Professor Walid Phares, FSM contributor and Jihadism and Terrorism Expert, is the Director of the Future Terrorism Project and a Senior Fellow with the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies in Washington, D.C. He is also a Visiting Scholar with the European Foundation for the Defense of Democracy. Dr Phares served as a Terrorism and Middle East analyst with MSNBC from 2003 to 2006 and is now a Fox News contributor. He also appears on CNN, BBC, C-Span, ABC, CBS, CBN, and on Canada’s CBC, CTV and Global TV. He is a frequent guest on al Jazeera, al Hurra, al Arabiya, Russian TV and other networks around the world and is a daily participant in national and international radio talk/news programs.

Professor Phares testifies to, and regularly conducts briefings at, the US Congress, the European Parliament and the UN Security Council. He is consulted by the departments of State, Defense, Justice, and Homeland Security on academic matters related to national security and the War on Terror.

Dr. Phares is the author of eight books, in multiple languages, on the Middle East and Global Conflicts. His latest are the Foreign Affairs best seller, Future Jihad: Terrorist Strategies against the West (2006), and the recently published, The War of Ideas: Jihadism against Democracy" (2007). He has authored many scholarly pieces and published hundreds of articles around the world.

Professor Phares teaches on Terrorism and world politics at the LLS Program of Florida Atlantic University, and on Jihadi strategies at the National Defense University.
