condo, on one-third of my salary, then let the left-wing Congress-critters who passed Fannie and Freddie and the Community Reinvestment Act that created the bubble help them with their own money.

I'm tired of being told how bad America is by left-wing millionaires like Michael Moore, George Soros and Hollywood entertainers who live in luxury because of the opportunities America offers. In 30 years, if they get their way, the United States will have the economy of Zimbabwe, the freedom of the press of China, the crime and violence of Mexico, the tolerance for Christian people of Iran and the freedom of speech of Venezuela .

I'm tired of being told that Islam is a "Religion of Peace," when every day I can read dozens of stories of Muslim men killing their sisters, wives and daughters for their family "honor;" of Muslims rioting over some slight offense; of Muslims murdering Christian and Jews because they aren't "believers;" of Muslims burning schools for girls; of Muslims stoning teenage rape victims to death for "adultery;" of Muslims mutilating the genitals of little girls; all in the name of Allah, because the Koran and Shari'a law tells them to.

I'm tired of being told that "race doesn't matter" in the post-racial world of Obama, when it's all that matters in affirmative action jobs, lower college admission and graduation standards for minorities (harming them the most), government contract set-asides, tolerance for the ghetto culture of violence and fatherless children that hurts minorities more than anyone, and in the appointment of U.S. Senators from Illinois.

I think it's very cool that we have a black president and that a black child is doing her homework at the desk where Lincoln wrote the Emancipation Proclamation. I just wish the black president was Condi Rice, or someone who believes more in freedom and the individual and less arrogantly of an all-knowing government.

I'm tired of a news media that thinks Bush's fundraising and inaugural expenses were obscene, but that think Obama's, at triple the cost, were wonderful; that thinks Bush exercising daily was a waste of presidential time, but Obama exercising is a great example for the public to control weight and stress; that picked over every line of Bush's military records, but never demanded that Kerry release his; that slammed Palin, with two years as governor, for being too inexperienced for VP, but touted Obama with three years as senator as potentially the best president ever. Wonder why people are dropping their subscriptions or switching to Fox News? Get a clue. I didn't vote for Bush in 2000, but the media and Kerry drove me to his camp in 2004.

I'm tired of being told that out of "tolerance for other cultures" we must let Saudi Arabia use our oil money to fund mosques and madrassa Islamic schools to preach hate in America, while no American group is allowed to fund a church, synagogue or religious school in Saudi Arabia to teach love and tolerance.

I'm tired of being told I must lower my living standard to fight global warming, which no one is allowed to debate. My wife and I live in a two-bedroom apartment and carpool together five miles to our jobs. We also own a three-bedroom condo where our daughter and granddaughter live. Our carbon footprint is about 5 percent of Al Gore's, and if you're greener than Gore, you're green enough.

I'm tired of being told that drug addicts have a disease, and I must help support and treat them, and pay for the damage they do. Did a giant germ rush out of a dark alley, grab them, and stuff white powder up their noses while they tried to fight it off? I don't think gay people choose to be gay, but I damn sure think druggies chose to take drugs. And I'm tired of harassment from cool people treating me like a freak when I tell them I never tried marijuana.

I'm tired of illegal aliens being called "undocumented workers," especially the ones who aren't working, but are living on welfare or crime. What's next? Calling drug dealers "Undocumented Pharmacists"? And, no, I'm not against Hispanics. Most of them are Catholic, and it's been a few hundred years since Catholics wanted to kill me for my religion. I'm willing to fast track for citizenship any Hispanic person, who can speak English, doesn't have a criminal record and who is self-supporting without family on welfare, or who serves honorably for three years in our military.... Those are the citizens we need.

I'm tired of latte liberals and journalists, who would never wear the uniform of the Republic themselves, or let their entitlement-handicapped kids near a recruiting station, trashing our military. They and their kids can sit at home, never having to make split-second decisions under life and death circumstances, and bad mouth better people than themselves. Do bad things happen in war? You bet. Do our troops sometimes misbehave? Sure. Does this compare with the atrocities that were the policy of our enemies for the last 50 years and still are? Not even close. So here's the deal. I'll let myself be subjected to all the humiliation and abuse that was heaped on terrorists at Abu Ghraib or Gitmo, and the critics can let themselves be subject to captivity by the Muslims who tortured and beheaded Daniel Pearl in Pakistan, or the Muslims who tortured and murdered Marine Lt. Col. William Higgins in Lebanon, or the Muslims who ran the blood-spattered al Qaeda torture rooms our troops found in Iraq, or the Muslims who cut off the heads of schoolgirls in Indonesia because the girls were Christian. Then we'll compare notes. British and American soldiers are the only troops in history that civilians came to for help and handouts, instead of hiding from in fear.

I'm tired of people telling me that their party has a corner on virtue and the other party has a corner on corruption. Read the papers; bums are bipartisan. And I'm tired of people telling me we need bipartisanship. I live in Illinois, where the "Illinois Combine" of Democrats has worked to loot the public for years. Not to mention the tax cheats in Obama's cabinet.

I'm tired of hearing wealthy athletes, entertainers and politicians of both parties talking about innocent mistakes, stupid mistakes or youthful mistakes, when we all know they think their only mistake was getting caught. I'm tired of people with a sense of entitlement, rich or poor.

Speaking of poor, I'm tired of hearing people with air-conditioned homes, color TVs and two cars called poor. The majority of Americans didn't have that in 1970, but we didn't know we were "poor." The poverty pimps have to keep changing the definition of poor to keep the dollars flowing.

I'm real tired of people who don't take responsibility for their lives and actions. I'm tired of hearing them blame the government, or discrimination or big-whatever for their problems.

Yes, I'm damn tired. But I'm also glad to be 63. Because, mostly, I'm not going to have to see the world these people are making. I'm just sorry for my granddaughter.

That's a lot of raving and ranting, some of which I can agree with. Although I am not a muslim I think I resent you confusing the name with terrorist. The fact that many terrorists are muslims represent a faction of extremists, not the religion itself. No more than the boobs who blow up abortion clinics can really call themselves Christians, the religion of peace.

So I'm Sick and I'm Tired Too

I am a 58-year-old, female, Caucasian, native-born citizen of the US. At present, I have no health care other than AZ Medicaid.

I have spent my working life employed at jobs making about 150% of the poverty level. I have not been able to afford health care insurance for over 30 years. I am one of the "needy" dependent for my health care on our Medicaid program. Indeed, if not for Medicaid, I would not be writing this to you today because I would have died last August.

I have just had to apply for a renewal of my Food Stamps and Medicaid, and have not yet heard if I'll qualify. Yet even I would be willing to pay a little extra in sales and other taxes if it would help poor people keep these needed benefits.

So I'm sick and I'm tired, too.

Tired of being demonized by those equate "providing help to the poor" with "sharing the wealth" and "socialism."

Tired of hearing my own Senator (Kyl) say that Unemployment Benefits are "not a job enhancer, a disincentive."

Tiired of hearing the farcical idea that most legal Americans won't do jobs like
mowing lawns, roofing homes, bagging groceries and serving Big Macs with fries. I've worked at all these jobs and worse -- including dipping out a stopped up portapotty with a pail, by hand, for minimum wage. Why did I do these jobs? Because the illegal immigrants had all the good, high-paying construction jobs. My husband and I were once evicted from a trailer park owned by a construction contractor because he would only allow his illegal employees to live there.

My husband John and I have been married for over 15 years. We've been homeless several times, and in three states. We've been homeless - with or without a vehicle to sleep in - for nearly half our marriage. We are now facing the prospect again.

I was born in Covina, CA and grew up in the Los Angeles area. In 1988, I moved to Grants Pass, OR. That's where I met my husband, who was born in Medford, OR. Having both lost jobs, we were homeless when we met, at the Gospel Rescue Mission. We got married in 1995. With Oregon's economy crumbling, we once lived for several weeks on the nickel deposit on aluminum cans, and on glass and plastic bottles. We lived by recycling scrap metal. We lived on day-labor. We lived out of dumpsters. We camped in the woods, and lived on nature's provender. Finally, we had to leave Oregon to find work, traveling from town to town on recyclables we found by the roadside. We tried Las Vegas, and spent five weeks there, surviving by recycling and day-labor. But they wouldn't hire the homeless for fulltime work. So we moved to Prescott, AZ, in 1997, where we still live.

We have bought and paid off three travel-trailer homes, only to lose them again to job losses. I suppose some would call us "po' white" or "trailer trash," and look down on us for all the stereotypic negatives that implies. But we're NOT trash, we're hard-working PEOPLE. We're not lazy. And we're not stupid, either. I got my BA in Philosophy in 1973, having worked my way through college tutoring Natural Deductive Logic. John was pre-med. When he enlisted in the Air Force during the Viet Nam era, he became a Med Tech.

We take whatever job we can find. Our full work history is quite varied.

My husband's letter to Congress

I was laid off in 2008. I was the manager of a new recycling yard in
Prescott Valley, AZ. I have run out of extensions and I am 2 months behind
on my rent. My last check was for $170.00 in mid Feb. I was making around $400 a week at my job, and expected more as the business grew, so the $192 a week unemployment checks were less than half of my wage.
Have I been looking for work?..Of course I have!..any job, even McDonalds,
would pay far better than unemployment...there are just no jobs here right
now.
I have been forced to put my car up for sale which will make it even harder
to find work!..
If a new extension doesn't come soon, I will be in a tent with a sick wife.
I am 57 years old and my wife is 59 and homelessness at our age would not
only be very hard, it would likely kill my wife.
I really don't know what to do at this point...I am recycling scrap metal and aluminum cans and we are living on about 40 dollars a week that this provides, plus food stamps....
We are only paying $350.00 per month for our small rental,
this includes utilities, so we are definitely not living beyond our
means!..How do I tell my sick wife that we are losing the little that we
have.
I have worked on ranches, in construction, managed 2 recycling yards, and
cooked in restaurants. I never believed that a hard working, willing man
would ever be in the situation we are now in.

So to those who demonize the poor by equating "helping the poor" with "spreading the wealth" and "socialism", I suggest you take the:

The Socialist-Free Purity Pledge

"I pledge to eliminate all government intervention in my life. I will abstain from the use of and participation in any socialist goods and services including but not limited to the following:

"Social Security - Medicare/Medicaid - State Children's Health Insurance Programs (SCHIP) - Police, Fire, and Emergency Services - US Postal Service -- Roads and Highways -- Air Travel (regulated by the socialist FAA) -- The US Railway System -- Public Subways and Metro Systems --Public Bus and Light Rail Systems -- Rest Areas on Highways -- Sidewalks --All Government-Funded Local/State Projects -- Public Water and Sewer Services (goodbye socialist toilet, shower, dishwasher, kitchen sink, outdoor hose!) -- Public and State Universities and Colleges -- Public Primary and Secondary Schools -- Public Museums -- Libraries --Public Parks and Beaches -- State and National Parks -- Public Zoos -- Unemployment Insurance -- Municipal Garbage and Recycling Services --Treatment at Any Hospital or Clinic That Ever Received Funding From Local, State or Federal Government (pretty much all of them) -- Medical Services and Medications That Were Created or Derived From Any Government Grant or Research Funding (again, pretty much all of them) -- Socialist Byproducts of Government Investment Such as Duct Tape and Velcro (Nazi-NASA Inventions) -- Use of the Internets, email, and networked computers, as the DoD's ARPANET was the basis for subsequent computer networking -- Foodstuffs, Meats, Produce and Crops That Were Grown With, Fed With, Raised With or That Contain Inputs From Crops Grown With Government Subsidies -- Clothing Made from Crops (e.g. cotton) That Were Grown With or That Contain Inputs From Government Subsidies -- If a veteran of the government-run socialist US military, I will forgo my VA benefits and insist on paying for my own medical care."

If you are NOT willing to take this pledge, then stop with the vitriolic rhetoric and behavior.

If you are NOT willing to take this pledge, fold it until it is all sharp corners, sit on it, rotate counterclockwise, and STRIP YOUR GEARS.

I agree with you totaly Robert. I believe it a hand up to anyone that needs it. But I'm tired to of those who live with their hand extend as a way of life. I'm 50 years old, never received any form of government assistance even though I once lived in a car. The only things people should expect is to be born and to die. Nothing in this life is easy for people of honor. The dead beats are always looking not for better days, but for something free at someone elses expense. On men should be quick to help other men, but no man should have to carry the weight of one who hasn't or isn't willing to try to carry their share. Not including those who are doing the best they can with what they have, this country with the help of people like Obama is quickly becoming a country of dead beats with their hand out because they think someone owes them simply because they were bless to be born in America and not a third world country. Help those who try to help themself and to heck with the rest!

Midge I don't believe that it is people like you that he is talking about. All of us have hit on hard times in our life. It is those that expect something for nothing that is the problem. And there are lots of folks and teenagers who will do those jobs but why hire them when companies can hire illegals who work under the table and don't contribute to the taxes or SS etc.

I very rarely post a comment on websites, but this time I will, in an effort to help people open their eyes. This "I'm Tired" story is a fraud. Its intent is to keep you in the mind set of "fight or flight." Don't fall for this, folks. Demonizing groups of people is not going to solve anything. This story was written to keep you buying into "power politics." They want you in this mind-set because it is an effective method to control you. It's all ritual and magic spells.

Great real american story of the principles our country was founded Robert. Remember that liberalism is a mental disorder and no matter how hard we try to understand, a socialist system is simply not sustainable let alone the correct course for any country. I am in my 23 year of paint contracting without using a single illegal laborer. all my competition uses them. I will not ever compromise my values or my country for a dollar. Lets just cut to the chase and set a standard of term (1 term) limits for all elected officials! RS

Sorry guy, but it sounds like your a person who hasn't figured out the system yet. WE don't elect anyone the creditors do(The real owners), the ones that sent you to Vietnam remember, and they play between parties in the old divide and conquer strategy, so the sheeple are well controlled, and whining like you. Your a big whiner. You haven't figured out who you are, where you live, and that you have been a economic slave your whole life, and failed to see the innate power you possess and your 63!? Freedom is yours for the taking when you wake up to who and what you really are. You really think you are your identity they have given you at birth don't you?

@Rossmore

I'm kinda curious what you mean by our innate power? Honestly I don't see anyone out there changing the system. You're berating this man who could be as lost and confused as you say he is, but I have much more respect for him than the majority of the sheeples in America.

TBH it sounds like you're whining as well.

Great article though, though I have to say all it does is really confirm my suspicion that America's going down the drain unless we brace for lean times ahead.
It's the excess of democracy in my opinion. The government and elected officials appease the increasingly lazy masses by screwing the hard working in an effort to retain votes and maintain the status quo.

Nobody wants to be the bearer of bad news, and nobody wants to be the politician that cuts welfare or raises taxes. In fact, it's why I think CERTAIN aspects of a controlled economy are admirable. In the hands of a capable party, they can strong-arm the people into submission for the greater good.
But as the old saying goes, absolute power corrupts absolutely. Perhaps we as a people will soon see the necessary changes that have to be made to move forward.

Thank you Mr. Hall, for sharing your thoughts which all of us who love and understand what this great Nation is all about can identify with...and especially your service!!! I am 62 and have a brother who served in Vietnam as well.

After reading all the posts it is quite obvious which responders either do not understand what America is all about, or flat out don't care. I share your sentiments Sir and appreciate and thank you!

Greg Q, I suggest you do some research before judging Mr. Hall's letter a fraud. This has been verified and is real. There really ARE people in this Country who feel this way. It is unfortunate there are those who assume anything written in a strong, patriotic and sensible manner is automatically labeled a fraud.

Just one more thing. People need to understand that those in power who call themselves "Democrats" are not Democrats, they are "Progressives". Progressives cannot abide a free country. When was the last time we ever had a President and leaders of Congress berate, belittle, revert to name-calling, demonize and just plain ignore the American public? What we are seeing is divisive behavior intended to deepen the divide and cause deep distrust amongst the American people. Class warfare, demonize anyone who works their butts off making a living and teaching the children of today that their parents are stupid, have no right to tell them what to do, demand whatever they want...and almost every day we read about teens who murder each other for whatever reason, but usually because the one murdered had something they wanted and would not give it to them. We see parents "dumbed down" in commercials, more and more. Have you seen the latest car commercial where the spoiled kid goes around calling his parents "lame" and that other kids should not let their parents be "lame"...because they don't own the "right" car? There's a message in these supposedly "funny" commercials.

Crickets?

Thought so.

Thanks again Mr. Hall...and THANK YOU to ALL of our military personnel no matter where they are!!!

"I am 71 and I am also tired." I respectfully, do not fully agree with Mr. Hall. I do however honor his service to our country.

Mr. Hall states that he was in college and that jobs were scarce and says that he didn't inherit his job or income and worked hard to get where he is at. Such achievements are to be respected. Mr. Hall however neglects to point out that during that period in time that a small minority met the educational requirements or were financially privileged to attend collage. The vast majority of our parents, as were mine, were poor, had very little education, and worked in low paying unskilled service and labor jobs and could not afford to send their children to collage. He is one of the more fortunate ones.

He states "I'm tired of being told that I have to "spread the wealth" to people who don't have my work ethic
I'm tired of being told the government will take the money I earned, by force if necessary, and give
it to people too lazy to earn it.

Mr. Hall, by his own admission, has had a good life, a position of employment that has provided him with recognition and financial reward. Yet, He is tired of being told that he has to pay more taxes to support those who have worked hard all their lives, and through no fault of their own, are now considered by him to be lazy and don't have his work ethic.

I'm surprised that Mr. Hall hasn't said I'm tired of being told that the right & left-wing millionaires & billionaires who live in luxury because of the opportunities America affords should have to give up their privileged extra tax break that they have been enjoying for the past 10 years just to keep our country out of the ditch that they put us in.

It is reasonable to conclude from Mr. Hall's statements that he does not believe in democracy, he does not believe in religious freedom, he is raciest, and has a selfish self serving attitude. He should be giving thanks to his god for the many blessings that he has received and show a willingness to pass those blessings on to the less fortunate.
God Bless America

It seems if liberal write retorts, Hall's commentary is of course, racist, un-American,and could not possibly reflect a true ideology of Americanism that used to be the majority opinion before the entitlement-welfare-real un-American ethos took over America in the last 50 yrs. The facts are that many Americans do not want to dis the really hurting, the working poor, or Americans who are crippled in many areas. They all deserve our safety net. The non-productive ignorant gangster lazy types do not. Illegals do not. People who are not sexually responsible do not. Those who whine, protest and undermine true republican democracy and those who are Quislings and demand our Const. rights, do not. Libs hate this since sin, treason, welfare bums, perverse groups are their true heroes not the type of guy Hall is. Too bad.

Midge Baker, unlike some of the other readers who blindly accept your whining, you are part of the problem that makes most of us tired. You are financially poor because of your attitude. I daresay your attitude stems from your teens when you blithely accepted socialist dogma that the government owes you everything. Have you taken your own oath? Do you live by it? If yes, then you made the choice to do so based on your attitude. You decided where and when you went to work when you had jobs. Your attitude got you booted out. No employer wants a free thinker who constantly rationalizes and whines. That was your choice again based on your attitude. When you change your attitude, and find satisfying employment, you won't have to worry about being homeless or whatever. Your attitude, set and controlled by you while in complete submission to God will change your life. If you are as hard working and frustrated as you say you are, try dedicating a few years to reading the Bible, praying for guidance, and responding to the doors opened to you in a way that pleases God. He has helped others far worse off than you lead a happy and satisfying life and He can do it for you, too, if you let him.

WOW! A guy as tired as you are should lie down and take a nap.

Especially after spending 10 years as a senator in the MOST liberal state in the country. Curious if you folks get a life-long pension like the "big boys" do in Washington.

Quarter million dollar home? Good for you. But there are a lot of us who live in homes that are worth less than your garage.

As for Midge. I feel for ya dear, but almost 60, been tossed from a trailer park and lived in trailers almost forever? Something is wrong with this picture. Maybe you need to get out here in the Midwest and out of the lunatic coast.

Greg Q seems to be one of the few level heads in here today. But then that is coming from me, and there are plenty who will tell you I'm nuts.

Oh Well.

Thank you 57 and exhausted. I don't know if I will ever be able to quit working. I am grateful to be working but I get up tired and go to sleep tired. Thank you for your service and your words.

I am sick and tired too .. Tired of hearing the left and right politicians making excuses and pointing fingers at each other.. sick and tired of the name calling and labeling of others for whatever reason or excuses one can find. Tired of hearing people blaming other individuals (who may be out of work now and down on their luck? because they are having to pay taxes instead of blaming the ones who are passing laws and forcing us to pay the stupid taxes on everything they can possibly thing of. The income tax is illegal in the way it is implemented today so if your wanting to complain how about sharing at least some of that blame with the bureacrats too and not just pointing fingers at he easy targets. Those who may be wanting a job really badly but can't get work. We need to start putting the blame of those who has created this situation in the first place..Who benefits most from an economy like we have today? It's certainly not the little guy. You lose your homes and land and the fat bankers get to take it after u have already likely paid for it twice already then later they will get to sell it back to you (when the economy becomes stronger again) and make yet another fortune off that same property again. So I ask again who is really benefiting most from all this? It's certainly not the guy who is out of work! Please stop with the mind set that most people are just looking for a handout when you know very well that the economy is tanking and jobs are now harder to find. Count your blessings if you still have a job and think.. tomorrow u might not have that job and then if u have to seek unemployment u just might be blamed too as your now blaming others? Would you prefer to see people living in tents and starving? If so I ask..Where's your humanity?

Wow! Still getting responses-& I'll weigh in b/c I googled,"tired of workaday life," & ended up here. I'm glad I have a job,& earned a good one, albeit w/ "static" wages lately (furlough days, etc.),as is my husband's, too. I raised kids & put hubby thru' Ph.D (while he also worked full time--AS he had done to pay for his undergrad school) on 6 yrs of substitute teacher pay...pitiful daily wages & grueling, punishing work. Then, I put my kids through college on same, & last, sub-paid my way thru' grad. school nights & weekends(AND CA requirement- English as a 2nd langugage---Spanish---training, to the tune of $10,000 more, so I could compete for a job)For some of this time I had to get up at 4 A.M. to drive 70 mi, attend a session, drive back & go to work until 2 or 3 P.M., & then sometimes go again at 5 P.M. to the same distant town for class until 10 P.M., drive the hour home, & get up to do it all over again the next day). We paid out of check book for the most part for everything, w/a few "low-ball" ($500-$1,000 fr local benevolent orgs.--thank God) ACADEMICALLY earned scholarships. My kids have been gainfully employed since day ONE of their graduations. I've now worked 15 yrs w/"regular" contract, & I KNOW there is NO end in sight for me. I grew up on a dairy farm where only my Dad (who worked same as I did...go figure that it would have been a role model) earned a college degree in over 250 years of our family being in this country. My husband's family NEVER earned a college degree despite being in this country since 1600's VA. My family consisted of farmers and craftsmen (& spoke an alternative language for generations--other than English), his family--laborers & small businessmen. My point is, we've never had help, & we were clearly not a favored "class" for some sort of help or subsidy--& yet, even at our lowest, we contributed to charities, & raised a foster child...we even worked on an Indian Reservation for 6 yrs when young & idealistic..& I would probably do it all over again...but when will the day come that parents of the kids I teach get a job, go to the trainings offered them, feed their kids & dogs instead of buying the drugs/alcohol/whatever that they require, clothe the kids & give them a PENCIL or a bandaid over an "owiee" to come to school? When will they come to a parent teacher conference sober, accepting responsibility for over-seeing homework, behavior, basic needs of their child? I am in despair with the state of today's kids and it is NOT a problem with the kids...but with thier PARENTS. Everywhere you look these days it's the TEACHERS who are disparaged in the press for not working hard enough, not caring--taking more than giving. I'm at the end of my rope on this...esp when I see parental malaise/neglect in my small (NON-Urban) town. It's accepted to depend upon community & government organizations to "do" the raising of children. Folks ...we can't do it. We don't have the legal authority for most of it...we have to look on and do the best we can when certain circumstances arise (like the child needs an aspirin,a Dr. visit, eyeglasses, mental health care, or cleansing with soap & water...)& we can only call a parent to conference on a concern---but have NO authority to back up identified problems or solutions unless the child is being abused or downright abandoned. THEN, we are mandated reporters--& will, in all certainty, pay a personal or professional price for turning in a parent for such. My husband & I both are in what I now look upon as "helping" professions (I used to think it was education) & I love my kids...I often tell them that we create our OWN world in our classroom when that door is closed on the outside world...this empowers them, makes them feel "safe," and also lends a "mystical" feel to their learning, in the way that it allows them to "invent" themselves anew, regardless of where they come from and where their parents are today. But, I only have them for a little less than an hour a day.......Pray for us, for the health of our nation & for the sake of the child that it might be enough to get him to the next teacher or role model that can lead him/her onward... As for me...I plan to drop DEAD in the classroom. I have no other choice these days, though I am tired & wish things were different/better for me & for them.

I believe everything this country was, isn't now. I believe we are all tired and still nothing changes, I will submit to the volume of Americans that we need to turn back the power to who has been pushed aside, WE THE PEOPLE !
