Petition: Call Congress Back, Madame Speaker
Two weeks ago, Congress adjourned for a five-week summer recess with the current energy crisis still unresolved.
When asked several times by ABC's George Stephanoplous why she wouldn't allow a straight up-and-down vote on expanding offshore drilling, Pelosi responded in part:
"This is a diversionary tactic from a failed energy policy...because the misrepresentation is being made that this will reduce the price at the pump. This is a, uh, again, a decoy, not a solution...We have a debate every single day on this subject. But we have a planet to save."
