Exclusive: Ya Doesn’t Hafta Call Me Hussein
Back in the 1970s, comedian Bill Saluga made it big with a zoot-suited character named Raymond J. Johnson Jr. If called Johnson, Saluga erupted, "Ahh, ya doesn't has to call me Johnson! You can call me Ray, or you can call me Jay, or you can call me Johnny or you can call me Sonny, or you can call me RayJay, or you can call me RJ... but ya doesn't hafta call me Johnson."
Who would have thought that Saluga's tirade would characterize reaction to the mention of the middle name of the presumptive Democratic nominee for president, Barack Hussein Obama? Dropping the "H" bomb when referring to him gets more than a comical rant - it gets you labeled racist.
Why should this surprise anyone?
The terminology Gestapo activated itself less than a week after the attacks of September 11, 2001, when the President stated that we would be waging a crusade against a new kind of evil.
The Crusades were waged between 1096 and 1270 by Christian armies in an effort to regain Palestine, or what is now Israel, from the Muslim armies that controlled Jerusalem.
Critics of Bush warned that the term "crusade" will alienate moderate Muslims ready to step up to the plate and defend America.
(This just in! Medical supplies stockpiled in a warehouse for possible victims trampled by hordes of Muslims flocking to defend America were diverted overseas to help innocents impacted by Muslim rage over a series of Danish cartoons.)
The term crusade was quickly dropped in favor of the politically correct "war on terrorism." The terminology Gestapo was looking out for us, don't ya think?
Their latest show of concern appears in a nine-page policy report issued earlier this year by the Office for Civil Rights and Civil Liberties of the Department of Homeland Security.
In "Terminology to Define Terrorism: Recommendations From American Muslims," we are told that "words matter." We are directed by DHS, and the anonymous group of influential American Muslims that helped with the report, to stop using the word "Jihad," even if it is accurate to reference the term, because it damages relations with Muslims around the globe.
If we can't use anything characteristically Islamic to explain why people want to kill us, what makes you think we would be allowed to address the possible next president as Barack Hussein Obama without being severely rebuked?
The candidate himself knows what's in a name. Not campaigning in mosques and avoiding photo ops with women in headscarves seems to speak volumes.
The popular English-language saying "Sticks and Stones" is reversed in B. Hussein's case to "but names will hurt me."
What's he hiding?
There's something rotten in Denmark and it isn't the Danish cartoonists.
