The Missing Moderate Muslims
Humanity has suffered horrific wars in the past. Yet, the present multi-form and multi-front war waged by Islamists has the potential of inflicting more suffering and destroying more lives than any before it. Ruthless Islamic forces are advancing rapidly in their conquests while those of freedom are acquiescing and retreating. Before long, Islamism is poised to achieve its Allah-mandated goal of cleansing the earth of all non-Muslims. Any and all means and weapons are to be enlisted in the service of this final holy war that aims to establish the Islamic Ummah.
But Islam is a religion of peace and the great majority of Muslims are not party to any plans and actions of the radicals, so claim academic pundits, leftist journalists, and hired Islamic apologists. The incantation of these “authorities” is the lullaby that puts the people into a sleep of complacency. For an average free human busy with all manners of demands on his time and resources, would hardly want to worry about the threat of Islamism when those he believes are “in the know” emphatically claim that there is nothing to worry about. Some of these advocates of Islam go further by accusing those who sound the alarm as racist, bigot, hatemonger and much more.
But where are all the peace-loving moderate Muslims that supposedly are in great majority? The Muslims who are neither jihadists themselves, nor do they support them? I and others, time and again, have been calling upon them to stand up and show the world that they oppose the fanatical Islamists. It is small comfort even if the vast majority of Muslims are not fanatic radicals, when they do nothing to demonstrate their position. It is instructive to recall that it is invariably a minority, and more often than not a very small minority, that launches a campaign of death and destruction.
Perhaps it is wishful thinking on the part of the non-Muslims to believe that one can be a Muslim moderate, given that Islam is radical at its very core. To be a moderate Muslim demands that the person explicitly renounce much of the violent, exclusionary, and radical teachings of the Quran. By so doing, the individual issues his own death warrant in Islamic countries, is condemned as apostate if he lives in a non-Islamic land and may even earn a fatwa on his head.
It is deadly, in any confrontation, to assess the adversary through one’s own mental template, because the two templates can be vastly different from each other. People in the West are accustomed in relativistic rather than absolutistic thinking. To Westerners, just about all matters range from black to white with an array of gray shades between the two poles. To Muslims, by contrast, nearly everything is in black and white and with virtually no shades of gray. The former type of thinking is typical of more mature minds, while the latter is that of young children and the less-enlightened.
This absolutist thinking is enshrined in the Quran itself. When the starting point for a Muslim is the explicit fanatical words of Allah in the Quran, then the faithful are left with no choice other than literally obeying its dictates or even taking it to the next level of fanaticism. Good Muslims, for instance, do not shake hands with women, even though the Quran does not explicitly forbid it. Although the Quran stipulates that men are rulers over women, good Muslim men take it upon themselves to rule women not much better than they treat their domesticated animals.
All extreme systems operate outside of the constraints of checks-and-balances and according to the principle of negative feedback loop. That is, once it starts, the extreme becomes more and more extreme until self-destructs and takes the larger system down with it. Cancer is a case in point. It begins with only a few cells. Left unchecked, the few cells continue expanding and stop only with the death of the host.
Fanatical Islam may indeed be a minority. Yet it is a deadly cancer that has metastasized throughout the body of the world. Urgent confrontation of this advancing disease is imperative to stave it off.
Dozens of Islamist shooting wars of lesser and greater bloodletting are presently raging in the world, aided and abetted by the “moderate Muslim” majority. The so called moderate Muslims, even if they exist, are complicit in the crimes of the radicals either by providing them with funds, logistics, and new recruits or by simply failing to actively confront and unequivocally renounce them.
As is the case with cancer cells, it is the malignant minority that is death-bearing.
In Germany of the 1930s, for instance, very few people were Nazis and most Germans dismissed them as a bunch of hot-headed fools. Before long, the hot-headed few cowed in the dismissive masses and as a result millions lost their lives.
The tentacles of the Islamist hydra have deeply penetrated the world. The Egyptian-based Muslim Brotherhood poses a clear threat in Egypt with its large block of representatives in the parliament, but also wages its deadly campaign through its hundreds of well-established and functioning branches all over the world.
The Wahhabis finance thousands of madressehs throughout the world where young boys are brainwashed into becoming fanatical footsoldiers for the Petrodollar-flush Saudis and other emirs of the Persian Gulf.
The end-of-the-world believers of the bomb-aspiring Iran’s Khomeinism are busy establishing the Shia hegemony in an arc extending from the Gulf of Oman to the Mediterranean Sea.
Al Qaeda and dozens of its like-minded jihadists relentlessly carry their barbaric campaigns in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Kashmir, the Philippines, the former Soviet Union republics, the Russian federation, Somalia, North Africa and parts of Europe, as well as other lands.
I keep hoping that the purported peace-loving moderate Muslims are indeed the great majority who would prove me right by demonstrating their peacefulness and moderation in action. Thus far, only a faint murmur of equivocation is all that I hear from these people.
Are “moderate Muslims” an illusion? The only viable alternative for peaceful people of Islamic background, therefore, is to leave the bondage of violent Islam altogether and join ranks with humanity’s free.
The selected puppet president Ahamadinejad boasts that Iran’s mullahs’ nuclear train has no reverse gear and lacks brakes. He should harbor no illusions. The non-Islamist masses of Iranians will not docilely submit to the mullahs’ maniacal plans. It is the unmatched force of freedom that has no reverse gear and it is the force fully capable and determined to bring the mullahs’ train to a screeching halt before it is armed with the Armageddon nuclear weapons they so doggedly pursue.

Islam is an ideology specifically designed by its founder for conquest of foreign lands . One way or the another, it is the duty of every Muslim to support this 'divine' conquest.
Moderate Muslims must be seen as the vanguard of this conquest.
However, terrorism prematurely exposes the true face and nature of Islam. This is why it is often portrayed as ‘unislamic’, as it can jeopardize the final objective.

This is what "Moderate" Muslims must do
1. Moderate muslims (if they exist) must be willing to put their 'national' identity to the country where they are living and have citizenship - ie in Britain, the USA - before their loyalty to the ummah. They must put being British first, then being muslim - if they truly want to be a part of the society at large - and being a change of good. I always here that they are Muslims....rarely American, British - usually only as an after thought.
2. The so-called moderate muslims must take on the muslim (civil rights ha!ha!) organizations whose leaders make takiyya statements or jump at any imagined insult and the imams in the mosques where hatred for anything non-Muslim is spread.
If other religious groups took to such
protests on any slight as these thinned-skinned muslims do, perhaps people would wake up. Part of the problem for those of us reared in the West is, we are too polite. We were reared to listened to other opinions - allowing others
to express it and saying - live and let live. Muslims are reared with the idea of the superiority of Islam and Muslimsm thus
they can lie (takiyya) to the infidel (kafir) to ensure the spread of Islam (dawa).
3. The moderate muslims need to be honest and seriously confront the inherent ugliness in Islam and taking a closer look at what is allowed and not via the hadiths and the various traditions as set forth in the interpretation of the law. The first place to begin is to confront the Muslims who say one thing in English and then something completely different in Arabic. What is preached in English is different to what is preached in Arabic. The public at large needs to know these differences. I am very thankful for MEMRI with the texts for various interviews and speeched form the Middle-East.
4. Moderate muslims and imams should and must speak openly and clearly against a) the horror of 9/11, the Madrid Bombings, the London Bombings, suicide bombers b) when non-muslims are
attacked in muslim countries, c)on the conditions for non-muslims in muslim countries, on the unequal conditions for women in muslim countries WITHOUT FEAR of being labeled an apostate - thus losing their families and possibly their lives. Speaking out on Islam must not mean an death sentence for those brave enough to do so. The same for those leaving Islam.
5. Moderate muslims must forge a reformation in
Islamic thinking so that it does become compatible with democracy. Present day islam is completely incompatible with democracy since it is a theocracy. An interesting book dealing with the issue of human rights in Islam is the recent "Islam and Human Rights: Tradition and Politics" by associate professor in legal studies at the Wharton Shool, Ann Elizabeth Mayer.
6. Moderate muslims must ask themselves whether or not they want to actually live under a form of sharia (Iran or Saudi Arabia) ... the men most likely will not want to give up their power...the women if not brained washed into accepting their less then equal status
under sharia probably would prefer having the choice which they have in their lives in the West. Wearing a head scarf is quite different from wearing a burqa or a melaya.
7. Moderate muslims could do this IF they exist and are willing to come together and face this ugly beast of presently practiced in the various sects in Islam.
Moderate muslims have to be willing to face the
unsavory facts about their religion and their imams and determine what type of society in which they want to live.
I am so thankful that I am an AMERICAN WOMAN living in a country with more freedoms than any where else in the world. I much prefer living in this less-than perfect democratic republic than under the perfection found under sharia.

Moderate Muslims are a myth. If a person is truly a Muslim, then they must follow the teachings of the Quran as follows:
Kill the Jews and the Christians if they do not convert to Islam or refuse to pay Jizya tax (9:29)
Any religion other than Islam is not acceptable (3:85)
Terrorize and behead those who believe in scriptures other than the Qur’an (8:12)

This is very Powerful -- and true about Islam -- and the goodness of the essence of
Christianity -- even for the non-believer. In the Christian tradition
Satan is a liar, and tells a thousand seductive lies that sound like the
truth. And remember that the poets said that truth was beauty -- and
beauty truth. Even mathematicians and chemists will tell you that an
equation or chemical structure has to look beautiful to be true -- ugly
ones usually do not work. There is something in the universe which
points us to truth -- and lies always produce ugliness and evil.
"By their fruits you will know them" Christ said, when asked how shall
we tell the true prophets from the false ones. I've found that to
always be true.

Are there any "moderate" Muslims? My feeling is there are the religious
ones who want to cut my throat -- and the ones who simply ignore a large
part of their faith -- the secular ones. But my impression is that
there is no such thing as a "moderate" form of true Islam -- how can you
have moderation when God himself dictated the rules? You can't be "moderate" in following some rules and not others. Once Muslims start
taking their religion seriously, it seems to me, they turn violent and
extreme.
And when is the West going to wake up to the fact that these mosques are
preaching violence and hatred and not faith and shut them down or at
least monitor them and close down the ones that preach hatred. This western tolerance of everything branded "religion" and leaving it beyond
the reach of law must stop. If there were secular clubs that taught and preached terrorism and violence they would be shut down, the members arrested and the organization declared illegal. But because these
mosques hide under the guise of "religion", we westerners take a hands-off attitude. It's suicidal. Plus, these mosques are destroying
the lives of people who were previously peaceful by brainwashing them to
hatred and intolerance.

Those who are not in agreement with the Koran but still claim to be Muslims are, of course, heretics.

Excellent article. Thanks for writing it. I notice you are of Iranian heritage. Can you make any suggestions on how an ordinary American can help support the Greens? I've been looking for some positive way to help since they started demonstrating in June of 2009, and can't find anything useful to do on my own. I'd hate to turn my back on any people singing the song of angry men.

The so called moderate Muslim is not a Muslim, he / she is a Muslim in name only (MINO).
TACTIC to FIGHT ISLAM
A Marines view, the right knowledge, training, and tactics increase the odds of winning in every field of battle.
We have seen several pieces stating the dangers of Islam recently. None of these provide have a plan to attack this US Government sponsored infiltration. The US Government methodology is to concentrate these Muslims in selected communities with the intent to build a group that is large enough to disrupt the local community. This program was started during the Clinton administration, continued by Bush and doubled by Obama.
I have been watching a community a few miles from here, Murfreesboro, TN, that now has 35,000 or more resettled Muslim refugees. This group is now large enough to disrupt the City and County government meetings, raising complaints and demanding special privileges and services. Several of these political complaints and demands have be emphasized with noisy demonstrations, near riots blocking access to buildings and streets.
So far it appears to me that these activists are successfully trampling the rights of all other citizens and causing significant expenditures of tax funds. Other than some stumbling efforts by the State Legislature to craft law(s) to control this activity. Politicians are usually stopped by the of claimed Religious freedom stumbling block used by home grown liberal non Muslim politicians who support the Muslims to stop such action.
It is my observation that the key to formulating a strategy is knowledge. The study of and understanding that Political Islam and Sharia Law is very difficult for Christians and Jews due to our framework of logical thinking required for our understanding of about everything.
Several years ago I met a Muslim who had convert to Catholicism. By this time I had worked in two Islamic countries and was totally confused. So I ask him to explain why I couldn’t understand the all apparent contradictions'.
He started:
“Forget anything you may assume a religion should be for a follower, like supporting natural law, loving and being fair to all people, responsible participation in society, charity, free will and self determination, or paying to God as yourself. In Islam none of this is true, it is a dualistic system of control, that demands internal and external struggle, doing everything as Mohamed would. There is no love, kindness, charity or consideration of others, when a Muslim prays it is a if the prayer is from and for Mohamed. If you understand this you can begin to study and understand the matrix of hate and revenge with the goal of the victory of Islam, controlling all people and things. Islam is not a Religion as defined or understood by the Western mind.†This may not be an exact quotation but close enough to give you the Idea.
Another key is understanding, for Muslims any means is justified to achieve the goal of Islamic world domination. To the Christian or Jew killing is murder, stealing the property of other is theft. Under Political Islam / Sharia law these are not only condoned but encouraged if undertaken to further Islam.
With knowledge, every claim or augment by the Islamism can be countered by quoting the opposite meaning direct from elsewhere in the Koran and Sharia law due to the total dualism in these documents, nothing is firm, except the goal of an enslavement type world domination by Islam.
It is my view that the best tactic when the Muslim penetration level is low (less than 2%) is proselytization of Muslims by active well trained Christian and Jewish evangelists specializing in the conversion of Muslims. Christianity and Judaism is very “salable†to any thoughtful person particularly women and better educated men. This is the reason that Muslim leaders go to great length to keep their community isolated from contact with evangelists'. These Muslim leaders also recognize that converts turn into the most effective apostles working with in the community.
My observation is that Muslim leaders are well versed in the Old and New Testament using this knowledge against Christians and Jews. Where-as most Christians Jews know little about Islam except what the see and hear on FOX or CNN.
It pains me to say this, but our religious people who should be using their religious freedom rights as aggressively as the Muslims every time the Muslims try to force the cost their system on taxpayers of other faiths or infringe on religious rights of others. It is recognized by the people and the courts that Ministers and Rabies have a right to be out spoken in their demands for no infringement they should be doing the as a matter of principal, few are, they are too lazy, stupid or don’t care enough to join the struggle and loosing the contest by default. A few politicians' are trying but are at a disadvantage due to the untrue but liberal claim of separation of church and state. Clergy are expected to be activists watching out for their flocks.
In Murfreesboro, as stated above, there are 35,000 or more Muslims, but on Friday there are fewer than 1000 attending their services. Looks like a fertile field of 34,000 for trained evangelists !
