Former U.S. Muslim Brotherhood Figure Praises Deaths of Israelis in Forest Fires

MEMRI has reported that Dr. Salah Sultan (aka Solah Sultan, Sallah Sultan) joined the secretary-general of the Association of Palestinian Islamic Scholars Abroad in praising the deaths of Israelis in the recent forest fires in that country. According to the MEMRI report:
 
Following are excerpts from a public address delivered by Sheikh Abd Al-Jabbar Sa’id, secretary-general of the Association of Palestinian Islamic Scholars Abroad. Next to him on the stage, Dr. Salah Sultan, president of the Columbus, Ohio-based American Center for Islamic Research, led the crowd in shouting “Allah Akhbar!” The clip aired on Al-Aqsa TV on December 9, 2010.
 
Sheikh Abd Al-Jabbar Sa’id: “One of the brothers gave me this note, bearing glad tidings: 40 Israelis were killed and 45 were injured…”
 
Sallah Sultan, president of the American Center for Islamic Research: “Say ‘Allah Akbar!’”
 
Crowd: “Allah Akbar!”
 
Sheikh Abd Al-Jabbar Sa’id: “…and 45 were injured in a fire in the north of occupied Palestine.”
 
Man in crowd: “Say ‘Allah Akbar!’”
 
Crowd: “Allah Akbar! “Praise be to Allah.”
 
Man in crowd: “Say ‘Allah Akbar!’”
 
Crowd: “Allah Akbar! “Praise be to Allah.”
 
Sheikh Abd Al-Jabbar Sa’id: “This happened on Mt. Carmel. We ask Allah to strike them with more of the same, and to use them to demonstrate the wonders of His powers.”
 
 
In April of this year, MEMRI translated comments by Dr. Sultan in which he accused Jews of using Christian blood for Matzoh (substitute for bread used during the Jewish holiday of Passover) in an example of what is called “blood libel”, the accusations that Jews use human blood in religious rituals. Historically these are accusations that the blood of Christian children is especially coveted and date back to the 1st Century.
 
Dr. Salah Sultan (aka Solah Sultan, Sallah Sultan) had left the U.S. following negative press reports in the U.S. media which led the authorities there to suspend his application for American citizenship and, as discussed in a previous post, relocated to Bahrain in 2007. Dr Sultan’s online resume indicates that he is or was a member of several important U.S. and European Muslim Brotherhood organizations including the European Council for Fatwa and Research, the Fiqh Council of North America, and the Islamic American University, closely associated with the Muslim American Society (MAS).This resume also expresses Dr. Soltan’s vision “To live happily. To die as a martyr.”
 
Another previous post discussed some of Dr. Sultan statements including an appearance on Saudi TV where Dr. Sultan asserted that the US planned the 9/11 attacks as a pretext for terrorizing the world and praising Osama bin Laden confidante Abd Al-Majid Al-Zindani. A recent MEMRI TV report identified previously virulently anti-Semitic and anti-American comments made by Dr. Sultan on Egyptian TV in late December. Another post discussed a seminar featuring Dr. Sultan sponsored by the European Assembly for Imams and Spiritual Guides, closely associated with the Federation of Islamic Organizations In Europe (FIOE).

Cory Booker tweets #IStandWithObama; Hashtag hijackers flood the zone

Newark, N.J., Mayor Cory Booker, the Democrat who defended Bain from the Obama campaign's attacks yesterday morning, has been backpedaling more furiously than a clown on a high wire. Tonight, in an effort to mollify his critics on the Left, he posted four tweets that included the hashtag #IStandWithObama. Conservatives immediately took over the #IStandWithObama hashtag to mock President Obama, and within an hour it became a trending topic.

Cory Booker tries to clear up his position on Bain attacks

Cory Booker continued his quest to run screaming away from the apparently too candid comments he made on Meet the Press on Sunday. Despite attempts earlier today to #FreeCoryBooker from those trying to force him to apologize Booker went on the Rachel Maddow show to do everything he could to walk back what he said.
